This cant be more perfectly timed. Today i went out to a walk and i wanted to take some pictures. After 1 hour of walking and literaly getting nothing worth my apreciation, i said "fuck it im going home again". I was so burned out looking for some kind of expectation that i just got mad, and thats sad af. I really need to get out and enjoy coming back with 1 or 2 good pictures and call it. Thanks for this video Willem. c:

Really enjoyed that dialogue about just going out and shooting. Brae did that in his last video when he went out in the rain as well. Sometimes you just gotta switch it up for the creative juice.

Had one of these days today, light and weather aren't exactly great but i had that itch to go about with my camera. The thing that i really love about photography is, that you never know what you will find. More often than not you'll find something interesting you would've never expected just by going out with your camera.

It is definitely easier to stay inside when the days are shorter and colder. If you do go out though, it makes you take different photos than you are used to doing. Luckily for me, I actually enjoy the peacefulness of shooting night photos in the snow. It's always so quiet! Also those shots where the flash catches the falling snowflakes are so good!

This was such a comforting video and not one talks about much. To me, the act of taking photos is what I love. Coming out with nice photos is a bonus. Also, didn’t realise a flash would make such a difference on showing snow! Good to know.

Your "weather conditions that weren't ideal" would suit my aesthetic just fine! Sure it's a pain in the arse to shoot in the rain, but as a Brit I haven't got much choice, and fortunately I love the look it gives; also a decent snowfall is still a rare treat to look forward to here, rather than something to struggle through every day for a couple of months. No doubt I'll get burnt out when summer rolls around, with the long hours of harsh daylight or boring flat grey cloud, and the tediously green trees.

It snowed heavily in London yesterday, so this video resonated with me. After some deliberation I headed out and shot a roll, and I'm very glad that I did. Even if I come back with ten frames of rubbish, I can still learn from that. Perhaps next time I can improve. If I come back with one good frame I'll be very happy. The alternative was sitting inside and achieving nothing! As I learn more about photography I am starting to appreciate that half the battle is having the desire and faith to capture something.

I understand what you’re feeling. I was going through my pictures recently and found that many of them are in good weather conditions and that is boring after a while. So I decided to go out in the snow and rain and shoot some pictures of winter.
Surprised I wasn’t too cold, but I am a veteran and I have learned to stay warm and dry and to most importantly KEEP YOUR GEAR SAFE.

Go digital, it's more than viable nowadays and for what you'd spend on film and chems in a year (if you shoot daily) you can get a pretty amazing cam and some glass. As time progresses film will be gone except for those few millionaires that have it made solely for them. (Apatow, Tarentino, Spielberg, Nolan etc.) It is good to know the theory behind it all and to maybe learn photog on film at first but digital is the way and the light. This is coming from a film LOVER. My point driven home; I highly doubt he shoots the videos on film then digitizes and uploads...

@@thegrayyernaut Yea man I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, I absolutely love film and the nuances of different cameras/lenses etc. Ilford seems to be going still but buy it all as you can. And don't forget to get a few Holga's as well. the factory closed 6 years ago.

I found in myself and my friends that we rely too much on motivation, but it ultimately comes down to discipline. It's hard to work around and get yourself up to get out there and make the work, but its always worth it when you do get out and do it -- even if the photos aren't your favorites (at the time!). One thing that I remember was said (by alec soth?) is that it's nice to have an idea, but an idea is only that until you actually act on it.
Great video and great lesson, happy to see you out and about again, looking forward to seeing more work as time goes. Keep it chill and make sure you're prioritizing yourself!
