If you follow along, In top component encapsulation is none. so when he adds p tag in that top component css file it reflected in both top and bottom component. even though bottom component encapsulation is shadow dom. I hope it clears now.

Will try. You can think of shadow dom as a wrapper dom. So that the the styles from global css will not penetrate inside.
