Absolutely right. Not all gated communities are the same.
Although I have never lived in a gated community, I imagine they have their advantages. They are “exclusive” in the sense that they exclude the public. that is not to say they are impervious to outsiders. Certainly service providers gain entry. I do plan to move to a gated community one day in the future. I believe in Costa Rica it would be called a “cementerio.” You do know why they put fences around cemeteries, don’t you? It is because so many people are dying to get in. ¡Buen Día!
I admit, 2 years ago i had thought the same - that i didnt want to ge in a gated community. Now, I'm mostly ambivalent because I've seen the one you're in, and several others of different layout. It's definitely a case-by-case evaluation, just one more reason that people really need to take a real scouting trip.
Gated communities are the way to go. Keeps all the drive-by traffic out and allows people to keep an eye on each other.
i mean, sure...why don't you start the paperwork on costa rica becoming the next Puerto Rico...We like tourists, responsible ones, NOT EXPATS WHO BUY UP ALL OUR LAND AND GENTRIFY
Congratulations on your engagement! 🎊
You gotta need it if you don't reside full time there
I have looked at a few gated communities in the Dominican Republic and outside of these communities most houses and apartments have security bars on the windows and over the balconies. I for one would have a difficult time living in a place that looks like a prison. The community that I am interested in is very large (Ocean Village Sosua) which has a large indoor gym, outdoor gym, water park, basketball courts, tennis courts, three restaurants, numerous pools and more. I guess that it boils down to what you want in life and what you are willing to pay. I am also considering Jaco as a place to move so I may connect with you. Your videos are very helpful!
I agree with you too. Also collective locations with tons of people..... not my style
Thank you for that Sarah Elena, I see the gated communities in a different light 😊
Thank you for the video. Saludos from Texas.
Rich gringos gotta live some place...
I want to assimilate with the Costa Rican people and their culture, so if I were going to live in a gated community I sure as hell wouldn't want to live with mostly Americans.
I've done that already, and it's another thing I'm trying to get away from by leaving the US!
let's be real, it's not happening, you guys assimilate as well as the turks in Germany, meaning you DON'T. You are supposed to be guests here, stay for a bit, enjoy your vacation, then leave, yet you chose to stay.
A gate is better than a cage.😜 Not sure what the statistics are in CR, but my community in Florida has .a 01 crime rate.
I agree about not being in a totally self enclosed location with tons of people, but ut looks like you need a car in those places.
My gated community is toxic. They hate renters and 85% None Costa Rican. I won’t say they community, but it’s in Jaco
That's definitely more my style. I'm fine with a security checkpoint but I don't need a freaking golf course.
It’s always between rich and poor.. not between black, Asian or white.. or foreigner and local.. always rich and poor. So, in a way all gated communities are the same.. and the houses always look like RostiPollo.
You can not be more wrong! Do some research!
So no locals are permitted to comment on these videos smdh....
Why would locals not be permitted to comment? Just to be clear I never remove comments. So if a comment you made isn’t showing up right away it may be being held for review and it’s not something I’ve done.
Someone else accused me of removing a comment in the past and then their comment showed up a day later 😑 so please consider other possibilities prior to making any kind of accusations please 🙏
crappy
I’d live in one if hardly any North Americans lived in it. If not, no way!
Aren’t you North American? I think that with your mindset, you wouldn’t be welcome in any community!
