I think Phil always expected to be taken seriously (probably an understatement), but he never appreciated how much his antics muddied those waters. It's nice to see a format where we are able to cut through all the years of mayhem and just appreciate the way he plays.
Drug use, drinking, not sleeping, horrible eating habits, and just an overall unhealthy lifestyle can do that. I don't know that Tom does that stuff, but a lot of people say he does or claim he has in the past. That combination and the stress of a high stakes poker life style can age you. Funny thing is is that he's looked older and worst in the past. It looks like he's been taking better care of himself now as opposed to before.

You KNOW your opponent hit the straight but can't help paying him off because you just can't believe they hit the gut shot... so you cry and make the call and inevitably pay them off. Why would anyone ever raise? It's clearly a call or a fold. There is absolutely nothing to gain from raising. Everything worse than queens full has an easy fold. Fact is, if this format holds for the next 25 years, no one will ever go 8-1 over 9 NLHU live televised matches at these stakes, ever again. A few times the commentators were confused by Phil's bets because they were asking "what is he trying to represent with that bet?" Phil wasn't trying to represent anything. On those bets, Phil had narrowed down Tom's hand range and was either trying to get value or mess with Tom. Phil made Dwan look like an amateur this game, and Phil pretty much just stuck to game theory.
The Queen fold is easier than the tens to be honest. Correct call with tens I think. Tom wouldn’t barely ever bluff Phil there. I think dwan is better couldn’t have possibly ran much colder this match, brutal headsup run outs for him. But Phil does have that white magic I can’t lie
