That's a cool wallet 👌👌
Peter is a shill and throwing out complete bs about replacing the characters in the game. Because the X-Men were missing, I never even checked out the game. I also loathe the "realistic" look over the awesome stylized art of previous entries.
@@savage0690:05 agreed
Wolverine being absent was absolutely criminal. He was the only character in every marvel vs. game from children of the atom to umvc3
i would agree but add that leaving out magneto and cyclops are nearly on the same level of criminality. the only difference is how popular wolverine got over the years. cyclops is the fkn leader of the x-men and on the iconic opener of x-men vs. street fighter! not to mention, he's the shoto representative of the marvel side! trash!
I miss Rogue.
Sabertooth, omega red, juggernaut, wolverine, magneto....they pretty much took out all my favorite characters.
All X-Men were popular in this crossover series. Disney being a sore loser and denying players these characters out of "oh, they are with Fox, so we can't promote them in any way". Typical of crybabies who are not getting things the way they wanted.
Yeah, Wolverine is also one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world, definitely in the top 5 or 10 at least.
marvel vs capcom without wolverine and storm = epic fail!
In my humble opinion, without any of the X-Men is an epic fail!
Without cyclops and Psylocke
@@esmooth919should’ve been called “Disneys Marvel vs Capcom”
Rogue
I actually miss Disney's original IPs, Split Second and PURE. They actually had the talent and threw them away.
Split Second was so effing good.
I LOVED Split Second. I was initially going to get Blur (The Mario Kart with real cars) but Gamestop ran out of copies of that game so I got Split Second as an alternative. That game was hella fun to play that even when I eventually got Blur 2 months later, I still wound up playing Split Second more. 2011 really feels like an eternity ago.
Disney ruined the marvel company and marvel vs Capcom series.
Explain how they ruined Marvel, being it's a multi-billion-dollar outfit now that through all the movies and tie-ins brought in incredible crowds and money. Marvel was literally going bankrupt don't forget at one point, and while they turned things around, Disney also injected a ton of money and creative talent. But I'm going to guess you think Disney is "woke" and hasn't been creative since 1921.
@@LordLOC bringing in pleb crowds who dont know any better just to make money doesnt make them great. Most of the movies are trash, doesnt matter how much money they make. Obviously you dont know much about this series and you're just defending disney cuz you dont know any better, but if you look at this game compared to the last game (ultimate marvel vs capcom 3) that had nothing to do with disney and you'll see there is a CLEAR distinction between sound and character design.
@@LordLOC Marvel is nearly dead at this point. That's why Deadpool & Wolverine is the only Marvel movie releasing in 2024. There's no questioning the fact that they've ruined the franchise over the last few years.
Another case of Disney ruining a franchise.
@@csquire667 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh even harder. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
@@MistertbonesWhat franchise have they ruined?! Because Marvel was filing for bankruptcy and never made nearly a fraction of the money prior to Disney. Sony is out here ruining Spider-Man left and right with Venom, Madame Web, Kraven, but Disney is the issue?!?!?!?!😂 Marvel vs Capcom Infinite didn't need to happen. The game was a production mess and that's on Capcom. Stop perpetuating this lie that Disney "ruined" anything that literally makes a billion dollars 9 times out of 10 and didn't have the world in a chokehold for 10+ years and still.
@@tkm1875 The most recent Marvel movies are all money losers.
Imagine my *honk*
Disney can only really be blamed for not allowing certain Characters in Infinite. Everything else is Capcoms fault. You gunna blame Disney for Capcoms typical BS?
X-Men popularity has always been strong even before the mcu was even a thought. Dude was being a complete sell out.
Pretty much
what a fkn tool he was for even suggesting that bullshit. bro is a fkn disgrace. you think fans of the franchise want to even look at this shit if you can't use magneto/cyclops/wolverine? foh.
Having the X-Men there is one of the selling points of MvC to began with.
The entire quote distancing from X-Men and promoting Captain Marvel of all thing tells you everything you need to know about the set mentality when making the game. And the fans weren't the target.
