      Thanks Greg, there is so much ground out there it’s crazy to rely on marks with the tech these days. When I get out to the reef I sit on 20 knots to get a clear reading and drive around the reef looking for bommies, I might drive past a fair few before I find one with the bait and fish on it and that’s where I’ll fish. It’s rare to have the same bommie loaded with fish on a different day with the difference in tides and current. I pretty much just go searching every time these days to try and understand it better..

    Hahaha yeah I find fishing along the tip and the shaft produces the biggest load, awesome to see more reef trips happening in the haines ✌

    Absolutely nailed this one friend, the local waters can produce, could you please let me know what model Simrad, your using, looks a lot like mine, and maybe do a talk through for us viewers on what you feel is a good quality sounder and why? Maybe on the next trip? Thanks Mick, always keen to watch! 😊

    great vid. Question what is the advantage of the twisted guides? I have 1 rod that has this but I'm not sure what difference it makes?

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spiral wrapped guide design is made so that the reel is rolled into your palm under load. It also requires less guides resulting in a nicer blank action and lighter rod.

    I just can't stand to watch that rod twist completely 180 °

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m not sure you understand so I’ll explain… it’s a spiral wrapped high modulus jigging blank, that’s made with the guides wrapped to balance the combo under load, and it has absolutely no blank twist whatsoever.,? That’s what it’s designed to do, less guides make a lighter rod with nicer action and the spiral wrap pulls the reel into your palm when fighting a fish. Very smart design hey!!

  • @greglindfield2767
    @greglindfield2767 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sticky drag. Rod twisting completely around itself. That is that crappiest fishing gear possible. I am out

    • @xXNiertroNXx
      @xXNiertroNXx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha don’t get out much mate? Rods are designed that way.. first runner starts on top, by the last runner, it’s on the bottom.. the twist forces the reel into the palm of your hand which allows greater control of the rod while jigging and fighting fish.. but seeing as you obviously don’t fish quality gear, you’d have no idea.. congrats, you suck at life..

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Didn’t you comment something like this on one of my previous videos, you need to get educated bro this ain’t no fiberglass rod flex and the “sticky” drag is me with my thumb and finger on the spool to have more control 😂

    • @adammalski
      @adammalski 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rod twisting around itself? It's a spiral wrap i.e. the intended design of the rod to avoid twist
