they can fight at welterweight no problem. but i believe with roach on GSP side is an advantage plus GSP is a seasoned grappler maybe the best conor would have ever seen.
Honestly it isnt much of a question. GSP is undoubtably the best physically, mentally, and intellectual, fighter we have ever seen. JJ and Silva were lethal but GSP has shut down knock out artist in his prime and certainly has the brains to shut down and neutralize a guy smaller than him. I am sure Conor knows he wont beat GSP but his ego wont admit that. Plus what can Conor really say to GSP in a press-conference? Brag about more money? or mock his accent? GSP has the greatest MMA Resume, never popped for PED, avenged both his losses, most UFC wins, most title defences. He still hold the record for most takedowns even after taking a 4 year break. Conor has been exposed for having no ground game, it was visible vs Diaz and Mendes. GSP would rag doll him and most importantly embarrass him, which wouldnt be good for UFC in terms of Conor as a draw.

Only reason his cardio was medicore was because he had to gain weight rather than cut down on weight. Once his body adjusts to the new weight, he'll be okay

When Chael talks, I always listen. Intelligent commentary, and I totally agree re GSP. For me, GSP and Fedor (in his prime) are the GOATs in MMA. Jones was in that category for me until I saw how he performed against Gustafson who had similar height and reach. Still think Jones is amazing (his grappling victory over Hendo was epic).
Fedor was in danger in many of his fights after getting tagged. The Orlovsky and Randleman fights come to mind. Also, it’s hard to compare Fedor because the clinch wasn’t really a thing in Pride-and that’s a part of his game we never saw until his few UFC appearances.
GSP was generally more in control of his fights IMHO. Both my favorites, but GSP....

Kou Yang The only top level guys Anderson faced was Vitor, Henderson, Bisping, Weidman, DC and Diaz who was tiny. Anderson also never had to deal with great wrestlers very often, the few top level wrestlers he faught gave him fits. So almost every opponent played into Andersons game by staying on the feet which is Andersons bread & butter.
While George was able to dominate high level fighters of every discipline, he beat strikers, wrestlers & BJJ guys.

Were Connor to relinquish his title he could fight GSP now at 170 in a catchweight fight since Whitaker won't be back due to his injuries, I think. McGregor still has a lot of weight to lose from his Mayweather bout. That said, I'm not sure how I would feel about Connor not having defended the belt at all so I wouldn't want him to vacate it anyway.
Whittaker is an ex welterweight, also fought Yoel Romero who's an olmpian where in my opinion Yoel had sloppy take downs in their fight. GSP isn't an Olympian but I believe he would have better success. What you guys think?

I smoked a strain called GSP it fucking choked me out and beat the shit out of me.
GSP did well, but he's susceptible to getting hit by a big punch by a great striker! However, if the big punch isn't landed then GSP has a great chance to win. I think GSP is definitely one of the best ever, and he's been a great guy and very professional, but he may or may not be THE top guy...but I'm a fan so I can see giving that title to him to.

Khabib walks around 190. Gsp during his prime was 183 and fought at welterweight. Recently he said he was 172. Khabib was bigger than gsp when not in his training camp and still fought in lightweight

The reason Michael was hesitant striking on the feet was because of gsp wrestling. The threat of the take down discouraged him from letting his hands go. If Michael would of got too aggressive striking gsp would of ducked underneath his strikes and took him down. That's not were he wanted to be on his back. Then he has to waste energy trying to get back up.

GSP taking a leave of absence because of the PEDs problem, his desire to return and do something special, the breakdown in negotiations between him and the UFC and Bisping being champ when everything finally got on track.