The lack of Xmen characters turned me off from ever playing this.
Same
I find it dismissive when they said that characters are just functions. In games like this, especially with a popular franchise like Marvel involved, people are more likely to pick their favourite characters from the comics regardless of how they play. They could make Spider-Man move like a cement block and hit like a mouse but people would still play him because he's Spider-Man (although yeah if he moved and hit like that they'd complain but that's a topic for another time). Nova and to a lesser extent Captain Marvel aren't as well known as Magneto (at least not back then), they wouldn't have liked being told to play someone else.
Another embarrassing thing from MVCI is how they scammed people with their expensive Collector's Edition. There was this bulky box toy supposedly containing all the infinity stones which could glow with batteries (aside with figurines & other stuffs). From the promotional pictures, the stones looked pretty, but the final product ended up looking soooo much different, with the stones having the shape of big Easter eggs made of cheap plastic, similar to a Kinder Surprise toy container.
Using a video game to promote a movie is as dumb as using a movie to sell comic books. The video game industry makes many times more then the movie industry. And the MvC franchise is one of most popular.
Capcom: Who are we going to put in this time.
Capcom legal team: Don't forget to the licensing rights for those characters. 🙂
Capcom: Ok, Marvel, these are the characters we are going to use this time. We made sure to put Wolverine; Deadpool; Gambit; Rogue; Magneto; Storm in. But we also want to add some new characters like the Human Torch for one too.
Disney: No we would like to focus on characters that have been the movies.
Also Capcom: "We like to hold back a bunch characters for DLC and make the game bare bones and charge full price like we did to RUIN SFIV, SFXT, MVC 3, and SFV."
To be honest, i forgot that this game existed, when i hear about MVC I only remember MVC3.
Rite we all forgot because of this game and u just need to remember MVC3
I was both happy and sad with the game because, as a Spider-Man and Venom combo player, I got what I wanted… but at what cost? I didn’t get to fight any character that was fun or challenging. Variety is the spice of life.
Yet, hilariously in the 80’s/90’s when every company was cash grabbing and pumping out trash, CAPCOM did beautiful things with Disney IP’s.
Captain Marvel was such a huge failure.
Rite u tried she more of nova in MVC3 fate of two worlds...
Captain Marvel was once more popular than Superman. "Captain Marvel vs The Monster Society of Evil" changed the entire comics medium as the first long-form year-long story ever. Don't underestimate Captain Marvel.
(Of course, I'm referring to the _real_ Captain Marvel.)
No it's not it did fine at the box office
@@animezilla4486 I am not talking about the movie, the character.
@@FireBomberBassist oh my mistake
You can tell what came out of the Capcom producers mouth was straight up Disney talking points. It’s so funny cause of blatantly wrong it is. While Disney since acquiring Marvel has done what they can to devalue the X-Men brand because Fox at that time owned the X-Men movie rights they have taken Fox marvel characters out of the game. It’s not because people don’t love or remember Wolverine, quite the contrary, but that Disney at the time wanted people to forget them.
Well yeah, why do you think they wanted to promote the inhumans so much at the time
Combofiend's statements about the game, was definitely forced by higher ups who did not want to face the music and sent him out there. He gained popularity in the fighting game community as a MvC 2 player - so he knew better, but gotta stick with the employer to not mess up his professional legacy. Some people have to do that to maintain their lives. We can hate the logics of the employer but not have another job lined up at the time. So going after him due to his statements being connected to him and not his boss, is kinda cold.
Kudos for covering Peter Combofiend Rosas' infamous quote but Chun Li's face during the inital reveal and Dragon Ball Fighter Z reveal as a 3 v 3 fighter also did a lot of damage to Infinite at the time.
Disney should have compromised insisting they get everything they want. They can include movie characters as the newcomers, but let Capcom include the X-men.
Wolverine was the only Marvel character to be playable in every Capcom Marvel fighting game leading up to Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, yet was somehow excluded from it.
