Reaction to the series skam France 🇫🇷🔥🔥🔥
This is why you should go through the remakes of this season too. They are all different to varying degrees, all have their particular qualities, and they all fit beautifully into the parallel universes conversation: there may be other Isaks and Evens out there making slightly different choices, but they may be named Lucas and Eliott, Robbe and Sander, etc. They are all worth your time, and I’m not sure if there’s one best order to watch them in, but if you go with the order they came out in, (and stick to the gay ones) that would be SKAM Italia, SKAM France, DRUCK, and WTFock. Cheers!

Eskild’s speech is iconic. The actor’s job is outstanding, out of the charts… the emotion in his voice. Just WOW.
Also… i strongly recommend you to rewatch this episode without recording and paying extra atention to every detail. Because this episode is a GEM. I can’t elaborate more without spoiling so…. Rewatch it please 🙏🏻

the parallel universe conversation gets so much more meaning because of the Skam remakes because there really are 5 other Evaks out there from other countries who are all slightly different yet the same :/ (that being said, watch Druck (Skam Germany) lol)
Druck is definately the best remake because it comes over real like tve og, and season 3 is another masterpiece because of Matteo in season 3...he portrays Isak totally different and the actors are amazing..but the og is in my heart forever..
Drucks incredible - the only remake I was equally as invested in as the og Skam whilst it was airing. Skam France is cinematically beautiful, but Druck feels so much like the OG did. David and Matteo were so adorable and with such a different, yet similar story!
For me, Skam France was the only good remake. All the others felt like an attempt of being inclusive or innovative and I think they lost some of the essence from the OG
I love them all, but SKAM France, for me, is just over the top amazing in every which way!

@@kathyrose8750 I agree totally, Druck was more real and not over the top as Skam France was for me. Matteo is a different Isak which was needed at the time. The actor is brilliant. The og will always have a special place in my heart.
@14:36 I had exactly the same reaction as Jason while watching that scene. It gave me chills and I teared up. Isak is so very lucky to have a friend like Eskild to tell him about this and straighten him up! Cuz Isak’s mindset was going to places it should not be going to.

I love the way they just lay in Isaks bed enjoying each others company at the beginning having a deep but also random convesation. I understand that Emma feels hurt and angry, but it's for Isak to deside when he is ready, and I feel sorry for Isak when he sees Even with Sonja again, but he shouldn't take it out on his friends.
Yeah she should not push him.. but also isak shouldn’t lead her on.. it’s so difficult tho.. because I feel like this happens all the time in real life

I completely agree she shouldn't have told him to "just come out of the closet" because no one should be forced to do that before they are ready (and they don't owe it to anyone anyway), but he did lead her on and not even in a "she pursued him and he simply went along with it," way, but _he_ made the first move on her and actively pursued her. So yeah, he fucked up too (by playing with her emotions) but I understand he was coming from a scared and confusing place.
I understand why Emma is upset, however I feel like he did not lead her on completely on purpose or to be mean. I think at that point he was still questioning his own sexuality, and maybe even thought he could „get himself to like her and just be normal“. And it must feel terrible to be outed like that, and have to deal with it alone, since Evan is back with Sonja.
@@xxXxZahnfeexXxx I think many are too hard on Isak, feeling he led on Emma. I think you hit the nail on the head thinking he would get to like her and be normal. I have seen exactly this. Naive - probably, but not mean-spirited.
Eskild's monologue in this is so important and you're right - Isak NEEDED to hear it. But honestly, the poor guy - he's obviously struggling with his own internalised homophobia and now he's been rejected by Even, schooled by Eskild, told off by Emma, and pissed off all his friends... Not a good place to be.

Doesn’t it feel like you’ve stumbled onto a hidden gem? The show is so naturalistic and realistic. The cinematography and soundtrack are great and the story is so interesting. Then you find out that it’s replicated in other countries as well?

Yes also the acting is so good, the director did an incredible job, and also the soundtrack makes every scene special, skam Norway is one of the best things in the world tbh
@@CoreySchultz im still going to tell you to watch season 1 and season 2, you'll love Isaak and others there and will have a lot of context for eg. The finale of this series. And Isaak was such a fantastic Snake in season 1 lol, you'll also see how hard he tried to not be gay, its almost hilarious

One of the reasons why I think Skam is such a good show, is because it's not shallow. It explores Norwegian culture, politics, religion, mental health, and a lot of it is shown through symbols and nuanced dialogue that most people will miss the first time round

Eskild and Isaak‘s conversation was so well done, it felt incredibly realistic and brought up such an important aspect that wasn’t really brought up yet in the show

It’s a gift hahahah
A little bit around the timeline at the beginning (I think you got it.... ;)): They went to the swimming pool on Friday night, then seem to have gone home to Isak's place, seeing that Even is wearing Isak's clothes the next day (he only had his god costume on when they left, remember...). The smoking and talking on the bed was on Saturday and next timestamp is Sunday morning, when Isak wakes up to find Even has left. So they basically spent the whole Saturday (and subsequent night) in Isak's room, just chilling and spending time with eachother, which I find insanely sweet. Remember the „yellow curtains“ …. it will come up again later in the series. The potential for spoilers is very high from here on, so just a warning to be careful while reading the comments. :)
The two week hiatus after this episode was literally hell!!! Damn these videos are bringing me back :) I was in my late twenties and obsessed with these fictional teenagers lives...
This season of SKAM -- all of it just clipped and combined together -- is like the single greatest gay indie film ever made. Few gay movies have ever had the impact on me that Isak & Even have. Also: I watched this season first too, then season 4 (final), and enjoyed it immensely. Keep watching thru S4.

