Great interview, discussion and investment perspectives, Hayley and Keith! As a very long term investor (44-yrs), I enjoyed your optimism, energy and shared investment wisdom. Started buying Palantir at $6/share, and continued accumulating a few shares on every pullback in share price. Alex Karp, is a very forward thinking CEO. I did not buy Tesla for the car business!!
I heard about Palantir in 2022. I like the part that it helped the military, since I am a veteran, and I solely invested for that reason, and hope for you good future return thank you for the inspirational words takes a lot of stress away

Disagree on certain points. Why should analyst price in robotaxi or Optimus when there is no revenue generated by the product. This is pure speculation that these products will work. In terms of pltr, we can somewhat justify the multiple because of the interest in AIP and potential future clients signing up for boot camps and seeing the positive use case.
I think you might enjoy my podcast coming out on Sunday, I speak to a guy who regularly does valuation models about this :)

So many points missed.
First you just listen to the optimistic CEO who is not going to Sell investors the downside. Musk is the ultimate marketer. (Just hope something doesn’t happen to him). Don’t lose the visionary.
It important to understand it’s very difficult to estimate the future. Even 6 months. The deferrals now in releases. The market is forever evolving, changing and challenging.
The longer the time frame the higher the risk.
I like the flippant comment regarding the long term oh Tesla fell by 10%,12% oh big deal…mmm..interesting..that is one heck of a big deal. It says there’s a lot of hype and hot money in the stock.
Playing with fire in Tesla stock.
You can only rely on the Current picture not something that Could happen in 2,5 or 10 years.
Industries are continually evolving. Competition is ever present. You can’t look out 5 years and say this will happen.
It’s pure speculation and spin.
It’s very important to understand there’s a fundamental and sentiment side to stocks.
There’s too much focus on the sentiment side currently.
The reality is the EV business is not going well.
Net profit down 40% in a year is a massive loss in earnings.
Losing half its market share in a few years. These should be concerning signs for punters but the brainwashing on the future is tainting the real picture.
Understand projects like Robotaxis and Optimus chew up massive amounts of capital before any revenue flow let alone profits.
On top of that the reality of their finalisation is highly doubtful.
Charging,cleaning etc in the former and the practical development and real usage in the home is non sensical in the latter. Yes in industrial production it will probably have great benefits but Tesla won’t be the only one using this technology.
The Chinese will develop their own.
It’s a battle that for years out is hard to predict.
Let’s see the figures in funding, budgets etc before just believing what the magic man’s spin is.
Tech has always undergone corrections and severe one like in 2022. Ask someone who bought stock in early January of that year what they thought when it fell 35%…not too good. More to the point Tesla falling 20% plus in a few days. A lot feeling a bit sick ATM..
Understand the fundamental and financial criteria that makes a stock good value first.
Stocks always good up? No they don’t. Timing is important and knowing the value of real investment in a stock is crucial. Not just pure speculation in the long term when so much can happen to change scenarios. You just have a look at the last 12 months to see that in what’s happened in the EV business let alone looking 10 years into the future.
Finally Hayley, it’s important to understand risk in stocks and portfolios.
Not just returns. That’s all he focussed on in the end. Do you want to make 2000% in Tesla or less in an index fund.
The point is Tesla is high risk and an ETF is low risk. Tesla fell 20% in 2 days. The Nasdaq 100 didn’t. There’s that huge volatility factor. Sentiment factor. If you get it right you feel like a millionaire but get it wrong and the pain is 3 times as much as the thrill (of a win).
At your age, invest in the long term. Don’t punt on predictions. Possibilities.
What’s more don’t put all of your eggs into 2 high risk baskets.
For sure place a small percentage into these 2 stocks say 10 to 20% and invest the rest into index ETFs on a regular basis. Be very careful averaging down due to concentration risk. In other words, you have 10% in Tesla and you double your holding it raised the risk of your overall portfolio.
The most important thing is think low risk. History has shown that investing in the Nasdaq 100 has yielded 22% pa compounded for the last decade. That’s over 700% return but it’s much lower risk than a single tech stock.
If you achieve even 15% compound pa for 30 years, the returns are amazing.

Palantir will NOT become a new Nvidia, MIcrosoft or Tesla. Palantir is a background company doing things nobody see or hear ever, 99.999% people have never heard of Palantir and won't ever hear,...unless they start doing something that people see, and maybe can use daily whether it's a software or some service people are using, like Google have search engine, Tesla have cars, Microsoft have operating system, Apple have phones etc etc.. Palantir have....nothing.
Ev will not be for long term hydrogen fuel will take over