I’m really shocked Disney is still around. All they do is kill IP since the last 10 years.
it's because they're only getting bigger than ever that they can do whatever the fuck they want. i'm sure their decision to focus on bullshit marvel games for their movie ip characters resulted in gain.
Disagree with that entirely
@@animezilla4486 cool!
So, Disney wants to bring the same people who got them millions in phase one MCU to their Capcom vs Marvel. Not gonna happen, never gonna happen. These million dollar devs are totaly out of touch with the gamer commuinity.
Maybe not
@@animezilla4486 Capcom and Disney made bad marketing decisions. The proof is in the profit. It didn't brought the millons of dollars like the phase one MCU movies.
@@stevensanders2692 yeah a lot of mistakes were made with this game
Seeing Disney get all gung ho about promoting X-Men now makes me all the more infuriated that this installment in the MvC series had to suffer because of politics in another industry
Who the heck picks characters for utility? You pick Wolverine or Cyclops because they look freakin' awesome!
Not only that. The best characters in the games were X-Men, especially Sentinel
Why does disney make the worst decisions regarding marvel; they do the complete opposite of what is profitable....they should just own marvel and pay marvel to be marvel, period...
Getting rid of the x-men from this game was always a bad idea in my opinion.
They had no choice Disney did not have the rights at the time
@@animezilla4486 they didn’t have the movie rights and honestly they have always had a choice.
@@TevyaSmolkayeah, movie rights
and only rights for the movies, not video games
and it's even more pointless to justify their claims with how they've bought fox (who owned the rights to x-men movies) after the game's release
@@icetweiz indeed it’s pointless to justify the claims.
Such a shame with MVCI, I was really hyped when it came out. I tried the demo and it felt lackluster and barebones especially with the roster.
I was a huge MvC3 player. Was part of the FGC while that game was popping off. One of my favorite fighting games of all time. Great video, one thing I'll add was that this game KILLED the MvC3 community. Marvel 3 was still going strong with players and as soon as this game was announced everyone got hyped for it waiting for the release, as soon as it came out everyone dropped MvC3 and tried out Infinte for a period of time. People quickly saw it was not a good tournament style game. People gave it a chance too but ultimately did not have the appeal MvC3 did. And sadly after people dropped it they didn't really go back to MvC3. Most just moved on after that. There's been a small MvC3 resurgence recently but it will in no way ever be like it was.
MVCI ironically reignited my love for UMvC3 - which I still play to this day. I think the main difference besides the roster lacking interesting characters is UMVC3 just felt way, way more fun to play. Doesn't hurt that UMvC3 looked far better. I bought UMVC3 and MVCI on Steam at the same time and you would honestly think MVCI was a cheap spinoff or fanmade or something. Or maybe a mod of UMVC3 that removed the edge cel shading and interesting effects. Honestly, I just cannot think of a single thing that MVCI did better. Even the biggest advertised feature of MVCI - the story mode - felt inferior to Heroes and Heralds mode. But maybe only because it was so terrible.
Disney and Warner Bros got a knack on being greedy and stupid
I never played with Gambit because of what he could do, it was because he's Gambit!
Lady Decade is smokin’
As soon as it became clear there would be no X-Men, that was a no go for me.
I was waiting for the inevitable super turbo max edition but it never came 😂
Played this game for about 15 min and couldn’t stand it.
Even if they wanted to exclude all mutants from the game, the roster should have been HUGE based on the amount of characters from the MCU. HUGE letdown. Amazing video!
No X-Men was the last nail in the coffin. Sad what they're doing to this series. High priced arcade cabinets when they can seriously sell us the collection for consoles. They could release a Sega Dreamcast collection with all the MVC games and THAT would show more respect than what they're doing now.
Great video, Lady Decade!
You hit the nail on the head as to why this legendary franchise has stalled and isn't going anywhere.
Disney is just destroying everything we love
No
Anybody remembers the easter egg looking infinity stones buyers got when they bought the physical collectors edition?
