Great show Brian. Now I have a go-to video to recommend to people who are just starting out. Thanks so much for making it about more than BP's and corn snakes!!!Corbin
My very first snake is a western hognose, his name is Hanzo. Hes such a piggy! One time during a feeding, he kept missing the mouse, and was striking so haphazardly he fell out of his tub onto the floor! Silly boy!
I don't think some people realize that people who own albino snakes are doing them favors. (people who know how to care for them) because they can't camouflage in nature because of their bright colors, they would be dead within days/weeks if they were in nature.
『Za Planet』Well intentionally breeding albino traits isn't exactly natural, but albinism in and of itself is simply a spontaneous mutation. Spontaneous mutations are not inherently unnatural; if anything they are a vital part of nature; without them life as we know it could not exist. The difference is which mutations favor survival in a given environment and which ones do not.
I love how Brian says if you think you can do it just do it. Most people say you cant do this you cant do that..... my First snake was a ball python called sniper. He sadly passed away a few months ago after 10 short years. Love your show Brian keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom
One of my mom's friends breeds ball pythons. Her favorite one, Houdini, is affectionately dubbed "Scarf". He'll chill on your shoulders for hours on end with only minimal constriction for his own security. He's so sweet
My god these snakes are so beautiful. I'm a beginner I'm getting over my fear of snakes. I love the Gartner snakes I don't like the idea of feeding them rodents. They seem calm and perfect size for a beginner. Although I love those bigger snakes so pretty. 💗
Garter snakes aren't really good for beginners, they also musk a lot (spray you with a bad smelling liquid). I recommend a corn snake or ball python. If it helps at all the rodents you feed them aren't live
Destiny Godwin definitely the best way to get over your fear. I got a baby snake that fit in a small deli container when I first got it. I now have almost no fear of snakes. I've only gained a ton of respect and a slight obsession with them. They're really amazing animals
my first snake was a around 6 foot Burmese Python and i named her Lucile lol she was alot bigger when i had to part with her probably around 10 feet fully extended. Had her for 3 years she was so amazing. Had to move out of state and wasnt going to have the space or time to properly maintain her needs so i found a breeder in AZ where i was that was so happy to take her in and i still get updates to this day lol miss her so much but shes well taken care of and happy. Things have changed now years later and im seriously considering a Ball Python. Always been in love with snakes. People just dont know how much love and personality they have once tamed its incredible!!
+AnimalbytesTV I have to say this was outstanding. you've helped me make a decision on what I should have and should never attempt to own. you were very knowledgeable with everything. so thank you.. I've decided on the apparently popular hyper tangerine haundrian milk snake. the color is captivating very beautiful animal. I almost got some sort of Gartner snake because feeding them is so much fun and their diet ranges so widely. so my last to were the ball python or the milk but I've chosen the milk because of you once again thank you!
I'm 14 and because of this channel my fear of snakes has turned around and now I'm in Croatia catching them and researching while my friends in school are so scared of them! thank you SnakeBytes ;) you changed my life for better!
The rainbow boa is beautiful. Great advice though I do think should start with typical beginner snakes as you reference. Fairly low maintenance, easy feeders and easy to handle are what makes them starter snakes. It's all about getting the reps in. By the time you move on up, experience with basic care develops your patience and expectations, and the main objective is the care and health of the animal. These videos are really awesome and informative, and I enjoy the channel very much. I'd love to get a tour of place like this to get a good look at all those amazing snakes. I'm gonna need to search for the nearest one, I know there aren't any in my area like that.
I started "DNA slither and critters" reptile rescue cause I watched so much of ur show. I take in any reptile. We take in new ones every week.We have adopted 13 reptiles to good homes. And have 32 snakes including boas, reticulated pythons, pythons, and more. Also 9 lizards Leapard Gekos, crested, and bearded dragons. Also have 35 eggs coming in from two rescue moms. 3 turtles, red ear sliders and one snappers. And also a Rosie spider. It's been a fun ride so far. From me and all the reptiles want to thank you for helping me find my passion
In my opinion if you’re not going to feed the snake what it’s meant to eat than just don’t get a snake at all. Most snakes eat rodents and other mammals.
I get what you mean, but if the snake is still healthy and can survive, is it really any different then a person eating vegetables over meat? Yes it isn’t the snakes preferred choice but neither is captivity
Garter snakes don't naturally eat rodents. They eat earthworms frogs fish and salamanders and toads(which they resist the poison of) in the wild. Captive bred ones will usually take rodents but i kept many wild ones very healthy on 90% nightcrawlers with the occasional amphibian treat. Sometimes would put minnows in their water and they go into it and catch them underwater.
