We have been married for 40 years and the Mystery House would be perfect for us as the grounds are level, and having it energy efficient and flooded with light is so appealing. For a "Forever Home' as this couple wanted, I never believed it when we were a younger couple, but having things like level walking areas and reduced heating bills that means you can stay in your home as you get older during retirement.
Right? I completely agreed with them that the tiny windows in the bedrooms were not the best features but with 100k under their budget, they could have put in french windows. Oh well. Maybe to many maybes for them which I can understand.
(Joan here). Some people on this feed are overly-judgmental about this couple. This is their money (and it's a lot), the choice they make the future they'll have to live with and in (and not the presenter's or this show's audience). They were clear about their wish list and also clear/factual about their feedback. They were appreciative of their time with both Nikki and the show. Just what is wrong with any of that? I have watched many ETTC shows and I find way too many people either down on the couple or down on the presenter. How about people start pulling back on the negative lens they view these programs through? I believe you will find lots to appreciate and enjoy without having to diss someone or something.
All you say is true and no one is doubting that. It is their money but what I think ppl have noticed is the very unappreciative and almost sultry attitude of these buyers. Ppl are commenting on this because is just seems so obviously misguided and entitled. That troubles some ppl and fair enough they can have their comment. You obviously feel differently and well you may. All entitled to their opinions.
@@brianduffy1338 Folks have put themselves out there, so viewers are now part of the conversation; two way communication. The fact that the couple gets their own decision is stipulated. But the conversation around their decision becomes a way for others to participate. I’m not sure there’s a lot of negative here, but puzzlement is a common thread. Assuming (correctly) that there is nothing detrimental to society in our speech, are we permitted our own opinions using our own critical thinking skills? Indeed we are.
I agree 💯. They wanted land and holiday lets. No harm in wanting what you want. I would definitely want to get.what I asked for. House #1 was my favorite, but then I wouldn't want alpacas or a holiday let.
Seems the couple really want a modern interior, maybe an old shell though, with land. Maybe a bigger barn conversion or farm with outbuildings? I liked the houses they saw, thought the mystery was great but maybe not for them. Nikki great as always.
If I had the budget, it would be hard to pick amongst any of these stunning homes and properties! Enjoyed watching the affable gentleman and his cerebral wife analyze the pros and cons of each locale including a possible foray into the alpaca industry. Alpacas and lamas always struck me as a semi-mystical creatures straight out of a Dr. Seuss story book. Almost surreal to see them running around the countryside and producing valuable fur that can be woven right into knit cap or sweater for everyday wear.
To get what they want, this couple ought to buy property and have a home constructed. Nothing seemed "suitable" and doubt there ever will be. Nikki , as always, is such a gracious real estate professional.
I love Nikki and all the hosts of ETTC. I do however enjoy more the couples with a sense of hope and lightheartedness, since I'm watching the show for an escape and a positive vibe.
The woman said "We want to look out and see something beautiful. That will do" That WILL DO? My gosh entitled rich woman, what do you want! House 1 is absolutely gorgeous! I'd take it in a heart beat if i could. SOME PEOPLE seem to have no idea how fortunate they really are!
She’s entitled to shop for her vision. When you get three homes to choose from, one being a curveball, the mark won’t always be hit. If Nikki didn’t clinch the sale, it’s no bad on her and in the same breath it’s no bad on the client. It just didn’t happen.
I probably would go for the first one myself as that view could be a great selling point for the holiday let. Yes I would put in French doors and a balcony in the master as well. But that's me not them.
I wonder why so many want to keep alpacas and how many understand the work involved. A glamping or B and B requires a lot of work. Do they have experience in hospitality? I can see how they want to see the future but how realistic is it?
Money doesn’t buy everything, and every house is a compromise - even if you build it yourself. Trite, but true. When he mentioned bending down, I thought, that’s it, no hope. How hard is it to build a window dormer or three? Kinda hard to watch silliness after a bit.
