With how every "pro" shop ive vistited treats me when i didnt buy my bow from them this is a nice video, saves me money and i dont have to support pretentious brand snobs at the shop.
You put up a great video of instruction. This is why I still shoot single cam bows in the 310 - 330fps IBO rating zone for hunting. That is plenty enough for hunting, and changing strings / cables, tuning = very, very, easy. A Mathews Z7 or Switchback XT, or even a Mission Venture, Journey, or Eliminator are very, very easy in comparison to change cables / strings / tune. The deer or elk you are hunting won't know the difference.
Thanks man I thought I was fucked until I found someone who had a great camera colored string so that I can see what tf was going on and a wonderful camera view
Great video, really breaks down the Mathews system. I was real bad about loosing shims, e-clips, axles...etc. I bought one of those little magnetic metal bowls you see a lot of mechanics use. Got it from Home Depot, sticks right to the top of the press, doesn’t get in the way and holds all the wee bits of the bow that are easily lost.
Hey Trail I just changed strings and cables on new vxr31.5 winners choice . Every thing seems to be good except I lost 4 lbs of draw weight ? That’s not normal is it ??
Yes I know it's old,lol.. I noticed you had nowhere to set the cam when it was removed. I would attach a small shelf/end table on the back of the press that is removable so you can move it left to right sides.. just a thought..
I have always heard never to remove a cam while the bow is pressed. I believe Last Chance Archery even states this in their owner manual for the press. Is it really safe to do that on these bows?
@@jeremiahjohnson3063 LOL! I guess I should have been more clear. The instructions with the Last Chance press and what I have always been told, is to press the bow, remove the strings and cables, then relax the limbs of the bow and remove from the press before removing the cam. I never meant to just try and remove a cam while it is under load from the string and cables.
If you prefer a worded instruction, here ya go. You'll need: A bow (duh) strings and cables a bow press 1. put your bow into the press ( I personally use the bowmaster, it's a nice cheap press that won't avoid any warranties, and it's portable) make sure to back out the limb bolts at least 3 turns on both sides to make pressing the bow easier and safer, your press won't have to work as hard. 2. Open your new strings and cables, try not to twist them as they are the perfect length when created and twisting will cause incorrect brace height and incorrect Axle to Axle Length. 3. One at a time, take off your string, and then your cables (other way around works) make sure to keep the piece of serving at the top of the bow, that is the center of the string and where you'll put your peep. You can take pictures beforehand if you need to. Another option is to take the old string and cable loops off one at a time and immediately replace them with the new set. This way you don't get confused which cable goes on which side your cables are or where the string goes. 4. Make sure that your strings and cables are in the right spot, and that the string is in the track of the cam before depressing the bow, just to make sure that they are secure. 5. Gradually hold up the string as you depress the bow that way you make sure your string stays secure as you release the pressure on the limbs and take the bow out of the press. 6. Reset your bow back to the previous poundage, check axle to axle and brace height to make sure that they are correct. Follow the steps of putting the bow in the press, taking the string or cable loop off the cam to add twists if needed. 7. You're done! Enjoy your new set of strings and cables! Hope this helps you all on a worded instruction on how to install strings and cables, keep in mind that this is not a worded instruction for Mathews, but this will work most of the time (never shot Mathews so I don't personally know if top hats or stuff like that would get in the way)
Don't need a press if losen your lbs adjustments screws all the way out. At least on the bows I own so far I have no problems I have a bear vast rth and a PSE Ferocity when I sell this Ford crown victoria I wanna buy the KRISIS but it's 1440$ lol it's a badass looking bow it looks something you kill aliens on Halo. Check it out it's crazy looking and it's not a normal set up they come with cases and stuff for them
One of the best restring videos I've seen. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this video! I'm going to put on some new strings on my vertix for the first time and this video has made it alot less intimidating.
Glad it helped!

Great Video Thanks for doing it, easier on a Bowtech with only 3 strings and not having to pull cams.

Interesting, the one set screw on my cable guard had the same issue
I invented and patented a compound bow that does not require a cable guard. An arrow is nocked the same way an arrow is nocked on any compound bow.
Does that press need different fingers for the VXR?
Depending on the press, the standard fingers should work on the mathews VXR.
Man the d loop

You need a press for real bows. Krisis??? Ahahahaha no
you didn't video the bow being compressed😢
What strings do you use on your Mathews?
Trail is putting on strings from a company called Buckslayer Bowstrings. It is a guy out of Ohio who custom makes them. Great quality!
@@GOHUNT awesome. Thanks!
