    I would still draft silayev before tij iguinla, you can trade for forward if you really need too and the spot will only be open in a year

    When it comes to Kotkaniemi, Drafting for need is not the issue it’s drafting for need and REACHING on a player at the same time… If you need a Centre and there is one ranked to go 5th overall for example and you’re at 4th and say a winger is ranked 4th, It’s okay to take that centre instead of the winger or a d… If you need a Centre and the only good one is ranked below 15th overall for example and you reach for him at 3rd that’s a bad idea!…. So it’s not drafting for need that is the issue LOTS of teams draft for need and get AMAZING players but they usually take the guy that is ranked very close to where they are picking instead of the guy ranked where they are… Drafting for need and reaching is a bad idea that’s where you get players that are busts or are just not good enough to live up to the expectations…

      Montreal needs a center at the draft since there are questions about Dach with his serious knee injury: he might even be turned into a winger in the futur. The highest ranked center available is Lindstrom...so he must be Montreal 's plan A...Igihla/Sennecke are likely plan B if your reasonning is right !!!

      Carolina had a 2nd line center in Vincent Trocheck and he left and then he ended up with the Rangers during free agency. Part of the of reason why Carolina couldn't afford Trocheck is because of the kind of contract they gave to Jesperi and now Jesperi is looking like a 4th liner.
      I'm not saying if Carolina had Trocheck they would have beaten the Rangers because hockey is very much a team game but the difference between Trocheck and Jesperi is big in favor of Trocheck, so it was a shame they lost Trocheck.

      Exactly. The seperation between the BPA and the player you need has to make sense. Can’t be too much of a gap in talent and potential.

      @@powers1500 I’d say Lindstrom has a lot more chance to be a winger in the NHL. He’s less of a play driver and playmaker. Doesn’t have the best hands. He’d make a great PF imo. This intel is from scouts btw.

    Depending what Montreal wants to do at the draft, I can see Montreal having to sacrifice a good young defenseman like Guhle to get a good young forward...You can't get quality without giving quality !!!

    On the developping environment any update on JF Houle ? The Rocket did not collectively perform exactly like we'd hoped for unfortunately, but the player development under him, even with guys who only played under his tutelage for a handful of games (or a bit more) it has all been great : Struble, Roy, Xhekaj, Armia. And then there's the year long prospect dev guys like Mailloux, Heineman or Dobes who're now more ready than ever to start knocking on the NHL door. And even more unlikely NHLers like Stephens, Gignac & Condotta have not looked out of place when called up to plug holes. I know he was a Bergevin hire but I'd hate to see him go too soon. They'd have to find the rarest of gems of a coach to do a finer job.

    • @powers1500
      @powers1500 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Indeed JF appeared to us fans as a good coach.However, since they have not signed him yet, they are possibly waiting for someone else from another team to become available during the summer. Obviously, whatever HuGo do with JF , there will be a reasonning behind it. They may know "inside info" that we fans are not aware of !!!

    People have to come to grips with the fact we are going to lose a great defenseman. You have to give value to get value. Barron will not get a great return. I hate to say it but it might be Arber or Ghule. That is what it will take for a top six forward