Corporate/studio red tape and being used as nothing more than a promotional tool killed any chance this game had
Stop The Cap! The X-Men got a whole entire generation into Marvel to begin with. Claiming that no one will remember them and thinking people would prefer Captain Freakin Marvel is absolute crap. The fact that X-Men 97 is one of the highest viewed shows right now while The Marvels bombed at the box office is quite evident of that.
Might as well just have Capcom vs. Disney and just go completely off the wall with it at this point; we could have Nina, Gunrock, and the wizard from King of Dragons going up against Scarlet Witch, Darth Vader, and Scrooge McDuck, and have a gigantic fire-breathing parade float called THE MOUSE as the final boss. Actually, can we get the MUGEN community in on this one? I almost want this now.
Disney Infinity was developed by Avalanche Software, originally a Warner Brothers subsidiary and later acquired by Disney. They were a game development studio for a decade before being acquired by Disney, so no, it wasn't exactly developed "in house."
Before MvC3 came out I was a huge proponent of including Carol Danvers as Ms Marvel in the game. While I was happy to see Captain Marvel in MvCI, she was modeled after the bland art in the new comics, even her retro look was lacking. But then the entire graphics engine in MvCI was just cell phone quality. I think thats why it failed more than anything.
If given the chance, yes I would prefer Capcom's X-Men considering many of (using ComboFiend's words) the X-Men would fit Captain Marvel's function on top of a lot of people love them. Hell, Rogue in the comics and animated series had a chunk of her powers because she absorbed Carl's powers back in the day.
Definitely would have been better if Disney just ripped the bandage off and said "Yeah, we don't want to advertise rival movies". What kind of irks me is the comment of "Who remembers the X-Men?" seeing that Logan was released a couple months before Infinite's release.
As a childhood fan of Disney since the 80s it is both sad and infuriating to see them go down this downward spiral lately.... That being said, I am actually GLAD that they seem to be failing, as I'm sure in the long run the company can't sustain it (I hope). Somewhere something needs to change.
I remember when Capcom was one of my favorite companies during the arcade era. Between the fighters and beat em ups, they were cookin. What a fall from grace..
Sf 6 sold more than your favorite fighting game of Capcom.
"People won't know who the X-Men are".
Puts Bionic Commando, Strider Hiryu and Jedah in the game.
From what I remember, the gameplay was amazing!.... Everything else was trash. I believe they had 5 seasons planned but that got cancelled. The story mode was also terrible. It was just fight Ultron droids and randomly Red Arremer and Jedah show up. 🤷. The story was badly thought out. It's great that they tried to do a story, but it felt so bad, so what was the point?
I believe at that time, another small game was coming out called dragon ball fighterz came out and destroyed this game.
However, there's rumors of another vs Capcom game, since a few voice actors accidentally leaked for a fighting game during interviews. Supposably it's taking so long, because Capcom doesn't want to screw this up again, so we'll see.
I actually just ordered a 360 version of ultimate marvel vs capcom. I still have a physical of infinite, it’s not that bad.
This game was in development when Ike Perlmutter was in charge of Marvel. He was so salty on not having the film rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four that he decided to wipe them off from existence. Even their comics were being cancelled because of this. It also extends to video games as well. By the time he was no longer in full control, it was too late to change MVC: Infinite. You could have said they would have been included as DLC afterwords. You might be right but with Ike having the final word, they would never. Just be glad he ISN’T in full control of Marvel anymore, as newer Marvel games has BOTH X-Men and FF characters. So if anyone is to blame, it isn’t completely Disney’s fault, it was Perlmutter.
Despite all this, Disney is the 'First Galactic Empire' from the Star Wars. While Warner, Paramount and other non-Disney studios are 'The Resistance'.
Disney is a joke. Loving these recent vids. Keep doing what you're doing. You rock.
Not for long
I always felt like MVCI was ruined by Disney's pettiness over Fox retaining the license over the X-Men. In all honesty, in addition to a multitude of other factors (like the overall ugliness of the game due to hyperrealism), The missing X-Men caused this game to be DOA for me.
