Located in the rural countryside of France and perched on a small hill, a once noble estate crumbles and decays. In the course of history, the home was reconstructed and extended many times. And yet, it was the smaller adjacent building that attracted us more - with a rather curious story and remnants of inestimable value. Here, the walls are full of historical artifacts from bygone times. This is a private collection in the scale and quality of a museum - all of it presented in a cloistered courtyard completely made of marble. We are travelers in time.
In this new series, we set out to break the deathloop that dooms us to repeat the past over and over again. For that, we went to France to find the most fascinating forgotten structures. Let us know what kind of exploration you want to see next. Of course, this journey lies already in the past, but we have filmed all sorts of abandoned sites in France.

How lovely would it be if someone could transform it in a museum!! This type of location would be perfect as a movie set or weddings, events. It would be a lot of income and it could be fully restored a piece at a time
The library is the biggest heart break after the craftsmanship ship of the artist! How many amazing stories were left behind just look at those pictures!!

And these old books... what a crime leaving them to rot away. The reason the paper and print is in such good condition is, that paper of the 19th century and older was produced without acidic substances, which make paper turn yellow over time, especially under UV rich light, such as sun light.

It never fails to amaze me that you always capture small details that fit together to help us see the big picture. For instance, dust coming off a book or the wind blowing an insignificant piece of fabric. It sure stirs the imagination and engages the senses. BTW, I think Sascha is a great addition to your explores.✔️

One thing that I love about your video style beyond the cinematography, is your clearly intentional capture of nature. Showing plants as individuals. The capture of the various bird calls throughout the first half, which sounded so good it must have been captured separately then layered back into the video after? Idk...anyway, it shows these are made by someone(s) that actually love nature :)
These places come from nature, but they are also dismantled by nature again to be part of it once more. Thanks for your nice comment! And you are right: Most of these bird sounds are added/recorded seperatly. It's sound design as we video nerds call it.

France is such a strange place, it’s hardly ever talked about and rarely seen on the news feeds. And all of these abandoned beautiful Manor, and that huge conference hotel are so weird just sitting there rotting away. It’s spooky that their never used for anything and not even restored and it can’t be for lack of money, France is a lucrative country. Thanks so much for taking us along fascinating stuff for sure

I love watching the channel! When asked, I tell all my friends and family that this is what I am into watching on my free time.
I definitely see, Broken Window Theory, having their own series on Netflix or alike. The history they show, the respect for the property and it’s items, the grace they express when describing reality of life in the places they visit is all very comforting.

I'm a person of moderate means so seeing these great mansions deillick and abandoned I always ask myself, how can anyone be so rich that they could walk away from all this beauty and Craftsmanship! Well that's what the wealthy do!

These estates are like yachts on land. Holes into which you pour cash. You don’t own these estates they own you. At best you’re a custodian. At worst you are fighting an uphill battle every day for survival. No one wants to walk away from their heritage, they do it out of necessity and practicality. Don’t ever think that it doesn’t leave a hole in their hearts.
Oh, this was fascinating seeing the art work and the library! Unfortunately this amount of history is fast being forgotten and trying to save it for generations to come is getting harder to stop it from crumbling away as the cost would be so expensive to preserve it. Back in its day just would have been so beautiful to admire and living within these walls, one could just totally escape from the outside world. I always look forward to your next chapter Till! You always do your research and present it in a way that it totally makes me there looking within this history that once was, totally immersed. Tobi captures the history with the photos and especially seeing that he was there 2 yrs ago before, gives the idea that since then and now how the state of these buildings are deteriorating quite quickly. I always hate seeing books left behind anywhere but seeing your video was heartbreaking: so many priceless treasures! The deterioration of the buildings since Toby was last there does not bode well for it's renovation. Even though some of the buildings were being worked on, I'd be very interested to see this place in another 2 or 3 years. Keep a possible return on your calendar, perhaps? To come back here is just possible if we find other places in proximity to this one to make it worth a trip. Always very difficult to plan our routes. But you're right - this place is worth a revisit for sure!

