That was me!! It was so awesome to meet ya'll. I think those caramel apple slices are one of the best things I ever made in my freeze dryer. I'm actually doing some "Jollies" right now for a friend. Candy so much faster and easier now that I have realized I can just watch them. I can do it more manually by going into the testing mode and just turning on the heat and the pump. Candy is done in like an hour!! There's no need to cool the chamber and there's no need to go into the freeze for a whole day. It's just a waste, when all you need it heat and the vacuum pump. But you do have to remember to turn it off manually! I did freeze dry the apples first and then I drizzled on the thick caramel candy and treated it as my quick candy processing. I'm sitting here with my Stivers calendula salve! It sits right next to my recliner. I use it as an everyday moisturizer on my face and as you would a triple antibiotic on cuts! Jen said she does the same thing! I won't be going this year but I'm sure I'll see you some other time. I'm really still looking at different areas I'd like to move. It would be so cool if I was closer to y'all. Much Love! Shandy XOXO Hamilton Ohio currently *Yes! You figure it out... instead of the water-based caramel sauce, I used melted Brach's candy cubes. Put them in the microwave and just add a tiniest bit of hot water too, so as it cools down it will make a thick squeezy spread that you can put in a pastry bag or ziplock bag and decorate your freeze dried apples!! Separately though. Oh by the way, After I wrote a big email to harvest right asking some questions about candy making. One of the guys called me! After talking to one of the technicians at Harvest Right, he actually confirmed what I was thinking. When candy needs heat only to expand, he said there's no reason I couldn't try it. He walked over to his machine after putting me on hold and confirmed that it would work out just fine as long as I stayed on top of the process... To use the testing mode. Manually just turn on things as you need them and it should work perfectly for candy. I think he even said he tried that himself on his candy once. Anyways! My candy process for the caramel drizzle was last! Give it another go y'all! I think next time I'm going to put little sprinkles on my caramel. When you get it right you will see it'll just sit right on top of the Apple, and it won't roll off at all. In fact when it starts to cool off it's a little hard to squeeze out. And don't use the can of dulce de leche. I thought that would work but for some reason it just did not. Either go with the Brach's or The Kraft candy. You need something that's solid and chili at room temperature. I'm so glad y'all are tackling this recipe and that you enjoyed my apples! Sorry I rambled on just like I did in person😂 @StiversHomestead
My goal is to have a freeze dryer one day. Love that you're always laughing and giggling and experimenting with all your stuff! Keep up the great videos!
We love our freeze dryer! It's a great way to preserve the garden harvest. I love experimenting with it as well. I need to try the caramel apples. Yum!!!
The zinnias are beautiful!! ❤ I am going to try those freeze dried caramel apples. I’m with you Jen, use that parchment paper! lol… You guys always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. Love you guys! ❤
My husband was asking me tonight "When does Oren Wooden's Apple House open?" The caramel apple idea is definitely something that we are going to try this year. We haven't tried any candy or anything in our machine - we've had for 6-7 yrs from when we lived on an island in Alaska. We've already freeze dried peaches and zucchini and many diverse herbs/flowers this year. Apples are definitely a must. Caramel, I imagine, will put them over the top! Thanks!!!
It would be nice if we had our freeze dryer! Sent it in for repair, they had it six or so weeks, we got it back and it had the same problem as when we sent it in! So they now have it again, and of course it's going to be another six weeks! Hope it's actually repaired this time! When you spend thousands of dollars on something it shouldn't need repaired especially in the first year!
I got 4 of your magic oil the other day and opened on right away. When I run my hands over my arms and back I have a mild rash and it’s itchy. Soooo I put the oil all over my arms and back and I have to say it calmed the itch down. I was amazed. I only used enough that the oil went right into my skin. I used the oil again before bad. I’ve done this for a couple of days an my skin feels soft and the bumpy feeling and been going away. All I can say is AMAZING. Love it. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
I learned after the first batch of freeze dried food to always use parchment paper. We have had the same machine you have for many years (see below - living in Alaska - now in Appalachia). Thanks again for sharing!
Produce section in grocery store carries caramel dip and caramel apple wraps either one of those would work also caramel ice cream topping would work too along with caramel baking bits found near chocolate chips
Yeah I guessed right ( didn’t cheat) I have a few carcasses in the freezer waiting for a cooler day to make broth! Does the pot you used throw off a lot of heat with the lid on? Thanks always great to see you guys! 💖🤗
I have a question about the freeze dryer. Are they so loud when running that you couldnt have in a kitchen or a spare room next to a livingroom? Trying to figure out a space for one 😊
I wash the squeeze bottle ur using an reuse them for stuff like ranch or other sauces that dont come n a good container for using like that bottle so instead of buying other containers i just already buy those y not reuse them ?
I wish I had a freezer dryer. I'm glad you enjoy it. For those of us whose budget doesn't allow for one, it's frustrating to have so many homesteading videos about them. Enjoy your caramel apples, but for now, I'll say goodbye.
They also offer layaway and different options to make them more attainable. Money normally is never the issue, it’s just a freeze dryer isn’t a priority for your family which is perfectly fine. For homesteaders it’s worth the money plus more
Sadly I have purchased TWO harvest right freeze dryers.. ONE with the oil pump and splurged with the oilless pump on my second one.. BOTH are DECESsED after less than a year of use.. the customer service is horrid and the price of these is off the charts.. TO replace the oil less pump alone to replace is over 1,400.00.... I've invested SEVEN GRAND in this company with ZERO customer service.... WHEN they work they are GREAT but having over seven thousand invested in junk isn't kosher....... nor beneficial to a farm....
That does look good; That’s the Standard American Diet (SAD). Take something God created ie natural and make it unhealthy. I’d have to be super careful because I could eat a whole tray- my quess 20hr
I guess I’m getting too bold instead of too old. Does Jen have a problem with tops that don’t accentuate her cleavage? Just wondering because it makes me uncomfortable. There’s a lot there.
Please please PLEASE do not put your phone in your shirt top. My 13 yrold neice lost one of her breast's due to cell phone damage. You have alot to loose... literally.. if the battety fails. Thru 4 and 5 g transmission radiation. Please just love your Natasha and don't put your phone on them.

