  • Today I'm sharing a Simplicity sewing pattern haul with you, including patterns from Butterick, Vogue, MiMi G, and Simplicity. These patterns were on sale so I stocked up on some that had been on my wishlist for a while. I got a mix of vintage reproduction and modern styles, I also got a few mens' patterns including swimsuit and suit suit lol. The big surprise came when I realized that the new Butterick reproduction patterns actually come with the original pattern instructions from the 1950's! I will find out whether or not the actually pattern pieces are original too, that could be a game changer in the vintage sewing world. Stay tuned!
Here's a list of all of the patterns I got:
    - Butterick 6938
    - Butterick 6939
    - Simplicity 9043
    - Simplicity 9097
    - Simplicity 9536
    - Simplicity 9538
    - Simplicity 9740
    - Simplicity 9802
    - Vogue 1850
    - Vogue 1873
    - Vogue 1897
    - Vogue 8988
Here's a link to my Pinterest board with all of them gathered in one place: / simplicity-sewing-patt...
I got all 13 patterns for $83.33. Not bad! Make sure you sign up for the Simplicity newsletter so you don't miss any big sales (I have no affiliation with Simplicity).

Yay, I’m soooooo glad you’re back. Honestly, when 2020 happened and everyone lost their shit I had to let a lot of people go. People kept wanting sewing to be about politics or race, you did not do that and I’m very grateful for that. You kept it separate and I have great respect for this. I’m excited to see new stuff from you!

I heard that if the pattern has the seal that says “authentic” it is a true reproduction of the older pattern including the vintage instructions.

Yay! Hi Liz. gtsy I'd enjoy you sewing mens clothes. Mostly because I enjoy watching you and your voice/chat is comfortable. Also, it'd be unique from other channels I watch. You can do what you like and I'm in for watching. Thanks!

Very fun unboxing! Love all the patterns you bought! I enjoy all the good things you make! I would also enjoy seeing you make some men's clothes, especially after you take the tailoring course! I just think it would be fun and different. I've been making linen pants for my special someone and he LOVES them. So far I've tried two different patterns and I'm waiting for the verdict on the pair I finished yesterday! 😘🥰😍

If you watch Stephanie Canada, she's done some videos about the re-issued patterns. It's unclear if the new "authenticity stamp" on the newly re-issued patterns (and inclusion of the og instructions) mean anything. Still, I'm excited that you're back and am eagerly awaiting the new videos about these patterns! (I wish the vintage patterns had been re-issued in larger sizes; some have been, but most stop short of plus-size.) OOH! I bought the Simplicity x Madelynne lingerie pattern too!!!! It'll be my first try at lingerie!

Love the Butterick romper! I haven't seen that one in stores yet. I have made four peasant tops using Simplicity 9538. It is truly so comfortable and can be really cute tucked into a skirt or pant.

I swore I was no going to buy any more vintage reproductions and then B6939 happened. Fast forward to last week, not only did I get it but I found and bought two other genuine vintage play suit patterns from 1940’s at my local antique shop. I have a problem🤷🏻‍♀️

@@evelynsantiago6562 haha why are we like this?! I totally did the same thing. In fact, I’m on a buying freeze cuz we want to buy our first house and I spent waaay too much money at our local antique store cuz I found all kinds of vintage sewing notions and patterns! No regrets!!

I came across this pattern today and love it so much but I can't find a single review or sewn example online for it anywhere and I really want to see how it actually fits and looks!

I would be interested in you making mens clothing. I want to start making stuff for my husband but Im scared to start! It's just such a different body!

    • @LizVonVillas

Very different body, but at least their stuff doesn’t have to be QUITE as fitted. It will take some experimentation, I’m sure!

I made the peasant top. Just be careful of the gusset. If you have to add width anywhere or alteration in that area the gusset with look funny if you dont alter that too. I didnt end up liking the pattern as i found the gusset and the "issue" of adding it unnecessary. To me it was pointless having it.

The original pattern pieces of the first pattern would not have any lines on it. The pattern pieces were already cut to shape and just had holes for for any markings.

    • @LizVonVillas
      @LizVonVillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’m not an expert on pattern history but I think it’s possible that it would have been printed! I have some ‘50s patterns that utilized printing vs the holes.
Regardless, it’s not the original printing style anyway. That being said, I’m hopeful that the pattern will remain true to the original in terms of drafting! That’s what I meant 😊 thanks for watching!