Finally took the plunge and adopted my very own Bumblebee Ball Python. I fed her a fuzzy for the first time yesterday, and felt like a proud momma watching my baby take down her first fuzzy
I'm not a huge snake person, but I love learning about them. You explain the snakes really well, definitely gave me a whole new appreciation for snakes! keep it up!!
I always loved catching garter snakes to. I didn't know you kept them for the longest time. They will always have a special place in my heart because they were the ones I catch.. we have a ton where I live
I'm so happy that you're showing off your Brazilian rainbows more often ! They are my favorite snake, and I love my little fellow to the moon and back. I've never met a snake with such an amazing attitude. He always gently takes his rats from me, and isn't even head shy! I'm hoping to get more in the future, with different colouring or morphs, although my little normal is gorgeous the way he is =) Although people warn against having them as first pet snakes, I've always been careful about his husbandry and thus been rewarded with an amazing pet.

Good to see the BHB crew on sbTV again! Have you ever thought about growing the garter project at all? I only know of 1 breeder in the states doing any variety with them.
He does these kinds of videos once every two months or so and each time I love them because even if there just a "beginners" snake they are still super cool
Okay i just wanted to say i LOVE this show, i dont care if you dont respond, but atleast i hope that you see this comment. This show makes my day whenever there is a new one, and i hope you will never stop. This show has changed my life for the better and i thank you! Dont stop, please
Ailex Mercer OK here's the thing, if your mom just doesn't like them then trying to turn her into a snake lover is a bit much to ask of her. Try giving her all the benefits of owning a snake and explain how if you were to own one you would take sole responsibility for care of said snake. Also mention that if you get a snake you would be paying for everything and it would be kept in your room. Usually after buttering them up with facts about the Snake you want and how you plan to deal with all of the things having a pet would entail, if you say that she wouldn't even see the snake that often because it would be in you room, then she'll most likely give in. Parents like it when you take on responsibility. Trust me
Well, I'm Christian. And snakes are the sign of the devil. Eve was met with a snake, possessed with the devil, and told to eat the forbidden fruit. THey then were aware of sin. So, my mom doesn't want me to have a snake. I think that not all snakes are the sign of the devil.
I love how excited you get when talking about snakes. As you get farther in the episode you always get more excited.its awsome. P.s love the show. (I always do)
I love this channel watching any if these videos makes me so happy i have been watching these guys since i was in 1st grade and now im in 6th i had a ball pythonh but when i had him i was much less responsible and he passed away RIP monty im getting a boa constrictor soon and ill say this im a hell of a different person now
The chance of them escaping is too high honestly. I would never. The hot room would definitely never be hot enough. You would have to make the whole room like 90 degrees. You could lose them behind furniture. you could step on them. It is a minefield. Just buy an enclosure dude
Just got first ball after two days first feeding went awesome. Thanks for your vidz learned everthing before hand so we can enjoy him for years to come.
ThatOtherNate can't you get a job? i was 13 when i got my first job, i earned £4 an hour, working at a local reptile shop. Bought my first snake for only £15. ($25) they're really not that expensive...
It depends on the snake. A snake isn't a hobby it's a huge investment. You need a steady job to pay for its food and many other things. Certain snakes cost a bunch. I want a hognose or a ball python. :D So I'm saving up big time.
Any kind of corn snake, whether it's albino or regular, will cost $50. The smallest aquarium size a corn snake may live in is 20 gallons. Top Fin® Glass Aquarium costs $26. For the lid, it says you need a lockable wire top, which is about $30 for one. For bedding, get Zoo Med Aspen Snake Bedding for $6 times about 20 for a year would be $120. For the bowl you can get either a small or large Exo Terra Water Dish for up to $15 depending on the size you get. For a hiding place, get Mac's Creatures & Critters Pet Refuge which, depending on what size you get, it ranges prices from $5-$14. For food, depending on what type mice you get, you buy Frozen Mice & Rats. For a corn snake, pinkie mice two 100 packs for a year. they'll be a total of $60. For heating, you will need to buy an under tank heat mat. The T-Rex Cobra Heat Pads costs $38. Altogether for a year of food and bedding, plus all the equipment, you get $353. So yes, this is a big investment. I mean as a display animal no it's not an investment, it's a decoration. But as a pet yes it's a huge investment. And for an 11 yr old that's ALOT. Well for anyone that's a lot. It's hard ( I would imagine) as an 11 yr old to find a job that pays that much. But for young snake lovers the biggest problem is the parents, not the money. I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I'm just trying to help.
