Something that is truly amazing about this encounter is that there are two of the most important figures of both countries fighting, both Emilio Aguinaldo that fought for independence 2 times and created filipino history; and Primo de Rivera, whose family would perpetrate 2 coups in Spain and lead it to victory in a war against Morocco.

@@riventv4927 Acta de Naic, Bonifacio threatening to burn Indang... yeah that's definitely not treasonous huh?
Also for Luna, being a pompous individual, though he has formal knowledge he feels like he's the boss and also abuses Artikulo Uno
Edit: I'd also like to add some info about the Kawit Brigade, Telegram and his assassination:
      1) Kawit Brigade - The Kawit Brigade are the personal guard of the President Emilio Aguinaldo. They were MEANT to take direct orders from Aguinaldo, like how the Imperial Guards of Napoleon are meant to take direct orders from him. Luna, being the pompous general he is, rather asking permission to Aguinaldo, he then directly ordered which the Kawit didn't comply. What did Luna do? He ordered their disarmament, ridiculed them, and shamed them. Also take note that these men are veterans of the Revolution, see those victories in Cavite? That's where they were.
      2) The telegram didn't order Luna for a conference, the telegram states:
“Felipe Buencamino aun detenido sin ordenar formacion causa. Esperando contestacion a mi telegrama anterior en que le pedia acusacion. Suplico urgencia.”
      In English:
“Felipe Buencamino is being detained without ordering the formation of the case. I am waiting your reply to my previous telegram where I request the basis of your accusation.…”
Nowhere near on calling an invitation for Luna to go to a conference in Cabanatuan.
      3) His assassination is still *debatable* whether it was Aguinaldo behind, self-defense by the Kawit Brigade, or by other conspiracies like Cojuangco or other bs. Aguinaldo stated that he wasn't there, he was with Del Pilar disbanding Luna's forces fearing for a suspicious coup by Luna; he also added that if he were to kill him, he would have done it in the heat of battle not next to his office. Again it is still debatable, but it can conclude that Luna's temper led him to his own death, like Bonifacio after Tejeros.
On Janolino, here's an interview between Antonio K Abad and Capt. Janolino:
ABAD: Who ordered you to kill Gen, Luna?
JANOLINO: No one ordered us to kill Gen. Luna. I assume the whole responsibility for the sad happening.
ABAD: If that is true, why did you treacherously kill the general?
JANOLINO: The incident was unexpected because when General Luna heard someone fire at the stairs under the convent, he became very furious and rushed downstairs and uttered the following words: “Idiot, fool! You do not know how to handle a rifle!” “We thought at that moment that Gen. Luna would harm us because he was mad and was known to be a very harsh and temperamental man and due to this belief, I was frightened and immediately hit him in the head with my dagger. At that juncture, my soldiers (from the Kawit Company) helped me in attacking him until he rushed out of the convent badly wounded."
Now you'll be asking "where did I get my sources?" Here:

Excellent. Mindanao during 1890-1900 was still independent from any rule, they rule themselves and there were actually 4 major government in Mindanao. Buayan Rajahnate, Sulu Sultanate, Maguindanao Sultanate and Tumbao Sultanate. Aguinaldo of Filipinas sent an invitation to Sulu Sultanate to join him in Republic of Filipinas but Sulu declined and almost didn't recognize Republic of Filipinas so did other kingdoms in Mindanao.

No, it was needed to destroy the Spanish Fleet in Cavite in order to permit the filipino revolutionaries to come back from exile in Hong Kong. Without the United States, perhaps the filipinos would have conquered more, but there was no way they could hold a war against the spanish forever. This is a similar situation to the Anglo-Zulu War, despite early defeats of the british by the inferior Zulu, they regrouped and crushed the zulu after a while. The same would have happened in the Philippines had the spanish remained, the filipino rebels didn't have any significant industry to power their war effort, meanwhile Spain had industry and the capacity to focus its army on the Philippines, as the cuban rebellion was about to be crushed. Perhaps the war lasts until the 1910's, until 1920 in some parts, but there was no way the filipinos could have won without foreign intervention.

Spain has no interest at all. For most part, it was Manila and surrounding regions that Spaniards focused mainly on because that's where the lucrative galleon trade starts. The Chinese economic presence in Manila was a huge thing for the Spanish, other than that, the Spaniards did not care that much about the Philippines.

Actually, they defeated the people from Mindanao. The Spanish even made the Sulu Sultanate it's protectorate.
But why not occupy it? Simple, like all things in the world. If there's nothing there. Then just ignore it.
Also, the stopping of pirates is enough.