@@MyrnaZam Maurice is a great movie, with a very young Hugh Grant and Rupert Graves. And Shelter (2007) is a lovely US movie that has gone slightly under the radar. ;)
In this episode, you'll feel that Even is just a bad person for letting Isak down but eventually you'll understand that he had his reasons for doing so. This is the beauty of skam, the depth of the characters.
The scene at the end with the music and Isak blacking out is just some of the best editing I've seen in a teen series. It encapsulates the mood so well
Just wait till the end. One of the reasons I love this season is because the two leads have so many layers. Even’s actions will be explained later. It all makes sad and poetic sense. Great job guys! I am loving this series.
If you are going to watch season 4 as many have requested, I highly suggest you to watch the first two seasons, even if you don't do reactions for them. Season 4 is not only Sana's season but also the series last season, and it closes all of the arcs from previous main and secondary characters. It will not have the same emotional impact for you if you don't know or care about them, especially season 2, because love it or hate it, Noora is a *BIG* part of season 4, and her story sometimes overshadows Sana's.
Last episode in particular, doesn't focus on Sana.
Agree with this, I think starting with season 3 is great but season 4 is definitely more connected to the previous seasons than season 3 is
@@eah4452 Yes, especially because season 3 is "the odd one out" that is not focused on the girl squad or the Russ celebration. Jumping to season 4 without knowing what is Russ or really knowing Eva, Vilde and Noora's history or motivations would make everything much more confusing.
I couldn’t keep myself from watching all the rest of the episodes of the season, and I have to say without spoiling anything for anybody that I’m very happy with the way the whole series ties together at the end. So I absolutely look forward to how you and Jason react to what lies ahead in the next episodes. It is absolutely worth the ride.

In regards to Even wearing a billion layers indoors: I live in Bergen, which on average is not as cold as Oslo and I went to quite an old school (founded in 1153, though the current main building is from 1840) and the heating was shit so I legit brought blankets to school during winter. Their school was founded in 1849 so it is not hard to imagine that it too is freezing.

Having gone to one of those old schools in Oslo, it is freaking cold in there!! We had wind coming through the window sills, and old heaters on full blast underneath the windows.... it was like your legs were in the tropics and your torso in arctic.... Also, you never really got undressed until you came into the classroom to see if it was warm or not, and the lessons were never more than 45 minutes...

I loved watching you react to Isak and Eskild’s conversation! It felt like you were talking to little me 4 years ago. Because that is the scene that made me finally realise I had a lot of internal homophobia going on, just like Isak, and it set in motion an emotional rollercoaster that ended in me realising and finally accepting that I’m a lesbian! I will always be grateful to Skam for that

I love Eskild's dad/big brother vibes in this episode, asking Isak about Even and trying to subtlely coax him into talking about him more xd I really love Eskild because I feel like a lot of people disregard him for being "silly", but he actually has such a nurturing personality and he's the kind of friend that is always there for whoever needs it

this is such a great episode it dives so well into internalized homophobia as well as mental health & outing. I have never been able to fault Isak for his actions in this episode cause I understand the reasoning behind his mistakes and missteps. I agree that he shouldn’t have led Emma on but she had NO right to out him & tell him to get out of the closet because ‘no one cares’ she has no right to invalidate his personal journey and struggle
She comes from her own perspective, and that is Isak using her despite knowing that he is gay. Is she right? Maybe not. But her position and feelings are still valid.

@@LoonyDru She hasn't outed him to anyone at this point. The hate that Emma gets and the excuses that people make for Isak just make no sense. Both are at fault, but both are really also very young, and hurt. And to be frank, in very rare cases would this be a life threatening situatuon for someone in Norway. It certainly isn't for Isak.

I agree. The French version is beautiful in a different way. Obviously the Norwegian one is the original and the source. But what's cool about the French one is that it is not a direct remake of this one, of course it's based on the same plot and story but has some elements/details that make it awesome and not just a copy. The Belgian one is great too.
Absolutely agree. To me the France remake is an absolute art. The characters, the acting, the story, the editing, the music 👍
I absolutely love the original version of skam, it’s just feels so genuine, but everytime I watch it I just can’t stop comparing it with the French version, I feel like the scenes that were added made a huge difference to the experience, in a good way ofc (also THE PAINT SCENE IS JUST WOW)
It is a different thing. The original is more realistic while the french version is more fictionalised and dramatised. Personally I think the french version was overdone (the paint scene a good example, who does that??) but people can like both versions.
I also didnt like the french version very much. It was just too much of everything and lacked real feelings and emotions in my opinion. I believe WTFOCK has done a better job. But everyone has a different taste.
The paint scene was hot, but that first kiss….that scene was sooooo damn beautiful!