Dormers can be both difficult and expensive to build in, as the roof must be restructured. Also, if the house is Listed, forget it completely. Dormers would simply not be allowed.
@@michaeltutty1540 Lots of places that are not listed or otherwise encumbered find dormers are the easiest and least expensive way to add usable space to a room.
This couple is way to particular, husband, "I have to duck down or all I see is green."??? The mystery house is fab. Nicki was great, couple was thumbs down.
I agree. This video made me appreciate how great Nicki is. But this couple was SO negative. Is dissatisfaction their personal lifestyle? I feel sorry for the people who end up with them as neighbors!
They have the financial resources to be selective. If you ask me, if I was in a position, financially, as they were and shown three homes that didn’t suit my vision, I’d keep on looking too. They shouldn’t feel obligated to put so much money towards something they aren’t too keen on. Their position isn’t one of desperation so on they go, and as they should. I have a sneaky suspicion people are feeling some sort of way due to the wife being an American. Such a strange way to operate one’s feelings. To the couple, greetings from California! Don’t lose your American mindset!
House 1 is in a beautiful location. The ground floor is spectacular. The first floor, being tucked into the eaves, leaves me cold. That corridor to the master bedroom would have me leaning all the time. The windows in the master are downright mean. If it were a proper 2 storey home it would be much better. House 2 is beautiful. Personally, the study would become utility and cloakroom, and the existing space would become part of an enlarged dining room. Other than that, the house suits me to the ground inside and out. I do love a proper dining room for formal dinners. I want people out from under foot when making a big meal for a bunch of people. The Mystery House leaves me completely cold. The main floor has too much space is parts, and the lack of walls would drive me nuts. House 2 would be the one for me.
I'm American and I know that many people have the mistaken idea that everybody in America lives in huge expensive homes. However nothing could be further from the truth. I'm a retired 74 year old female and I live in a modest two bedroom brick home in a rural area. Nothing spectacular about the views but plenty of room around me. I have watched this show now for several years and I have often wondered if everyone lives in a huge two story home. All of the homes seem to be at least 250,000 pounds and usually a lot more. I could never afford to live there. My home is just a nice little house that I built with my retirement savings and it cost less than 100,000 USD back in 2010 to build. I have wondered how seniors who live on a retirement income manage to live there????
Beautiful county, though most of it seems to be uphill! Ask for a house with some flat land. Lol #1 - love it! I don't even care the roof line would give me a crick in my neck! I want an alpaca! Bummer! My favorite! #2 - love this one too. I don't need a holiday let, but I suppose I'd have to have relatives visit often. Mystery - I like it, but I'm not sure why. The view is flat.
I thought this couple wanted light and airy without beams. I wonder why the producers do NOT stick with what the couples want/ As soos as I saw the older part of the house, I would have said no way lets move on to the next house.
Before I even start to watch this I just have to say "Nicki you get more beautiful every day dear lady". Dont you have flies in the UK? I dont see many if any screens on doors or windows...? Just curious.. Not exactly full of enthusiasm is she??
As a dual citizen, UK and USA...she gives the Americans a bad vibe.... I was watching thinking " oh here we go, another entitled American embarrassing the rest of us"

750 000 £ 😐 you could build at least 3 of those in bulgaria, near the sea, with few decars of vine grapes each 😂 there is no superexpensive panoramic doors and windows that could cost a lot +. made of usual stone, very simple roof, no terraces or anything that could be expensive. obviously no artworks masterpieces in interior too. cheap and simple. but, i suppose if you compare it to prices at local market or some crappy apartment in berlin maybe its not even expensive😂

Who wants alpaca so you ca n look at them “out in the field”? Is that a good reason to have living animals - so they look pretty in the front field??
Exactly! Living beings are Not DECORATIONS! They need love, respect, and care; things I doubt this woman is capable of giving!
I think they are now looking for their forever home. Keep looking good luck
