Finally bought one of these for myself! I modified my own as well because I didn't trust that flimsy plastic piece that attaches to the spring. It looked like it could break or tear really easily. I had my dog trained on the bike before I bought one these, it's really nice to not have to worry about where the leash is, just the dog.

Thank you for your informative video! I actually just started cycling with my Standard Poodle as he requires LOTS of exercise! Up till now I have been using a standard 4' lead and he has done really well. We have had a couple of close calls where he has attempted to get in front of my bike but luckily we have both come out unscathed. Also helpful to mention that having a good foundation of obedience training is also helpful, at least in my case it has been. I just purchased a similar rig for my pup that I will receive in a few days. I'm excited that both he and I will be getting good exercise!

Super Informative thank you so much! Gotta say the best part was seeing how much Shelby loves to run in the end. it made me awe out loud and giggle. I kinda feel like a bad Husky mama now. I need to get my pup trained so she can run with the bike. Storm also loves to run and I don't take her nearly enough right now. When spring comes I won't have an excuse but I will be honest. I am a little nervous teaching her to run with the bike. Wish us luck!

Absolutely GREAT vid!!! Just LOVE to see dog ('Kelby'? 'Shelby'?) running, "in the zone" as Cesar calls it.
We foster dogs (we adopted our first foster doggy, making us 'foster failures') but because of strength issues we stick to small dogs. We stay in Florida in the winter, and since I am not suicidal there is no way I will bike on the road; in stead I decided we take our dogs for a run next to the golf cart which they absolutely love, and I now realize I need a harness like you have, because of the pressure on the neck when they're hooked up from a collar. I am not sure if I dare to do the bike thing when we're back in VT but I will do my best to find something to give them a good workout.
Again, thank you so much for this great video!!!

I love this video! My bf and i were talking about biking with our husky, but i was nervous because i didn't want him to get hurt or us from the bike tipping over. I've seen people biking with their dogs, but i'd never seen one of these attachments - they usually hold the leash and bike. This seems so much safer and easier. The only thing i'm wondering is, will our dog be able to do this? We rescued a blind, 8 year old husky. He's pretty good with commands, but he can't see.

Great video :D I just have one question! I have a 7 month old male husky and want to do this with him as we have great bike tracks where I live. I have took the bike along on walks, just walking with it so he can get used to it and have also let him trot along side to the end of my road ( a short distance). How far/long do you think is safe for a 7 month old? I know to gradually build the distance up but dont want to over work a pup!

I am getting into bikejoring and scootering and have been researching for awhile since the future dog(s) I will be getting shall be used for this purpose so they can be exercised. However just for normal biking is their like a double version of the springer? Or if not is their a 2-dog system you recommend? I've seen some people just do it with leashes one dog on either side but otherwise?

I have a fabulous pit bull mix (75 lbs), well trained. We run a lot but no matter how much we run, he can always go farther/faster/longer. So that's why we started biking. Everything is pretty great except for occasionally when he sees a bunny or squirrel and loses focus. It is hard to safely redirect while on a bike. I'm afraid he's going to yank away and we'll crash. Right now I have him on a leash and I'm interested in getting the springer but not sure if I should for this reason?

I have the walky dog and mine is always spinning forward since my sleddogs are always pulling like their life depends on it and gets caught in my feet. I've been looking at the springer since it looks harder to spin. For now, I've just been training with a bikejoring setup, but rookie dogs tend to like to run next to me while they are learning. Also, maybe I'm missing it in the video or in the links, but what's the link to the harness? Thanks :)

I know that spring takes some of the pull away... but say this dog is determined to chase this even if they know commands but they saw something and kinda shut you out... would pulling on the second leash help? or what else could I do? I have an 8 month old German Shepherd Dog Timber Wolf hybrid puppy. He is huge and loves to run but I cant keep up for the life of me. Im buying a bike so we can run together. He is in great shape, knows all his basic and advnaced commands and is very well mannered. My only problem is that since he is part wolf his motion sensitivity is higher than the average dog. If he suddenly pulled to get a cat would it make me fall? He weighs 82 lbs and im only 114 lbs. Also your husky is cute :3

  • @thosecoldhands

I'm adopting a 4 year old husky from a shelter in about a month, and they really reccomended us to let him run next to a bike every now and then. I'd really like to let him run as much as he wants to, but as he is kind of a big dog (even for a husky) I'm afraid I might not get him to stop. So, my question is, is it hard to get your husky to stop running once it's started? For example, if you have to stop by a crossroad etc. It'd be much appreciated if you'd answer! c:

  • @Madhatteralice18
    @Madhatteralice18 11 ปีที่แล้ว

I use a leash because it is more easier to control my dogs while I'm riding my bike than a springer because if something happens and your dog gets excited or whatever and pulls, and as its connected to the bike, the bike might end up falling onto your dog..have seen this happen to my friend. Plus I have been doing this with all my dogs since I was a kid. But then my dogs,my wolf hybrid and my german rottweiler are not like everybody's,they are proffessionally trained attack/guard/protection dogs.

Do you think it'll damage their bone structure if they keep running on cement?

Thank you for the informative video. I am thinking of buying a Springer and harness. I was wondering why you need to use the regular leash on the collar when you have the dog attached to the Springer while biking?
I have trained my dog to bike with me and obey biking commands,, although I ride very slowly, (like a fast walking pace) and watch her closely. For these reasons, I have not felt it was dangerous to wear a collar and use a regular lead. I live rural where there are few hazards. I was just thinking that using the Springer would increase my confidence and make it safer for my dog enough to kick up a little bit more speed.

Huskies have high prey drive so that means at any second the bike safety attachment could snap off and her dog could run off into oncoming traffic. With her having the leash and collar it could save her dogs life.
I also keep a collar and leash on my husky when using this bike attachment

Hmmm, really not trying to be argumentative, but what is the point of the springer if it isn’t to keep the dog from running after a squirrel or into traffic? If the regular leash is needed then why not just use the regular leash with no springer?@@KhaosPups

Super dumb question. How do you set the pace? If the dog is going too fast, do you softly hit your brakes, and they feel the pressure and slow down? What happens if either the bike or the dog have to come to a sudden stop for any reason, I guess the Springer absorbs the shock so you have a chance to stop together?