@@mellowtopia5376 I agree. The French (and Italian) version is more cinematic, while the Norwegian (and Spanish and Belgian) version is more realistic. Depends on what you prefer. Having been raised on a diet of fictional drama, OG Skam was a breath of fresh air.
@@oceanlover3530 For me it was the piano scene that made the French version distinctive. Kissing and having sex happens with all of the Evak couples, so none of those scenes particularly stand out for me.
Eskild's speech is absolutely on point and amazing. I also kind of get Isak's point, but he definitely didn't consider all perspectives. This being a European show, Norwegian to be precise, and speaking as an Eastern European, it's a privilege Isak has not only queer friends he can learn from or/and relate to, but also non queer friends who are open minded. He sometimes does need a reality check, but I also love his character and this show because it's realistic. Sometimes people think and say dumb things, for whatever reason, and sometimes they need to be showed that they're wrong. It's all part of growing into your best version. Anyway, great reaction! 🔥

That speech from Eskild was amazing. Be who you want to be, but know that folks you may look down on fought and died for you to have the place in society to be that. What a valuable lesson, that we shouldn't devalue those who have taken great risk to be visible if we aren't willing to do the same

It still suprises me that some people haven’t seen skam. It’s has been a part of my life and shaped me as a teen from the moment I saw it 4 years ago. It might sound exaggerated to some people, but back then, even if it’s just a few years. This was the only show containing realistic representation and it’s still one of the few. So yeah

There's a whole thing with Isak's pillows. In the early episodes, Isak seems to prefer his blue pillow. After Even's visit in this episode, we see Isak sniffing the blue pillow, implying that he gave it to Even to lie on... 🥰
Eskild's speech was one of the most powerful moments in Skam for me. I kind of thought like Isak (as did the actor for Eskild apparently 😏) until hearing those words.
Hope you guys enjoyed this rollercoaster episode! This season seemed so short but it was packed with so much.
I would absolutely love it if you reacted to druck season 3 after this! It is a remake version of Skam in Germany. It follows the same storyline but is slightly different and my absolute favorite

Ow, I just found your channel ab 3 days ago, and I was waiting for the next episode! I was a huge SKAM fan when it aired. I thought to rewatch it now, and I found your channel, I like reactions to my fav shows, bc it reminds me how I felt watching it for the first time, and I’m excited seeing new ppl geting invested in the show - I’m glad you liking it!
I cannot wait for more episodes! 🥺 Honestly, first 3-4 episodes were a slow build up, now it’s only gonna be a rollerblader. Get yourself some tissues prepared 😂
I just thought sadly, the season is gonna be over before you know it. Did you know the episodes were released in ‘in real time’ clips? and there is additional content as characters socialmedia posts and messenger screenshots rtc, from official characters accounts - it gives additional contects and sometimes helps explain the situation - you could chatch up to it, and react to it between scenes or at the end of each episode ☺️ Suggesting that, bc, well, the more Evak content the better imo 😁
Beside that, there are bloopers at the end of the season you should really react to!
And Isak and Evan are having a little arch in the season 4, idk if you gonna watch it, Sana is main character, not Isak, but it’s a very good season, I love Sana’s and Isak’s unlikely friendship that started this season 💕
If you like little details, I think this season has the most of it! idk if you noticed, but I can recomend you watching Isak’s school locker and how it mirrors his state of mind/situation. Besides that, if you didn’t or did long time ago, I can recomend you watching/remainding yourselves ‘Romeo+Juliet’, to see all the visual callbacks and otherwise symilarites ❤️

I was like you two when the episode started and they started kissing I said: "eff my life. I want that". HAHAHAHA It was a really emotional rollercoaster episode: drama is HERE !!! For Isak and Eskild scene, I thought of it and for me Isak is thinking that he wants to be "gay" with Even but he's afraid to be "gay" in public hence the "I'm not gay-gay". Which is a stage I did have when I was young and had my first BF in secret and not being "gay" in public. But I got over it eventually (mostly when my BF kissed me in front of everyone in class...ugh). Great job guys !!!

It really depends on what kind of shows you like! I prefere the more realistic portrayals that I can relate to, where everyhthign feels more real, so I really love the origional and wtfock. If you're more into the 'enhanced' version, where the actors are basically models, and everything is more beautifully portrayed and shot, france would be the way (for me, france becomes too cheesy and over the top, sadly)

The reactions on the face of Carl Martin (actor who plays Eskild) are heartbreakingly real.
The wonderful thing about this show and season 3 specifically
( I admit I also only have watched season 3, same reason as you.)
is the power of Context.
Like you go along watching what happens in their lives in the moment but it's not clear until you go through and see it in the context of the story and what is happening.
Definitely the vibe and camerawork of the show has this very you-are-there feel (do you see why so many were comparing Young Royals to this?) but also the intimacy and raw emotion too.
Plese continue to enjoy the ride, for it is that but an emotionally powerful one for sure.