Great list! I've got a hognose as a starter snake myself and they are very great, especially since they are very hardy and don't really bite. Glad to see you've got some love for the Garter's too! There's not enough love for them. I certainly want to try to get myself a Red-Sided Garter one day. One snake I wish you went over were the Children's Pythons or Spotted Pythons. Ball Pythons often have an issue with being picky or going on food strikes, which can especially be a problem for beginners that don't know to check with the seller with how they fed the snake previously. They are very docile and sweet and low maintenance pretty much equivalent to that of a corn snake if just with slightly higher temperatures. Plus, they are fairly small and manageable! The only really difficult thing about them is trying to find someone that sells them
Brian, I wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how much your show snakebites means to my kids (I skip the not so kid friendly stuff). A little over a year ago my oldest son, Reuben, (now 8) asked if he could have a pet snake. Having been raised to think all snakes were dangerous I quickly told him no. But then I decided to do a little research because he really really wanted one. I came across snakebites on youtube and through watching your show I came to realize that snakes are great pets and many of them are super sweet and docile and nothing to be afraid of at all. So my happy little boy now has a sweet little corn snake named Kai, I have a hog island boa named Isaiah & my husbands red tail boa, Ziva, arrived this week. My 4 yr old is picking out a gecko at a local reptile show next month and he is sooo excited! We are a reptile loving family thanks to you. Keep up the awesomeness!!!
Guys ive got a snake and you need to handle it alot dont just get a snake because there cool theres alot of work you got to do with it give me a like if you agree
Not really. Snakes don't really need to be handled, most species prefer if you don't. When you handle a snake too much, it can get stressed out and stop eating or delay a shed or bite you or even die. Snakes are definetly on the lower maitenance end, they don't need that much work to care for them unless you live somewhere really cold and not humid. I live somewhere thats very hot and extremely humid so it's not a problem.
I just recently discovered sand boas and I absolutely love them. I love their faces and they're the perfect size and such beautiful patterns and colors.
I had to red-sided feed garter snakes for this lab before. We would feed them worms or sardines (I think), but it was kind of funny when the worms would dangle and they would jerk their heads around trying to grab it lol. We got to see their babies, too- very cute.
Brian--I've seen your videos before today, you impress me with your knowledge of genetics. Recessive, dominant etc..I'm watching this because I want to have a snake for the first time and I want the best one to have with kids.
Great show, Brian. Good to know that you don't have to get only a couple breeds when you start out. Thanks so much! By the way the sleeve looks amazing :)
Thank you guys for another great video! My first snake was a ball python and within a couple months I got 2 boa constrictors. Both snake types are great for beginners. Just have to watch out when a boa gets hungry they can get a little too excited lol.
Just to touch on the whole beginner boa subject hog island boas are another great beginner snake that don't get to the size of the Columbians but still get impressive. Super tame and relatively easy to take care of. Great list Brian!
I feel like you need your own show on the Discovery channel of National geographic. Your love for all things animal and reptiles is only rivaled by the legendary Steve Irwin. I feel like everyone I know would watch it! Have you contacted any channels? I feel like you would be a smash hit!
i got my first snake when i was 18. A king cobra. Now i have a monocled cobra, a black mamba, 2 ball pyhtons, 1 corn snake and an African rock python. you gotta love this creatures.
AnimalBytesTV Hey Mr Carczyk, I got a pastel het pied female ball python from you all a couple months ago and she has been slaying mice like crazy.. When I got her she was 363 grams and now she is already 600 grams... You have some really healthy animals over there!
Great video, thinking about getting a snake so doing some research on them. I liked a couple snakes you mentioned. I'll have to wait untill I move out, but I'm willing to wait for my new best friend :)
Hey Brian you forgot about bull snakes...I sudgest you get one if you don't already have one because they are the coolest little guys, and in some cases can grow to be 8 feet. Also very easy to train, and they actually are not aggressive at all. Found mine in the wild and he is my first and only snake. If you end up getting one you should do a video on it as there are not many.
King/milk snakes are missing though they're similar with corn/rat snakes. The only problem on ball python is feeding and I found out some eat solely on live. Boa constrictor is also my favorite even it needs more space and food cost is higher. Somehow monitor is gaining my favor.
This video defiantly helped me decide what snake I should get as I was a bit disheartened after my younger brother turned out to be allergic to hognose bites definitely going to get a garter snake or a house snake
Awww, that house snake, would definitely boop the snoot.
