CNR steam locomotive #1392 (4-6-0) leads APR #41 (2-8-0) in double header service hauling passengers from Stettler to Big Valley, Alberta June 28 to July 4, 2017. Canada 150 (1867-2017) celebrations.
Canadian National 1392 is a 4-6-0 “Ten-Wheeler” built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1913. It pulled trains through out the CNR system until it retired. Now operating at the Alberta Prairie Railway.
Yes, it is getting rare. The APR also operates the CN 6060 mountain class 4-8-2, but it has been out of service for about ten years. The society which owns it has been struggling to raise funds to complete boiler repairs.
I think I spent 10 days down there and had a great time. 1392 was trucked in from the Edmonton museum as part of Canada's 150th. birthday celebrations.
As an Albertan, I am curious about how the 1392 made it from Edmonton to Stettler and back. Maybe deadheading within a freight consist? My guess is that it wasn’t on its own steam, on either the CN or CP mainline. Answer?

And the Alberta Railway Museum
Love that whistle
Well here's something you don't see every day 🚂🚂 We used to. . .I used to living beside the Kingston Sub, except the locomotives were larger

Never too late 🚂🚂
this is not too far off from what the new hope and ivyland had in the 70s
Well that's cool. I know this one was certainly a lot of fun.
Awesome! I saw 1392 a few days ago at Alberta Railway Museum!
Cool. There's a lot of neat old equipment at the museum. They've done a nice job preserving the NAR history.
I agree! It was cool to see the old NAR locomotives and cars along with the CNR F-units! Those were absolutely beautiful!
I may be volunteering there next summer, it's my local railway museum.

Hi Massey. They moved it by truck. If you go the video section of the museum's web page, they have some footage of the load/unload.
Awesome
Glad you liked it Mariah.
Is 1392 still in service?
Yes, it operates at the Edmonton museum, though it is not currently open.
Thank goodness.
Weird question, but what's the opening title music from? I recognize it but I can't quite place it.
That's newsroom from the TH-cam library.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa Thanks. I must have heard it on another channel somewhere.
Not a CN whistle!
You must be a rivet counter.
