I work with the public & what you said about us having to be friendly to be “safe” is so true. Some men just don’t know how to take no for a answer & it can put us in a really bad spot. I’ve been in a healthy relationship for 3 years & still to this day when i’m at my job and tell people i have a boyfriend they still insist on trying to bother me, even had a GROWN MAN wait for me outside my job. It’s a scary world we live in, now at work I don’t even take my jacket off due to the harassment problems.. 🤦🏻♀️
I totally hate it when these creeps come up to us and think that just because we are girls that we automatically are open to their advances just because they are men. A guy at my school wanted to kiss me and was very insistente. I rejected him on three separate occasions. He then asks if I don’t like men and if I’m a lesbian. So I answer to him no I’m not a lesbian. And he looks so offended and confused and starts getting angry. And I answer back again that yes I like guys, but I don’t like you. Just because you’re a guy doesn’t make you Gods gift to women and that every woman will accept your advances and want to be with you.
Omg i swear i thought i was the only one. I smile when I’m uncomfortable too, it’s my coping mechanism and i do the same when I’m approached and don’t want to be bothered. I hate that i go out of my way to make sure they’re comfortable when I’m obviously not.. I’m learning to be more assertive too but I’m afraid to be shot at or like harmed in any way.. these men can’t handle rejection sometimes

Take jujitsu, and not necessarily for the physical, self defense benefits, but more so it will build a very strong aura mentally, especially when a stranger approaches your safe space. Your ability to articulate honesty to a guy you're not interested in, will come with ease, I guarantee it. Just a thought, of course I understand it would take a serious commitment, discipline, time, and of course it's not free. So I get it, it's not easy but anything that makes us stronger as a person isn't going to be. I like that you're willing to open a book and gather strength that way, it will strengthen you as well. Am I the only one who when trying to talk to a therapist I break down and start crying and can’t get a word out? I tried therapy before and I had the rudest therapist she started yelling at me because I wouldn’t talk but it was because I was having an anxiety attack I was 21 maybe younger back then so it was even harder for me. Then she just gave me a worksheet and told me to go do that. I never went back to therapy again even tho I need it. I was traumatized.