KiteoHatto just got one yesterday- coming in tomorrow morning. I can’t wait to hoop the snoot omg
This guy kicks ass. Spends his days chillin with animals and what not.
I'm 15 now and i have 9 snakes :D 1 purple albino retic. 3 ball pythons 2boas and 3 cornsnakes.
snakeguy 1999 Awesome! Brian(Sbtv)
Nice ! I have 2 bearded dragons, 2 crested geckos and a turtle. Might have a python on the way
snakeguy 1999 You are lucky ! In France we can't own a retic without a special licence ;)
snakeguy 1999 Sweet! 2 Ball Pythons, 2 Corn Snakes, 1 Bredl's Python, 1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a Black Milk Snake and 3 Bearded Dragons over here.
snakeguy 1999 thats so awesome! lol
Great show Brian. Now I have a go-to video to recommend to people who are just starting out. Thanks so much for making it about more than BP's and corn snakes!!!Corbin

it's funny how the snakes are like "hey what's up" when he takes them out
My very first snake is a western hognose, his name is Hanzo. Hes such a piggy! One time during a feeding, he kept missing the mouse, and was striking so haphazardly he fell out of his tub onto the floor! Silly boy!
8:24 "Hes a really great pet" gets shit on lol XD (garter snakes were my first too)
diddo!
i must have missed it?
Was looking for this lol
I don't think some people realize that people who own albino snakes are doing them favors. (people who know how to care for them) because they can't camouflage in nature because of their bright colors, they would be dead within days/weeks if they were in nature.
Anonymous Gravity Not to mention that with any species of animal, the albinos have bad vision.
Animatotron not true it's a mutation AND can be genetic so it would be more rare but wouldn't just stop being in existence.
Albino's aren't really as natural as you're making them out to be.
『Za Planet』Well intentionally breeding albino traits isn't exactly natural, but albinism in and of itself is simply a spontaneous mutation. Agreed though albinos don't happen very often in nature mostly through breeding programmes.
“You can watch tv and sit them on your lap”

Yh...I'm not the only one then XD
random vids Yes, I see it pooped.
Yh...my one does that...(when I pick it up at least!)
It looked like it couldve been the bedding falling from picking him up.
Maybe,it's debatable
Since when did Shawn michaels know so much about snakes??
BRYC3_ CRAWFORD when his heart broken....
lol haha
Fun fact: because Shawn Michaels is born the year of the snake 1965 😎🐍
I was thinking of getting a snake and I'm pretty sold on a house snake, garter snake, and a corn snake. definitely will buy from you guys!!
So what did you buy
I love how Brian says if you think you can do it just do it. Most people say you cant do this you cant do that..... my First snake was a ball python called sniper. Brian you grew up in Michigan too. going into the woods to look for snakes is literally my whole summer every year.
It's kinda cute how the boa on 13:20 ish is like "Give mi looooooove"
I really appreciate your two-front honesty on each snake, it means a lot that this isnt just one big ad, its actually informative. Good work my man
What if I actually live in the humid hell where the rainbow boa lives?

I was always afraid of snakes. I hated them but when i see u handle them truly you are so inspiring. thank you brian!

Also, rosy boas make great pets! Slow moving, docile, small, and easy to keep.
What about the rubber boa?
Renee' Truitt and the Spotted python! Those guys are so sweet and hardy, and have little care requirements
Anyone else getting serious Steve Erwin vibes from this guy? Already in love with this channel
Hey Brian can you do an update on the scaless ball pythons?
Loved this one, Brian. A little bit of old school Snakebytes with you getting the crew involved.
There are snakes that don't lay eggs?!?!?!?! Mind blown man
Good to see the BHB crew on sbTV again! Have you ever thought about growing the garter project at all? I only know of 1 breeder in the states doing any variety with them.
I feel like his favorite word is "and"
He does these kinds of videos once every two months or so and each time I love them because even if there just a "beginners" snake they are still super cool
Ball pythons are too hyped up. Me, I really want a hoggie.
Too damn expensive though. Ball pythons at reptile shows are less than $15 sometimes. Hogs are upwards of $600 from what I've seen.
Tyranitar2004 I got mine for 30$. You must've been looking at one of the expensive color variations.
I haven't seen one that's under $500
Tyranitar2004 Lol, bhb sells em for 60$

I really want s pet snake but my mom won't let me have one help.
