    My grandad passed away and left his one to me. My brothers had a good laugh but I’m still driving in 700 miles a month for work. It’s 18 yo and looks like the one in the video. ❤

    My girlfriend used to have it for years before we moved. I loved this car, so much space (you have to get in it to believe it), so practical, efficient, economical, and quality. Plus, it has a 4wd setting when you go below 20kmph. It makes absolutely no sense for people to be driving around in huge trucks and suvs, especially when probably the same people are complaining about the environment. I wish they had this car in North America.

    I always drove whatever car my partner chose. But after the divorce , at 50, this was the one I wanted! And I love love love it. They can be found for quite low prices with quite low mileage, because it is the proverbial Granny car and no macho man wants to be seen in one. Got mine when it was 20 years old, only done 80 K km on it, and paid 2400 euro for it. As expected, I invested another 2000 in fixing her up over the next year. Installed parking sensors, new battery, new V-wire, new wipers. I also replaced the pioneer car radio/cd player with a bluetooth player. First a cheap one, but that sucked down the battery. Then a second hand JVC and that worked fine.
    Also, a neat trick: my Suz black plastic grille, roof handles, all had become weathered grey. I did reseach and mixed a bit of linseed oil with white spirit and treated the grey plastic. It turned out beautifully black, like new, and i only have to repeat this once a year.

    Bought 17 years old one yesterday. My first ever car :) I'm a small person so I can dance around there is so much space for me, I can sit very high so feel self confident too. It's automatic, has only 90k miles on the clock and the only thing I have to work on its paintwork as it's quite oxidized. But one door is done and looks wet shiny after I spent a few hours on it last night.
    For £300, yes please ❤

    • @Thereal_prettyinblack
      @Thereal_prettyinblack 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @George Duffy since my last post I have finished paintwork restoration and its blood red, shiny and beautiful. Changed peeling badges to new ones, blackened all the trims, installed new front bottom grill mesh and touched up all the stone chips and fixed rubbed paint on thresholds with a carbon fiber tape. The car looks amazing, drives beautifully and I absolutely adore it. ❤ I'm not a fan of modern "bar of soap" shaped cars at all. Squarey and boxy is the way! 😃

    • @Frederiekje221
      @Frederiekje221 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really interested in what you did for cosmetic touch ups. I blackened my faded plastic trims with boiled linseed oil ( Google it, it really works) and spraypainted the antenna and rear window wiper. What did you do with regard to the peeling badges ( what badges, where to buy?) And this carbon fiber tape, where?

    • @Frederiekje221
      @Frederiekje221 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've also renewed silicone caulk edging around the front window, rubbed the rubber with vaseline, and cleaned weather spots on the inside ceiling with a toothbrush with a little bleach. I also took out the old radio cd player and replaced it with a Bluetooth player.
      What else did you do?

      @@t3m4t0r68 The 1300 engine makes it more nippy than the old 1000, although you may lose some of that with an auto. Get the later version with 3 seat belts in the back. My 2000 model has only 2 although you could get 3 passengers in. You will be pleasantly surprised just how much you can pack in the back with the seat down.