Did Disney have a part in ruining this? Yes. But Crapcom is just as guilty.
I would rather have X-Men over Captain marvel anytime
Disney didn't want Xmen characters in fear of having people watch the Xmen movies instead of Marvels due to the idea of including Marvel movie characters. Disney ruins another great. franchise.
clearly you don't understand how this works first of all 20th century Fox holds the rights to X-Men at the time
It's no surprise that all Marvel characters had some involvement in the MCU. No X-Men in sight. It wasn't a coincidence.
You would think Capcom would realize we want our old characters back. Plus, revamp some old franchises like Darkstalkers or Rival Schools.
Pretty glad I still have a hard copy of UMvC3, holding games in a virtual library feels so risky.
She didn't mention the collectors edition! DO IT AGAIN, LADY DECADE!!!
I would not blame this one solely on Disney, it was released on one if the greedy periods Capcom suffers from time to time and it shows.
Capcom's decisions continue to mess with what is possible to make a game better. If MvCI did thrive, it would have had a battle pass, an additional season passes for more of its roster. But nope, thanks to the mess they made/ created. It just snowballed
I avoided buying this game. Even when it went on sale. Knowing how bad it was, the early release was just ugh.. it was patched later. But eventually support runs out.
It feels heartbreaking, this might be the last MvC entry we might see for some time.
Infinite should have been a better game. Not what this mess turned out to be
Lady Decade is based AF.
I am confused, I thought the reason there was no X-Men character on the last MvsC was due to Fox having the rights for X-Men or something and not being directly related to Disney. However, if indeed the reason why all characters from X-Men were absent, was just because there was no Disney project at the moment, this is bad, really bad.
Word to the wise during that time Disney was scorch the earth with anything xmen related. Remember the inhumans? It was their attempt to replace xmen with a "similar" group they they owned the TV and movie rights to. Even going as far as burying the xmen in the comics to push them up. It was that bad.
Even The Adult Swim Museum Bumper From last week was a better crossover and That was 20 seconds one of many Crossover bumpers especially the Family Guy departure one so bloody sad TBH
Disney needs to be forcibly turned into a worker's co-op.
Is it crazy that my favorite part of this video was the in-video sponsor seg? We get to see more seconds of the amazing Lady Decade looking pretty as always and she made extra $$. Win-Win for everyone 🏆 ✌️ 😉
I have never forgiven Disneyfor ruining Capcom v Marvel. I didn't ask for Rocket. I want my Strider and Wolverine team.
30 characters, and no xmen is a definite a failure.
14:26 and this is why I didn't even bother get the game, it stopped feeling like Marvel vs. Capcom and more like MCU vs. Capcom, I would love them to do another with some X-Men characters like Gambit and Rogue. :)
They dumbed down the game as a whole. They removed tons of favorite characters too.
This whole series started off because of Xmen and the fact that Infinite had none is a disgrace to the series. They could even add them now.
The creator of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite didnt take in account, a fighting game is popular based on the skill level of the player - not if the game is accessible and can be easily played by children. Comment made by LadyDecade that this can be done by "a three year old" - is all i needed to hear on why the game never took off as popular or become tournament playable. Disney needs to realize that most of their fanbase these days are 18-50 demographic. Even with their shows. Catering to kids, they should have a small section for that. But we dont want to see our Marvel or Star Wars toned down in violence and/or storytelling. The fans who buy it are the 18-50 year olds who grew up on those franchises.
This was honestly a pretty good and fun game, but fans ultimately killed it before it could take off. It brought back. OG 2 on 2 gameplay and it generally had some good mechanics. Fans were waiting for a clone of UMVC3 with an updated roster.
No cyclops, psylocke, cable and Deadpool is a no go 🤦🏼♂️
Combofiend is still an absolute fool for that. And to add insult to injury, no one really even PICKED Captain Marvel for real. She was bland, boring, and had nothing really going for her. Lol.
