When I played AoE2 as a kid I always made completely mixed armies and picked civilizations purely by how much I liked their unique unit or by how complete their tech tree was. Didn't even look at the civ bonuses. Byzantines were among my favs due to their extensive tech tree.
Of course I also added scouts to my Teuton armies and archers to my Spanish armies, because if the unit exists you gotta recruit it!
Same.... I played Byzantines because I wanted the Technology Score to be as high as possible lol
This is exactly how I used to play. Byzantine was my favourite trying to boost my tech score. I would feel bad about not having enough options.
I would also pick Japanese, tuetons, Franks and Saracens a lot because of the unique unit.
Red be like: I lost two trebuchets? Well, time to click TC with 15 Kamayuks and resign if it does not work! ^^'
abandoning half the base Its learned from scenarios. you know youre gonna get attacked earlier so you can keep all the villagers better defended plus the majority of your resources are usually in one location
The reason why low elo players prefer the melee attack upgrade is, because it applies to both infantry and cavalry. That's why I used to prioritize it at least.
This is the best series ever! Still want a LEL tourney, should raise the donations for the cup prize. I'd throw in $100 to start it. Reminds me of when I first started playing and the mistakes I used to make and some that I still do lol
If someone knows they are entering a tourney then they are going to practice and learn build orders, which is kind of against the point of LEL.
@@havingyarr they won't learn that quick in low elo and most (if not all) have lives outside of the game. For a community tourney, they aren't going to become high elo players overnight.

@@havingyarr having a community tourney doesn't change LEL, there will literally always be LEL games to spectate. You can practice in low elo all you want, but again it isn't going to suddenly boost you to high elo. The changes it takes to drastically change your elo a few hundred points take months. You're making the assumption that a low stakes tourney is going to make people turn into a prospective Viper, people have lives outside of a game. This isn't a high stakes tourney we're talking about, hence, community. When saying low elo we're also talking about sub-1000, considering the average elo is ~1049. Considering 800-1200 elo is over 60% of the ranked player base.
Someone would totally tank their elo score to stomp noobs and earn easy money
The pure RP aspect of sending each individual villager to cut a different straggler tree, the commitment to cinematics is impressive.

Note to self, never attack blacksmiths, it's the only way to make LEL remember to get upgrades quick before it goes down.
At start, red used “select all idle villages” hotkey. They didn’t decided to send villages all to 1 TC.

I've certainly resigned while in a winning position before because I was stressed.
Low ELO videos is the most unique videos of AOE videos in all channels. Please keep doing them as much as you can. You know why! Because they are true fighters who not depending on meta or making the same boring calculations as the top players. They are unique and entertaining.
A little known fact (that not even T90 knows) is that the town center has a tavern inside.
This singlehandedly explains why the militia were garrisoned inside. They were getting sh*tfaced at that time :)

Played a 2 tc game today for first time. Didn't know how to start.
In one youtube upload, you mentioned different elo ranges having their own style of play. It's almost as if the meta changes depending on your elo. I wonder where that line of thought leads as you get to know the community of the different elo ranges better...

He’s a Hooters guy.
I think that Red doesn't know how to manage army.
He just seems to click it to attack a building and that's it.
He tried to get his army to the TC, ignoring the knights in the way, and having a lot of trouble with pathing his army.
I'm currently around 650 elo (only played 13 ranked games since I got DE), and I recently had one of these 2TC games and it was a disaster... I struggle to keep up with things at the best of times and my opponent had managed to wall off their entire base with houses and military buildings
I forget which game it was that I saw a video where someone tested upgrading weapons vs armor first and it turns out the attack upgrade is actually preferable in the testing he did. That doesn't necessarily mean it would apply to this game though as the base/upgrade values would be different and the game is gonna play different. Just food for thought.
That often is so, because killing enemy units removes those units' damage output from the damage your units take. So you want to kill enemy units as fast as possible.

Supplies is GOOD for your health. one apple a day keeps the doctor away. and you save gold in the process. So, ffs stop mucking players for doing supplies it is a very good upgrade. Period!
When I first started watching this channel, neither did I expect the caster to point out faces on the map so often, nor did I expect to enjoy such content as much as I do.

That gg is the LEL-iest part of the whole game. Reminds me of quitting AI games the moment they raided my base.
I think under a certain ELO knowing/having a good start and build order in mind doesn't help nearly as much as just the basics of army managment. Plenty of 700-900 players throw all fuck to the wind when it comes to starter build order but you'll also see these dudes micromanage their archers and such...it's just thats all they do and their economy suffers for it, but not enough for the sub 500 player with a good starting economy to stand a chance since they throw so many units away.

Are there any two-TC maps or is Megarandom the only way to get this?
This makes me think a fun showmatch could be to have people play two games at the same time :) or one high level player against two lower elo players, but in separate games. Make them coordinate their "two TCs"
Bringing all the vils to one TC sorta makes sense because you'll get less meat decay. 6 on a sheep rather than 3 and 3.

I've played maybe 20 MegaRandom games on ranked matches. Only ONCE have I had the 2 TC start. I have NEVER started with a feitoria. Almost every single MegaRandom game I play is 1 TC and a horse instead of a scout. On a couple occasions it was 2 horses. Once or twice I had a couple watch towers nearby. On one occasion I think there was a tower to start. And the positions of these buildings isn't even logical. I'm annoyed with MegaRandom at this point. I am considering adding it to the ban list. In my experience it isn't fun or interesting, it's just stupid.
If you need a perfect build order of course it would be annoying, the randomness is kind of the point. To make you uncomfortable and change things up
@@JJJBunney001 All the other maps already do that. What does MegaRandom actually add other than switching the scout out for a horse (most of the time)? I would love some more 2 TC starts but that has only happened once.

you're the one who needs to cut these guys some slack. I like your channel but the patronizing and the mockery on this series is annoying. seriously. it's funny to make fun of them, but the common exasperation at simple mistakes is just grating. it's not that big of a deal but come on man... it's supposed to be fun.
so just to be clear I like when you make fun of them in a lighthearted way, I don't like the "red what are you DOING, man?" it's just like... they are low-rated players.. just enjoy it.

I think we went to low with this one… IMO 700-1000 is the sweet spot. Less than that and its more frustrating then entertaining

I just dont understand low elo legends, i feel like i would do better even if i had never played this game before or watched any videos about it.
I'm a pretty competent gamer but I'm shit at RTS games. some people just aren't good at the multitasking, so they hard tunnel vision.