Show her some videos so she sees that they're not evil. Do lots of research so you can impress her with your knowledge. She'll come around. :)
Arwen Lua It's not that she won't let me have a snake because she thinks they're evil but she just flat out does not like snakes.

Jei Anne i agree, i got my leopard gecko from underground reptiles and he is super healthy and active
I love this channel watching any if these videos makes me so happy i have been watching these guys since i was in 1st grade and now im in 6th i had a ball pythonh but when i had him i was much less responsible and he passed away RIP monty im getting a boa constrictor soon and ill say this im a hell of a different person now
Can i like just let a snake roam my house.
no bad idea
Purp Flop Even if it has a warm and a cold room so it can switch em up?
The chance of them escaping is too high honestly. I would never. The hot room would definitely never be hot enough. You would have to make the whole room like 90 degrees. You could lose them behind furniture. you could step on them. It is a minefield. Just buy an enclosure dude

Ok.
Just got first ball after two days first feeding went awesome. Thanks for your vidz learned everthing before hand so we can enjoy him for years to come.
I'm a young 11 year old reptile lover!!! :) I've always wanted a pet snake since 3 years!! Hopefully I'll get one at age 15 :D
Yuki Aburame why is a ball python a big investment? depending on morph £40 for the snake and £40 setup. piss.
And piss?
What a great video/presenter. You can really see the passion and effort
Can you do a video on the California King Snake?
I got a corn snake today and I love my snake.Thank you for getting me to love snakes
Get a trouser snake it dont bite. just spits..
LOL your comment made me laugh more than it should have.
That's a complement btw.
The only really difficult thing about them is trying to find someone that sells them
jesus christ brian have you been going to the gym?
Jacob Proctor He's been carrying around that reticulated python xD
Jacob Proctor Brian is so sexy
You should see him now 😂😂
Love that your from Michigan! Likewise, used to catch garter snakes all the time!
I know this comment is probably going to be ignored, but am I the only one who thinks this guy talks like Donald trump?
Yes
i don't think he does.
agreed
he does sound even remotely close
I live somewhere thats very hot and extremely humid so it's not a problem.
brains tends to mention previous episodes, I recommend attaching a link for future endeavors.
Hey bud, it's great to have you back.
Great video!
Brian / FGS
Very informative, and as always, well spoken and energetic. Always great, Brian!
Great show, Brian. Good to know that you don't have to get only a couple breeds when you start out. Thanks so much!
By the way the sleeve looks amazing :)
Natatatalatalie Wolff Thanks so much! Brian(Sbtv)
Amazing intro! Love all the snakes and great showcase! Love all your videos Brian! Keep it up!!
Kaleb Moore Thanks so much Kaleb! Brian(Sbtv)
No problem Brian love your videos and your Chanel (ABtv)!! You'll always have my support, likes, views, and subscriptions!
I got my first ball python yesterday!!! d ont worry I did lots of research😂
I feel like you need your own show on the Discovery channel of National geographic. Your love for all things animal and reptiles is only rivaled by the legendary Steve Irwin. I feel like everyone I know would watch it! Have you contacted any channels? I feel like you would be a smash hit!
Brian great show, I always love to watch your videos and see your pictures in Instagram and Facebook. Keep it up with the show.
Subscribed. Found one of my new favorite channels
since I started to watch snake Bites fell in love with snakes
that albino boa @ 12:33 is absolutely gorgeous.. i want one now as my first snake.
Hi Brian! Awesome show as always! My first snake was a Florida King snake named Sticky
Jenn Winkfein Thanks and great name! Brian(Sbtv)
i got my first snake when i was 18. A king cobra. Now i have a monocled cobra, a black mamba, 2 ball pyhtons, 1 corn snake and an African rock python. you gotta love this creatures.
My first and only snake is my corn snake Red I got at Christmas. He turned one year old in August and is moving onto medium mice already!
I am thinking of getting my very first snake and this video was very helpful!
Awesome video! Thanks for creating I may add some garter snakes next!
Yea he definitely loves snakes. He’s so loving for keeping them in those small boxes all day there so lucky.
I love that a hype house snake looks just like a tiny albino burmese. Super cool.
How does this channel only have 603k subs? Wth world do we live in? These guys deserve at least 2 mil subs right now
My favorite is the albino garter snake. Beautiful animals.
This video defiantly helped me decide what snake I should get as I was a bit disheartened after my younger brother turned out to be allergic to hognose bites definitely going to get a garter snake or a house snake
I was honking of getting a hog nose and this really confirmed this thanks
