I think this comment is very under rated. Especially now that Disney bought DreamWorks, Marvel etc. Their movies shape opinions/values of nascent minds more than any other medium except, maybe, parental interaction. That these movies are tailored to the young is a point likely not worth stating but I will anyway. Many characters are one dimensional and the movies arc is something akin to a sinusoidal wave. Great bursts of action with drop offs for plot/character development. Oddly the animated films are often more in depth morality plays. Brave tells us to not be recalcitrant against parents. Moana inspires women to be robust and resilient in the face of censure/social pressure. Whereas the human action films often give antagonists whose primary identifier is not actions but aesthetics. Mickey HAS somewhat been in control since the 50s. The only question is how much is the content a reflection of populism and how much is Mickey deciding these values for you.

I think I don't even like the Mickey mouse from south park. I like the real Mickey mouse who is kind, thoughtful, polite, and humble.
