  • If we needed to call out one standout feature from the entire W2W MTB round up it would be the Pivot Trail 429's suspension. What a ride. Watch along to hear Whitney's take on the ride.

Love my Trail 429 but I am a Santa Cruz fanboy too! It's not quite as plush as the Tallboy, very efficient climbing, maneuvers like a 27.5 bike, feels like the Porsche of short-travel trail bikes agility wise. The Tallboy is the most capable short-travel trailbike and plushest, the Pivot is pretty close capability wise & not quite as plush, but climbs a little faster. The Trail 429 climbs on par with the Ripley (depending on terrain), which is the standard you compare to with short-travel trail bikes, but it's not twitchy up front like the Ripley and a lot more planted. The Tallboy doesn't climb as fast but is VERY efficient so you won't feel anymore tired and you will get there in comfort. The Trail 429 climbs faster, it especially encourages you to stand up and pedal, while the Tallboy is a more sit & grind comfortably up the hill. Both have a quality fit & finish above any other bike brands in that category. I hope that helped.

Santa cruz robs people blind. Their spec choice is ridiculous given their pricing. Never buy a SC unless you've got spare parts laying around.

Great looking bike. Also considering a Tallboy. Any opinions from you guys?

The 429 should feel a little livelier under power but the Tallboy will feel a bit more planted in rough stuff. Small differences as both bikes are good at the same general terrain but one might match with your style better.

Please don't buy a santa cruz. You're getting robbed as their spec is terrible unless you're paying top dollar. You're just spending money on the frame warrenty and the SC name.

@@DB-sd3cw Well i rode a heckler for 6 years and have been on a Tallboy LTc for the past 11, so id say that has been money well spent. They both have taken all the abuse i have dished out to them.

I have a Switchblade and I think it's the best bike made for long rides. Capable and comfortable
