    This guy is singularly amazing. Perfect phrasing, and so fluid. Most pianists show some fatigue by the time they get to this movement and rifle right through it. You hear absolutely every note in the runs in the right hand with him. Unbelievable. Dynamics are right on and it's not overly dramatic. Can't say enough good things. One of my favorite pieces, wish I could play it, and I think I've just found my favorite performer of it.

    After I went to listen chopin sonata no.3 (played by very very famous pianist but i dont want to reveal who he is. because I dont want to discuss about who is best. this is just personal preference.) , I have been looking for and listening to other pianists' chopin piano sonata no.3 on youtube. Although these days I have listened many famous pianists's chopin piano sonata no.3, I can say that this is the greatest performance in the whole world. There is no too much rubato, no too much dynamic. he just played. It is neet, light, clean. and there is nothing bothering me. After listening to this performance, I realized that a pianist could play a human-attracting performance without splendor. I actually want to listen to his chopin piano sonata no.3 in the concert hall. Blechacz.. please come to south korea. I don't leave comments on TH-cam often, but I like this video so much that I leave a comment.

      При таком опыте прослушиваний трудно что-то советовать, но все же хочу отметить, что эта соната очень хороша у Алексея Султанова. Его выступление с ней на 3 туре конкурса Шопена 1995 запоминается на всю жизнь.

    This piece almost sounds like Chopin decided he wanted to write a piece that only he could play. To me, the last movement sounds like 2 pianists. Could he have fit any more notes?
    How anything can be that busy and yet remain so aesthetically pleasing is a testimony to Chopin's genius.
    This is a really good performance of this piece- one of the best I've heard.

I can't speak for any other pianists but I know I would be EXHAUSTED by the time I got to the last movement of this sonata. Simply spectacular. I held my breath but the Inevitable lag in rhythms that occurs towards the end never appeared. There are so many great pianists who have performed this one and I seem to find (in my own amateurish way) something slightly "off" about most of them, the main culprit being speed, choppiness and phrasing. Blechacz keeps the tempo under control, maintains the syncopation and excels in long phrases.
    One of the few modern performers who match both style and virtuosity is the great Yuja Wang who remarked that this was one of the hardest Chopin ever wrote from both a performance and a theoretical viewpoint. You know a pianist is great when you don't notice any technical problems.

    • @geiryvindeskeland7208
      @geiryvindeskeland7208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Fowler, at 3:30, is it a real passion? I am not so sure about that. There are so many pianists playing the same way right there, they’re going down at pace. They play slower, not because of passion, but because of the technically demanding left hand. Note that Rafal Blechacz also increases the pace again at 4:03, because then the demanding part is over… I prefer a somewhat slower tempo from the beginning, so that the pianists are able to keep the same pace all the way.

    • @markfowlermusic
      @markfowlermusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@geiryvindeskeland7208 yes it's very impassioned, note the rubato he uses, it's very powerful, he deliberately holds notes longer to create dramatic tension, if you can't hear the any of this then that's your issue not mine.

    Blechacz’s rubato and phrasing here is the best of any live performance of the sonata and maybe even recording imo.

    @d4ni3lschi4v0 I agree with you!
    That is one of the most sublime moments of this movement, and where Rafal lee excellent transition to become the main theme, accompanied by powerful arpeggios (6x2).
    Although all the work is interpreted notably, other points cusps could be:
    Initially, between 00:30 and 00:40, in 2:45, in 3:10, where the chromatic give way to a furious descending arpeggio (must be one of the best), and the final Staccato, at the 05:00
    What more could you want?

    i'm always fascinated how they play from "heart" and not with music. They don't need a stitch of written music. It's etched in their heart. Brilliantly done.

    I remember reading in the liner notes of an old “LP “ a musicologist commenting this movement being on the level of the best of Beethoven. Especially when listening to this young master I heartily agree. I first came upon it about two weeks ago and simply cannot leave it alone. I have mentioned in a prior comment that sharing the same birthday with Chopin gives me an inside track to the depths of his musical psyche. From a very young boy his music moved me as none other could. A few days ago I considered the first and last movements of this sonata to be the Mount Everest and Alps that loom above the accidental valley of two sublime garden brooks. Though the first of the two is quite jocular. Chopin is the hero of all musical poets and the last movement shows him at his virile best. He obviously disdained any difficulties for the sheer beauty and power of his truly awesome concepts. Small wonder that practically every one of his pieces are staple of the repertory. I expect to return to this performance many more times. Thank you Mr. Blechacz! Paul W. Green

    Послушайте эту сонату в исполнении Алексея Султанова на 3 туре конкурса Шопена в Польше в 1995 году. Она у него очень хороша!!!В октябре 2023 года на конкурсе Шопена в Нэшвилле был впервые вручен Гран-при Мемориала Алексея Султанова в память об одном из величайших пианистов современности, ушедшем от нас в 35 лет.
