    I just got the FY6900 this week and have been using it for a few days and I do have to admit it is quite a nice AWG for the money. The one problem I see is the 60 mAmps that I can see on the BnC ground, but it is a known problem with these units. But other then that really well worth it's price. Once again thanks for sharing..

    Thanks for the review! I bought the Juntek (rebadged as a Koolertron CJDS98). It failed after 2 days of use. The second one failed after less than a month of use :-( One thing I did not like about the Koolertron was the way the modulation menu was implemented: one must change menus to set the frequency (not the carrier) and amplitude - and while you are in the menu with amplitude settings, the modulated output stops. I have since bought the Sigilent and have had none of those issues.

    Thank you for your video. I read some "old" posts on eevblog about a 4ns Jitter and recommending the UTG962. As you have a large experience with FY6900, what do you recommend: FY6900 or UTG962? Maybe you can do a video about the Jitter and other small problems. Thanks

    Thanks for sharing I enjoy your videos! This video is most unhelpful!!!! Haha I’m on the fence about my next DDS. I was down to the SDG1032X and the PSG9080, now you have me rethinking the FY6900 haha. Like the far reviews and opinions. I’m leaning toward the Siglent!
    What do you think of the software for each? Any winners in that area?

    Dr. Tom thanks for the information, question, if your looking into equipment for RF systems, isn't the harmonic content higher than what you would want to see? Do the commercial requirements call for the harmonics to be down by at least 60 dBm? Military community looks for 80 dBm down for spurious emissions testing.

      I think you are referring to spurious emission standards for radiated emissions controlled by the FCC. I may look at those at some point in the future under EMI, but , unless you are directly radiating the signal of the generator, those standards would not apply in a baseband generator. Of course, harmonics can cause problems in a baseband generator (see my playlist on Digital Modulation for examples) but, unless they cause the radiated carrier to exceed FCC requirements (including radiated and conducted EMI) they do not create a regulatory issue.

      @@tomtektest8042 wouldn't the harmonics in the baseband generator get up converted and be radiated?

    • @tomtektest8042
      @tomtektest8042  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@pbaemedan It depends on the baseband level, the carrier level and the modulator characteristics, which is why, regardless of how clean (or dirty) the baseband is, it is the responsibility of the licensee to ensure that the radiated emissions meet the FCC rules, regardless of the baseband generator specifications. I talked about this some in my videos on Digital Modulation, and it is certainly a good idea to have the cleanest baseband possible to eliminate artifacts like inter symbol interference, etc., but ultimately the burden is on the emitter to meet the radiated emission limits regardless of how the baseband is produced or its spectral purity.

    I wanted to buy the PSG9080 but now I'm not so sure anymore, can you explain when the THD comes into play or when it's important to have the least THD?
    The reason why I wanted to go for the PSG9080 is the higher frequency capability and compared to the FY6900 it's capable of higher frequencies with the square, triangle and arb waves, the overall specs are better with the PSG9080, however I'm not sure how that compares to the reality.

    Great video, can the FY6900 produce a mixed 2 tone(s) to test ssb tranceivers for linearity?( I know the new Siglent 1032x can)
    Cheers

    Tomektest does the PSG9080 have the ability to set a Negative offset?

    • @tomtektest8042
      @tomtektest8042  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the PSG9080 Offset can be from -10 Volts to +12 Volts.

    Здравствуйте, хотел спросить а генератор JUNTEK PSG9080 можно запрограммировать там где программируются последовательность различных сигналов во вкладке FUNC, чтобы работали SWEEP, VCO и модуляция?
    Если не знаете, попробуйте пожалуйста, очень нужно знать, делаю выбор.
    Hello, I wanted to ask if the JUNTEK PSG9080 generator can be programmed where the sequence of various signals is programmed in the FUNC tab so that SWEEP, VCO and modulation work?
    If you don't know, please try, I really need to know, I'm making a choice.

    This is all well and good if I want to sit here and watch tedious nuances between cheap Chinese function generators, but is there a bottom line which is best? Thank you.
