We have Bowman SiB in against EH Taylor SmB, but we prefer Bowman over Blanton's so much non-blind that we didn't consider doing it blind. Great recommendation Thomas!
@@stuffandwhiskey thought it would be a good one since bowman is thought to be blantons distilled one time in Virginia. I also feel bowman is better. At 100 proof the flavors stand out. Bowman getting harder to find.
We’re against the grain on that bottle for sure. The last time we poured it non-blind to just enjoy we ended up not even finishing the glass. Just highlights how every palate is different. Cheers and thanks for watching!
During the tasting, you both unknowingly were describing the differences between single barrels and blends. Single barrels tend to have sharper, more unrefined notes, but can also have a lot of character. As opposed to blends or batches, which are more likely to be well rounded, less aggressive, but tend to taste/smell more towards the classic notes. Great matchup & great video! Cheers!
That’s an interesting point ISDP! Can’t say it’s ever stood out to us before (Russell’s vs Rare Breed for example) but we’ve got a gang of single barrels and will have to give them a taste next to other similar products with that thought in mind. Could make for a fun video actually. Cheers and thanks so much for watching!
Thanks ORIF! The beauty of the double blind is that sometimes stuff that’s supposed to be good comes across underwhelming. Doesn’t make for the most exciting theater but at least it’s honest-especially when you’re dealing with two bottles that each have their fair share of hype behind them.
With both being trickier and trickier to find, we're not upset with how they've fared in blinds, but it is a bummer for folks that really love them. Hopefully you've got access or a good supply saved up to last a while. Cheers John!
Many people like to refer to Early Times BIB, as a good cheap bourbon or good for the money. It's no coincidence, that this is becoming harder to find, even in Kentucky. This is a solid pour, and it stacks up well against many of the more expensive Bottled in Bonds. Just my opinion. Cheers 🥃
It’s definitely a crowd favorite. Just wish it hit our palates a bit better. We’d stock up as it’s still reasonably findable in our local market. Cheers and thanks for watching Shawn!
Is it wrong if we say neither FTW? 😂 Don’t love how this one turned out but we can’t manufacture excitement and both of these were pretty underwhelming for both of us. All good I suppose. More Blanton’s and Early Times for the folks that love them because we won’t be buying more of either.
@@stuffandwhiskey i find the early times impressive for the cost. Its sweeter than turkey is and about the same proof. This is your channel, you make the rules.
I have a new crazy fixation…if I see a video like this, and I have both bottles, I join in. I so agree with y’all, and pray that Early Times BiB stays with us for a while. Here’s to us both having a bottle of Russell’s 13 one day,
Based on what we found during this blind tasting (and several others with Blanton's), you're not missing anything remarkable. Good solid bourbon, but then again, so is Early Times. Cheers and thanks for watching Greir!
Early times is half the price, easy to find, and tastes amazing. Blantons is always iffy from bottle to bottle unless you can score a bottle from Rick 10 or lower
Can some one give me a note on the finish for early times other than licking a fresh tire? I REALLY like this bottle but the ending notes as I swallow taste like rubber. I need a different note to switch my brain 😂
I love the ETBIB and can find it fairly easily now. I still haven't had a Blanton's and I'm not really hunting for one for 2 reasons. 1, I keep hearing that it's overrated. 2, a friend of mine has a bottle and when he opens it, I'll get to try it. Cheers!
You gotta wonder if it’ll come back in stock in the future or if it’s going the way of so many Sazerac products. For those that love Early Times, hopefully the former.
Thanks Vanilla Ice Erin! 🎤 🧊 Appreciate the blind “head 2 head”. Enjoyed the video! Since Brown-Forman has sold the Early Times brand to Sazerac which bottle do you have? The new bottle has a notch in the glass on the back and the previous offering does not. They do taste different to me.
Great eagle eye there Michael! Be sure to check our newest video podcast episode that just came out this weekend (why you shouldn't play games to get allocated whiskey). Josh gets nerdy about his Lamys!
We can't find ETBiB in Pa.. but I can drive up to NY and they have it in one store I go to. If you watch our show you'll see ETBiB is my daily drinker.. that stuff is so good.. you can taste a Lil youth in it.. but $25 a liter. That's a win all day
I’ve had fantastic Blanton’s and I’ve have Blanton’s that is just meh. It just goes to show how single barrel bourbon can vary - and I know that they try to ensure consistency
It's probably not a term we coined but we call it single barrel roulette. You never know what you're going to get. That's part of the fun to be sure. Cheers Mike!
I'm a little late to the party, but I would pick Early Times over Blanton's any day.
I love your blind bourbon skirmishes! I need to take notes!
The thought of the #WTWT aka the #LPLP taking notes from us? Aww shucks, Patt!
I get way more sweet oak and finish on Early Times.
Thank you for the review. You guys are awesome.
Thanks so much Marcos!
Need to do blantons and John bowman single barrel