Bet that guy who gave that excuse regrets saying that bc he obviously forgot that modern marvel people don't play fighting you have to appeal to the FGC who know more about the vs games than that guy does
I didn't play the game due to the lack of old favorite and the addition of Carol Danver
Weak man
Funny 😂 I put my money on the things I like… that makes you weak 😂 pleaple are too funny, you can like what you like no one is stopping you from buying it, the game still looks bad
It really sucked that Megaman X debuted in the MVC series with this entry. Now who knows how long we’ll see him again, speak less of the series itself.
I don’t even play these types of video games, I just enjoy these videos.
DEIsney kills another great idea!
No just no
They just went with the industry with the pay for content.. it was a new money machine and in the beginning it definitely was a stumble and great games suffered because..
Best “waoooo” in TH-cam, y el “ay no” es tan divertido.
Wonderful reaction!!
I never understood the crossovers, never! While most all humans love those. I was born in the 80´s. Since I was a child, everytime I came across these weird things, my automatic thought was of disappointment, not wanting to play those, because I always knew it would be for devs profit and weird stuff. For me, it is like eating my favourite food and mix it with gasoline. But it´s me. I know most all love this kind of bizarre mixture.
DISNEY RUINS and DESTROYS EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES ESPECIALLY THESE DAYS. EXAMPLES STAR WARS MARVEL
Disagree
I thought it was because they had a problem with Fox and the mutants at the time before buying them, hence the lack of X-men
"...& MAKE IT LAME!"- Disney since 2014
No
Back when it was called the Infinity Gems (in MSH), it gave a time limited powerboost that can give special abilities depending on the character.
Also, when I brought the game, I was so disgusted by how it felt compared to MVC3 in terms of game feel.
Glad Disney was humbled into bringing it back
Marvel vs sf , Marv vs capcom , X-men vs sf . Best three fighting games ever
I didn’t even own a console at the time and I still wanted to buy the game so that I could visit friends and play with them. A damn shame this was just so much of a failure.
One of my only gaming regrets. Bought it mainly for the Mega Man X characters but it just didn't feel fun as a fighter.
Oh my God. Disney, Disney, Disney... I can't even.
MVCI was a cash grab and that's all it will ever be. I like the Mouse but this was too much...
No Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm? FAIL.
To preface this, I’m not good at fighters. They take a lot of practice I can’t give them, but I still love them. My favorite fighter is MVC2 (followed closely by sf3 third strike). What I feel infinite did well was the story (I think story modes in games made for multiplayer like FPSes and fighters is underrated), and I liked the new characters, but everything you criticized about infinite is straight-on; Wolverine was my favorite MVC character and favorite X-man (followed by gambit, who never got enough love in the fighting games) and one of my favorite Marvel characters and they removed him? Dumb. I also thought that the game felt slower than MVC2, or even MVC3, but the removal of some of the “chaos” you mentioned I think explains that. I also think it’s time for games like fighters and FPSes, and sports titles to stop making sequels and use the WoW approach of adding content as dlc but there’s one base game. This way you don’t have to learn new combos or re-gain all your skins and things like that. Ya still possible to make money on a franchise like that and you won’t alienate fans. I love street fighter but I never bought a game after IV because they released that one with like 5 editions. Enough is enough. Make an MVC game with interchangeable combos, skins, draw style, levels, and characters. Build on it and make people want to spend money regularly but make sure you give the players enough to start for those who are fine with the base game.
1. I prefer the X-men over Carol Danvers. 2. While this may be nit picking, I agree Capcom also had a hand in its failure the final nail was Dragon FighterZ which not only had most of what MVCI was missing it's considered generally better at the few things MVCI did right. 3 speaking of revisiting games might I recommend Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars if you can as I feel it succeeds in many areas where MVCI fails and yes, I know it's only for the Wii.
Still hoping Fandom can make a MOD for MVC infinite like UMVC3. (but it's a bit ridiculous, a failed game suddenly becomes popular because community)
Every game before this looked so good and had so much style and artistic creativity
This game just looks so.....dead