Especially love the new intro (and music choice) If I had to choose only one way to describe this video... It would have to be a Work of Art within a Classic Work or Art! From the amazing surroundings to the Works of Art left behind by the wealthy. Cheryl Campbell has said this perfectly - "People so wealthy they can just walk away from homes and businesses" - Just as though, it didn't matter. My favorite place you explore are family homes. I like taking an intimate look into people's lives.
Imagining the chateau was still in use it's look like living in a fairytale.
Located in remote area away from the hustle and bustle with serene surroundings and lush garden, perfect for calm down and reduce stress.
Beautiful and splendid chateau with rich ornaments, but too bad now is abandoned.

To be in this chateau..took my breath away when you took us into the cloistered area..much is lost but you have captured the remaining parts for us to view before the ruins are no longer visible..maybe a rescue could be attempted again..

What a stunning property….beautifully seen through your lenses. As always, your editing, musical choices and philosophy draw me in. My home is more than 100 years old and filled with antiques, art, and a specialized library. To think of it ever ending up like these homes you explore and document would be heartbreaking. I am glad they are restoring and protecting some of the buildings on this property…hopefully the main chateau and cloister will also be preserved. Stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦

Oh my gosh. The condition of many of the priceless pieces is stunningly beautiful. The stained glass -- WOW. I'm with you all--why does the owner not take care of these gorgeous pieces within the cloister?? And the library!!!~ Excruciating, the loss of such exquisite books of the arts, culture, and wisdom. One of the artpieces in the garden reminded me of a piece at chateau Noisy. There it was in a corner on the ceiling from the front door. In this video it was on a pillar. I'll go check my pictures and send it to you so you guys know what i mean ;) Amazing place you've visited, beautiful.
What a beautiful mansion! I love the french style. So sad to see that this wonderful place will disappear if no one takes care and rebuild. I never had seen such incredible library with books 150 years old and still in good shape! The quality of those books are so impressive! Same to the paintings! This place could be an museum.
There aren't many narrators I care to listen to for long but you are definitely one I enjoy.

These are priceless books that may not have another copy in existence. You should report this to the national library of France. I'm sure they would be able to find a way to acquire them and save them.

Yes, this should be reported, and yet, this peoperty still belongs to someone. Someone owns these books. This person doesn't seem to care but it can't be taken away.

With so much money, everything became empty and trivial, but others could have enjoyed those books and works of art. Giving can bring joy to the heart of the giver. That's why it's better to give than receive.

You all do such a wonderful job, thank you for that! My favorites are chateau's that are filled with stuff from the past. I especially love when you show us old books like you did today and tell us the date, show us the inside. It's amazing to think that a book you opened might be the first time in 200 years or more that anyone has looked at it. I love details like period pieces, furniture, treasures in the attic of a chateau that are usually even older than the stuff down below. Anyhow, that's my favorites, chateaus and chapels. Love the ghost town places too. lol Some industries are just kinda boring. Have a great evening! Love from Florida!

I literally just started watching their channel today. And I clicked on this one because of the library. As a avid reader and lover of antiques and history, the abandonment of the library is blowing my mind, but in the worse way possible. I would be in aww to have in 2 or 3 of those books, and someone just left it there! I mean maybe the original owner had a reason to leave, but the new one? seriously? Come on! On top of which, I speak French and English, so I could read those! I even had to read older French documents too, so I could probably try reading the really older ones too!

Beautifully done and narrated! The cloister is an interesting combination of the old and new (well, 19th century). I'm guessing the relics embeddied in the cloister's walls are mostly 19th century grand tour souvenirs, beautifully presented, but not enormously valuable. The chapel's glass looks very old (I am no expert). Whoever built the place had both taste and money. The book in the library wasn't from 1667 - the illustration shown was very typical for circa 1840.
Beautifully filmed! I wish I could go on a trip with you all! just to embrace the full level of mastery in the crafting of these structures. The history, the relics. Wowza

This place is many hundreds of years old and those artifacts, if original, look thousand + of years old. The books that were there originally - hope they are saved somewhere. The ones you showed on this trip are priceless too.