Early Times usually nails these contests on most channels. Interesting.

ET any day 👍😉🥃
Great video, the last part was great.lol
Never know what we’ll put back there. 😉 Cheers and thanks for watching Michael!
People go nuts over the Blanton's BOTTLE
That's a very good point. The bottle itself, and what it represents (the hype). Cheers and thanks for watching man!
Another good battle! Blanton’s here 150.00 and ET 22.00 for a liter
I also feel like Blanton’s is sharp, also a little watery. I have some barrel strength that drinks easier than Blanton’s.

I love Early Times BiB. Chocolate covered cherries is the taste I get the most . I love that flavor profile
Great review!
I like them both!!!

@@stuffandwhiskey Thanks guys! I love your channel! You are definitely an inspiration for whiskey couples! 🥃
Summed it up perfectly by saying, "I'd rather have WT Rare Breed and (a 1.75 of) EW BiB and spend less than Blantons!"
They are honestly pretty similar whiskeys overall to me. The difference is the price. Early times bib ftw.
Is it wrong if we say neither FTW? 😂 Don’t love how this one turned out but we can’t manufacture excitement and both of these were pretty underwhelming for both of us. All good I suppose. More Blanton’s and Early Times for the folks that love them because we won’t be buying more of either.

Well done, y’all.
Oh, to have a bottle of RR13! We like your style on joining in. That’s part of the fun for sure. Cheers and thanks so much for watching David!
What is your budget, if you don't mind me asking. And, why would you buy Blantons again if it's just OK?
Mainly to have the bottle to share to be good hosts. And our “fun money” budget is ~2.5% of our total monthly budget.
Josh has the best reactions during the reveals lol. And nice Quad City DJs reference!
The reveal is definitely one of our favorite parts as well for that same reason!
Poke it with a stick, do something. Lol. Really enjoy ET never tried Blantons, not available. Never really wanted to
Based on what we found during this blind tasting (and several others with Blanton's), you're not missing anything remarkable. Good solid bourbon, but then again, so is Early Times. Cheers and thanks for watching Greir!
+8 points for the sexy Blanton's bottle though!
Right!? 😂 It’s a crying shame aesthetics doesn’t count in our scoring.

@@stuffandwhiskey it's not your fault. But keep an eye on it my palate flip flopped all over the place after I had covid
Still have never seen Early Times BiB around here.
@@patrickq7489 yeah it's not available in some places. I got family in Ohio that usually bring some when they visit.
@@timfehn4637 send them my way some time😁

That's the move right there--sharing whiskey with friends is how we've been able to try as many things as we have. Cheers to that!
Not a fan of Blanton's, but I really enjoy Early Times BiB. My bottle is running low, but I can't find a replacement anymore.

That’s actually a good question. We got ours several months back. Will check and report back.
Is that a Lamy fountain pen that Josh is using to take notes?
Great eagle eye there Michael! Be sure to check our newest video podcast episode that just came out this weekend (why you shouldn't play games to get allocated whiskey). Josh gets nerdy about his Lamys!
Funny, I can find Blantons now and then but I've never found Early Times BiB.
That's wild but awesome to hear that Blanton's is available at least somewhere. Cheers and thanks for watching!

WHISKEY CHEERS
Whiskey cheers Jay G, although we may grab some other bottle to cheers with over these two. 😬
I like both of them. I snagged four bottles of ET BIB when I heard they were sold. Blanton’s is fairly easy to get where I live.
That's awesome to hear, Roscoe! Cheers and thanks for watching!