I so enjoyed your fun video making the freeze dried caramel apples. You two are so cute!
have not gotten a freeze dryer yet, next on my list. Love seeing you two cook and/or experiment lol together
Try dusting apple slices with corn starch before adding Carmel (Kraft Carmel Candy squares)...
I understand Jen, I would clean the cup holders too!!!!!
Might have to buy a freeze dryer just for the snacks. Try the caramel candy next time, just a small piece. Love seeing you two smiling and happy.
Apples and caramel! Heck yeah! 👍
So nice to see you 2 laughing together. It made me smile and laugh too.

The zinnias are beautiful!! ❤ I am going to try those freeze dried caramel apples. I’m with you Jen, use that parchment paper! lol… You guys always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. Love you guys! ❤

Yuuuummmm!!!!
I have a question about the freeze dryer. Are they so loud when running that you couldnt have in a kitchen or a spare room next to a livingroom? Trying to figure out a space for one 😊
You should crumble those and sprinkle over ice cream of choice yummy
That was so cool!!!
Maybe try the Smuckers caramel syrup(squeeze bottle also) next time? It's thicker... Looks delicious though
I’m guessing 20 hours! 🤗
Yummmm
Could you make these in a dehydrator?
Possibly freeze apples before adding caramel. That would stop the spread of the caramel some.
20 hours.. yum
You guys are so funny!
Clean the cup holder for fun
If you look at the time stamp again on the Freeze dryer it actually says 20:59:47..so its 15 seconds short of 21 hours..lol
Benny was shaking his head . When my dog does that he usually has an itchy ear. Might take a look . Just a heads up. No offense. Love the apple idea💕💕

Why would anyone be so negative toward anyone that has worked so hard like the Stivers for things they have. How rude and shame on you.
They also offer layaway and different options to make them more attainable. Money normally is never the issue, it’s just a freeze dryer isn’t a priority for your family which is perfectly fine. For homesteaders it’s worth the money plus more
Wow! I was 1 minute off from being correct on the freeze drying caramel apples.
Jenn, I really like that suit on you. Beautiful lady ❤

It’s not gonna change. She is a proud confident woman. Probably best to watch a different channel
