Hi Mark ,Nice little video today and the answer is Zero that’s the amount of money that I would be willing to give to my local or any state government to ride my bicycle on a public street in the present or near future . The government should be giving E-bike riders / commuters / trips around your local community for work shopping etc . , A yearly tax credit or some type of rebate in return for not driving a car or having a car as a means of necessary transportation that continues to harm the environment and causes a risk to your health an welfare . Mark ‘ money grab , or outright scam or thievery is all the correct answers to the possibility. If this happens I will be selling my bike and buying something that won’t require any additional cost to operate and license. Like I was told many many years ago by a very wise man ,” This is why you can’t have nice things “ .
I ride on the sidewalk if it gets too dicey and as traffic tones down I jump back into the street. Can't do that with a scooter/moped so you're forced to ride in the street but that's the beauty of an ebike to me. Personally at 60 even though my bike will keep up/surpass traffic I don't always feel comfortable riding with traffic wethor it's age or inexperience but that's a ME problem. To me if you're going to get out in the street at all you might as well ride with traffic it seems a safer then riding in the bike lane and have vehicles fly pass you.
I wouldnt pay one extra cent for better bike infrastructure in my town because maintaining a high level of walkability and bike-ability was literally written into the city bylaws when it was founded 70 years ago and there is still a complete lack of ANY of it. Over the last 10 years housing costs (and property tax income) have shot up 8-FOLD. The city is RAKING in cash from tourism and people relocating here, yet the city hasnt even kept up with road maintenance much less infrastructure improvements. On the plus side, *because* of ebikes and this town being popular for snowbirds and active retirees getting out there and riding, when the City Council put ebikes on the agenda one meeting this past November, the discussion went 2 hours and every minute of it was favorable towards making the investments. Historically, any time adding sidewalks, pathways or bike lanes was brought up, it got shot down, but the proliferation of seniors and children on ebikes tangling with drivers has changed the attitudes. Now, the city realizes they have to make road improvements anyway, along with replacing underground aging utilities which requires completely ripping up the roads, they may as well plan ped/bike infrastructure while they're at it.
And welcome back to the channel heheh I know your intro by hard bro. haha ain’t no body paying for no license for no ebike most of us don’t drive cars and use bikes for work.
If I thought it would help to create better infrastructure, I would consider paying for registration, but I don't believe it would. Cars I can understand because they can induce a lot of harm when misused. The majority of funds for infrastructure is income and property taxes. Licensing and registration, and why not gas tax, too, might get some new lines painted every 5 or 10 years. In conclusion, pedestrians, cyclists, (ebikes included), shouldn't need license or registration. Motor vehicles, yes, but should be cheap to free. That money is not building roads for cars, it does make drivers feel more entitled to the road.
Do we get charged for walking on a sidewalk? We pay taxes to create the infrastructure already. The concept of getting taxed to simply travel is a dangerous one.
Licenses mainly give the government a way to prevent activity. Ebike industry is in Asia. So no help from them. So riders here need to politically organize to pressure the government into spending for bike infrastructure. Plus use needs to increase to justify spending. Does Musk make ebikes?
hi mark ... unless you pay road tax the government are not going give you anything extra to ride your ebike on the roads as they get no income .... it's all down to dollars for them 😐

Would be great if we had designated protected bike lanes.

Yep 100%.
Licenses mainly give the government a way to prevent activity.

Ebikes are coming from Tesla in 2025.
@ nice $ 1,000. Autonomous bike. Wonder how that will work. Hope they are more dependable than his cars.
@@garywillhoit Not sure, but I'll be watching with interest.

Thanks for chiming in.
Yep, title, sticker and plates just like a motorcycle. Tired of people on ebikes disrupting traffic.
Thanks for your thoughts.
