Ha ha! We could cavalierly say they knew what they were signing up for. But it takes an incredible amount of commitment and courage to serve as professional bait. I also think about this every time I see a scout or other lead element get made by opposing forces, like the scouts Vulcan lost here.
I wonder if there are games the military uses for officers to practice certain situations? We played a game the army was making in 2015 for infantry. You had a weapon that had a control pad on it so you could move forward and backwards and you knelt, went prone, or changed direction by your actual movement. It had like 15 FPS and opposition murdered us in like 5 seconds. They gave us one afternoon with it and that was it.
Absolutely, I know in the UK Army wargaming is definitely used for simulating potential and past war scenarios. Pretty sure they often collaborate with the US, Canada and NATO too.
In the UK, DSTL uses Command, and Combat Mission for a significant amount of their wargaming. I think that Command was actually developed for professional military wargaming before being released onto the public market
Hey Vulcan, do you know if these campaigns can be played co-op, either with multiple players on the same side microing units together in the same battle, or with players on opposing sides?
Those fighters charging through AA like the juggernaut through walls.