    • @tylerlussier1896
      @tylerlussier1896 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Habs have lots of assets and other forward prospects to get a top 6 forward without giving up a D like Guhle or Xhekaj… You just need a team that wants to get younger or fill their draft capital… Carolina may not have the cap space to sign Marty Necas for example and Carolina wants to stay competitive but they want longevity for the team… Carolina in my opinion would take draft capital and a prospect like Oliver Kapanen and a D like Harris or Barron in a package for Necas… This is how some teams stay competitive for years because they trade a player like Necas for picks and prospects so they get younger but stay competitive… Kent Hughes gave up Romanov to the islanders and picks for the 13th overall pick to get Dach he did not have to give up a big time player for our team… It can be done, Hughes knows what he’s doing… Teams will Value a player like Harris because he’s a sure NHL D with more potential and has great IQ you just have to find a team that wants to stay competitive but get younger which gives their team longevity… The Toronto Maple Leafs for example will want a Star player or superstar player for Marner and in that case we would have to give a player like Guhle but there are other options and Hughes will find those options… One of those options is Carolina in my opinion. Carolina has a lot of good players and they can afford to lose a player like Necas for picks and prospects because they will still be a playoff team, Harris can play for them now and has more room to grow, A prospect like Kapanen is a year away from being NHL ready and would probably be a better option than Kotkaniemi so Carolina in my opinion would be interested in a package like that…
      Marty Necas to Montreal
      Jordan Harris, Oliver Kapanen/Or another prospect, 2024 Jets First rounder.
      Maybe you add another pick like a 3rd or 4th.
      Habs gave up a First Round pick and a Second Round picks plus a nothing player for Alex Newhook who has Top 6 potential he can still become a good Second line player… The Habs can get a Top 6 player without giving up Guhle or Xhekaj…
      If you’re talking about getting a Superstar player then that’s a different story. You would have to give up something big BUT that’s not necessary in my opinion…
      Habs will draft Either Lindstrom, Demidov or Iginla with their 5th Overall pick all 3 of those players have first line upside, Demidov is definitely a play driver, Lindstrom remains to be seen and Iginla will be a really good complementary player on a first line…
      If the Habs get a player like Tij Iginla he doesn’t have to be a play driver because Suzuki and Slafkovsky are…
      If Chicago picks Levshunov and passes on Demidov to strengthen their D core then Anaheim will also draft a D and CBJ tried Laine down the middle this season 💀 they need a Second line C so they will pick Lindstrom and that would leave Demidov to us…
      If Chicago takes Demidov, Anaheim will take Levshunov and CBJ will take Lindstrom and Habs will pick Iginla in my opinion… If CBJ get scared about the injuries Lindstrom had then they would go for a D or draft Helenius and Lindstrom would fall to 5 and the Habs would likely take him…
      Habs need to only trade for 1 more Top 6 player and that guy in my opinion is Marty Necas I believe they will be front runners for a trade involving him….
      If Kirby Dach can stay healthy I believe he’s going to surprise a lot of people, He was a 3rd overall pick for a reason and Habs fans have forgotten about em… He’s going to be a great player if he’s healthy and Newhook can play with Dach and Necas on the second line if we get him, Caufield, Suzuki and Slaf will play on the first line and once Iginla is ready or Whoever we pick I believe they will take Caufield’s spot on the first line which would move Newhook down to the 3rd line….

    Let’s not rush these young guys, Hutson is the exception due to his size as the AHL is generally a dirty league and not sure you want to send the lamb to the slaughter. But saying that, I’d try and move Baron and Harris, and I feel like Mailloux will be a Top 2 D-Man and would move him he’d be part of my untouchable.

    I get rid of Ghule before I Xhekaj. Yes Arber is coming off the back of two shoulder surgeries but more than once Ghule has been hurt when the game gets physical. If we had more about the rest of the team with players prepared to hit and go to the boards then I'd prefer to keep Ghule, but we don't. Small and soft. Watch the panthers over 7 games and they would have bullied us to pieces. Lets also consider how much the contract will cost for Arber compared to Ghule.

    Would san jose be interested in Lane Hutson so him and celebrini could be together?
    To SanJose , Hutson , Winnipegs 1st , Roy , Anderson , 1st in 2026
    To Montreal , Will Smith , 3rd
    SanJose has a lot of cap room , it might looks like the habs are overpaying but they would need to to get rid of Anderson , Montreal gets a talented center and SanJose makes it clear that celebrini will be their first center and keep the chemistry between him and Hutson . Then the habs could pick an offensive defenseman with their 5th overall to replace Hutson . Sam Jose also gets a very good prospect in Roy and 2x 1st and Montreal frees up 5.5 mil in cap space
    I genuinely thinks this would be a good trade for both teams , add or remove assets if needed
