As a backer of both Project Cars 1 and 2, the best thing in my opinion is that Reiza have finally done what Slight Mad promised to do all those years ago. I for one have so much respect for Reiza, both their paid-for and free DLC have all been top quality. Plus they continue to tweak the wonderful Madness Engine making it a sim that keeps evolving. Bravo Reiza.
@@pitlanes Isn't it just! I've been away from sim racing for almost 2 years (injury) and it's amazing what Reisa have done with Ams2 in that time. I've got some new equipment including a CSL DD 8Nm and the ffb in Ams2 feels good, very good, plus the new track versions and yet more cars, it's come a long way since launch, Reisa are doing an outstanding job. I really think if they do something with the multiplayer we could see an influx from iRacing.
Literally picked up AMS2 this weekend as I am getting into sim racing and heard some good reviews of this game. What an exciting time to jump in! Thank you for covering the new info.
Hey Pixel, I am in the same situation. I have tried others sims /acc for a few hundred ours/, and at the end, I found AMS2 most intuitive, and somewhat forgiving. and fun with the awesome shiny machines!
I'd like to see some of the car sets fleshed out a little now. More historic cars to go along with the historic circuits would be fantastic. Looking forward to the Formula Junior cars.
Have been playing AMS2 for just over a year now, and hearing this news about the tire/aero/suspension physics changes is absolutely the biggest news coming. Never knew it was trying to decipher different engine's coding just to get any feedback at all. Really hoping those updates bring it up to par with other popular sims. Also hugely looking forward to the Formula USA 2023!
News about upcoming classic Formula Junior content speaks right into my heart! But afraid the lightweight short wheel base single seaters will really stress the shortcomes of AMS2 especially speaking suspension and often weird mid-corner behaviour. Curious about whether the June physics updates will do any good here (hope so!). Should put a note-to -elf on doing before/after physics tests for Formula Junior @ the Südschleife, much fitting this series.
Barcelona is a great addition track wise. Good to hear. And awesome that it is still included in the season pass 2022. What I hope for (listed here in no special order): Zolder, Zandvoort (please Reiza, multiple years, please), Sebring, Road Atlanta.
As a hardcore AMS2 player, I’ve since went back to ACC after their beyond-awesome 1.9 update. Will be returning to AMS2 once they get that ridiculous rear end lateral grip worked out on the cars. Looks stunning in VR though.
AMS2 is the best sim ever, and its only getting better. The Leagues, the community, the racing is so tight. I had a race last night where my best lap and another persons were .001 apart. and then the next race, it happened again.
They need a service like LFM (for ACC and RF2) this will make it interesting. Unfortunately i know the LFM devs wanted to include AMS2 but it was impossible because of the way servers are set up. Hope they can make that easier.
I only do VR and AMS2 is the best for that. The nostalgia you feel driving round a track from the past like Silverstone in 2003 the first time I went to a Grand Prix. Just the idiot running onto the track in a kilt is missing.
I still haven't got this yet, as I mainly play online, and in that respect it seems largely dead. Will pick it up in the next sale, I feel now like I'm missing out

Quite many comments wishing improvements for multiplayer. Yeah, could be, I've never got to test multiplayer properly, because -all- none of the cars I've test driven so far feel "real". I mean, I don't really know how a race car would handle, I'm comparing to games like RaceRoom, AC, ACC, RBR, DirtRally 2, ... and I feel like AMS2 is missing something. Someone in the comments described it as "driving on ice"... It's kind of the feeling I have as well, except that the grip level on actual ice is often much worse. I could say AMS2 feels like driving a slot car; I've never felt like I'm in control of the car really. The FFB is strong enough and I don't see any big flaws in it. But somehow the physics are still broken after the last big improvement. I haven't lost my hope, though. I'll definitely try the new version as well. But there needs to be a major improvement to get closer to what actual sims feel like.

