I feel bad for Cameron and all those other engines that the tank engine has claimed and how that CB&Q F unit is helping him. Maybe next year another engine will find a way to free them from the tank engine. I can think of one type of locomotive that could dwarf the tank engine. Big Boy.
In later episodes it's shown that the trainmaster seems to have a relationship with the ghost as that is how he got the caboose it makes me wonder if he deliberately blocked the line so Cameron would be captured maybe that's the deal he made with the ghost. Give it an engine and it return he gets access to whatever mystical powers it has.

As for Gerald, he was a mindless, tormented ghost locomotive like the ones that attacked Cameron. Gerald remained this way for ten years before clawing a new victim for Clayton’s Chaos, and was thusly set free.
Too bad you can’t recreate that in newer Trainz games released after TANE. Unless if one is experienced with using invisible tracks, and taking several shots from many angles, it would almost look like a realistic derailment.
From 10:40 to 11:39, where the heck did all of those engines come from? I am just going to guess that they were engines that have been caught by the 0-8-0T ghost. But if not, were did they come from?