This is still a great game. For me, the handling does still need some work. ACC now feels great… this game would be so much better if it had handling like that game. Don’t get me wrong, it has moments of brilliance, but the handling can be temperamental, and can also feel a bit vague for some cars. Still, I’ve bought all the dlc, and don’t regret it. I think Reiza are delivering updates upon updates, and as such, it can only get better… I would really appreciate a full career mode, like PC2, or even better. Other than that, I really look forward to seeing how this progresses.
How does this sim perform with a standard controller? I am new to SIM racing and to be honest don't have custom rig capabilities at the moment, but want to get stuck in and start racing with some form of success.
Depends on licencing. It's "Circuit de Barcelona-catalunya" and either place name is acceptable (the circuits own website lists them) As for suzuka, it's because they've not paid to licence it. So they can't name it.
Sounds like a great update coming, Can't wait for them to screw it up as usual. I really do like playing the game for it's entertainment value, but of course that also means I need to accept the fact it is no more realistic than Forza Motorsport. My guess is, after this huge update drops, I will fire up the game to find the cars I drive still handle like crap, the wet weather still makes the cars un drivable, and really nothing will have changed. But of course, that is because I don't drive GT or Formula cars. Example: tThe Caterham 650r will be unchanged and still handle like crap. Even Project cars 2 has more realistic handling for the Caterham 650r.
Very subjective of course… I can drive the 650r with a grin from ear to ear… yes it’s a handful and I would expect a little more grip but fun can be had… just have to caress it gently 😉
@@dgm2492 It's actually a 620r , little typo there, but it doesn't change the issues :-) It's not that its a handful, It's completely unrealistic in AMS2, I have driven the car in real life. and even Project cars 2 gets it closer. :-)
I got very annoyed that they were continuously adding cars without revisiting the physics, nearly every cars suffer in acceleration with snap oversteer especially the non tc light weight cars like the caterhams, m1 procar, 2002 tubo and so forth. they added the supercars, nice add but after 20 mins i was done with the Senna due to the physics and others. And, cold tyre I think has too little grip compare to its optimal temp. I really hope they're not hiiting a wall with the game engine.
Rip Indycar 😔, maybe they got the license and the real car model is trademaked, so we have the cheap one for AMS2. At least we still have a really cool indy mod 🙏
@@pitlanes Too bad, there was official screenshot by Reiza of the IR-18, but now they released somthing different. This Formula USA is so outshaped, that it made me think either Indycar can sue them for the car design, or Reiza did get the contract for the official Indy game and the Indycar don't want AMS2 to overshadow there game. Any of this look plosible by the fact that the Aeroscreen doesn't come close to the real thing XD
Has this got any better physics wise since release, I refunded it when it felt exactly like PCars? I've always hated the Madness Engine's physics, it's like the cars rotate on an axis, this goes all the way back to Ferrari Racing Legends. I recently re-installed Shift 2 for a laugh and quickly remembered why I never finished it, the handling is raw garbage, constantly shifting between oversteer/understeer and I've found all games on Madness have this quirk. Wish Reiza had had either stuck to their own engine or payed for Kuno's AC or AC Conpetizione engines as they're FAR superior imo.
Here i was hoping we finally may have gotten news about any competitive multiplayer. AI racing is boring tbh. After 1-4 races i cant bring myself to do more. Its stale, MP is unpredictable and more challenging. Way more satisfaction. Can someone please provide a good competitive multiplayer experience and finally release us from iracing? I dont want to go through third party websites, where in some cases after signing up you cant even find enough people to fill 1 grid. Imagine having that in AMS2. You could have historic series travelling through time as the season goes. So many different tracks and cars. But yet again, they add content that you will play a handful of times then forget. I want to play AMS2 more. specially with how great their vr support is. And yet, i cant find a reason to do it. Real shame.

I'm glad there trying to make it better . Me personally I'm not liking how some cars handle . Everyone of there cars should drive so good that U cant wait to come back to drive it again . I think the old Corvette drives terrible . I think there is too much emphasis on a car handling the way it was or what they decide . Just make every car a joy to drive . That I think is the most important thing if they want to successful . . .
Until AMS2 makes you actually be able to feel what the front end of the car is doing, I'm still not interested. The FFB feels extremely weak and vague no matter what I do with the settings. All the content in the world means nothing if it the driving itself is unrewarding and not fun. The original Assetto Corsa's FFB still feels miles better than anything I've played in AMS2 and is more consistent in quality across the range of vehicles in the game. I really hope AMS2 FFB can at least be a comparable level in the quality FFB in AC as I'd love to have another sim with so much content to be able to play regularly.

No, no and yet again no...best dev team (REIZA!) but the absolute wrong horrible Ian Bell's (hurt to write that name) crappy game engine. I bought AMS 2, tried it and refunded within 30 minutes...it is that bad. Im still racing AMS 1 though as it is stil in my top 3: rFactor 2, AMS 1, Assetto Corsa
This game has still so many bugs and glitches. Things that still not work properly. It's unbelievable that's people hype this game so much. I can make a list that gets long as the Chinese wall.
They are wasting so much $$$ on overpriced content instead of focusing on what people actually want and what is currently asked for by a whole sim racing community...online ranked racing They are wasting so much potential
They are working on it lol, but don't think things are so easy to fix, if they have a chance to release content to make the game more interesting, they will.
Reiza are a small team and they have to generate income. Not sure why you think the DLC price is overpriced. Its inline with other games DLCs plus consider the 100s of hours it takes to create all this. In my opinion the price is reasonable. I guess were spoiled with sso much free content these days. I agree the online experience hasn't been great so far. Hopefully the recent updates will sort some of that out.

The tracklist of AMS2 is great - the absence of Le Mans and Sebring are the only glaring omissions.

Just make ffb as good as asseto corda and you have a winner.

In race save game so we can do endurance racing them I'll drop ACC.

Interesting. What wheel do you have? I've never had that issue at all. I'd consider it very far beyond AC ffb
Since i am using a custom ffb i cannot even go back to AC anymore. For me now AMS2 has the best ffb feel of all the sims.

Reiza are a small team and they have to generate income. Not sure why you think the DLC price is overpriced. Its inline with other games DLCs plus consider the 100s of hours it takes to create all this. In my opinion the price is reasonable. I guess were spoiled with sso much free content these days. I agree the online experience hasn't been great so far. Hopefully the recent updates will sort some of that out.
@@simmadpaul2880 Their DLC alone costs as much as 2x ACC + all DLC, and ACC uses real world data on ALL cars and laser scanned tracks...as somebody who only does online racing its way overpriced for what it is
