So many just sing their National Anthem like in America, Passion shows it NOT JUST A SONG. What Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl performing America's National Anthem.
The performance of La Marseillaise in the movie "Casablanca" symbolically silencing the Nazis who started out singing their own German song, is one of the most patriotic moments in cinematic history!
Bravo Mireille Mathieu , ești Magnifică când cânți acest cântec ! Felicitări , Milioane de Felicitări pentru cea mai bună și cea mai Frumoasă Interpretă !
La Marsellaise will always be the basic pattern on which any rabble-rousing march (L'Internationale, Can You Hear the People Sing from Les Mis, etc) is based.
This anthem makes my blood boil, and my heart pound with courage! And I'm not even French! When this was written, the French people were having a revolution against their own tyrant, and 7 nations of Europe were also invading France at the same time. Les Marseilles is truly a rallying cry of the people to fight for their land, their freedom. The French have taught the world a lesson about human rights and democracy, a lesson still needed today. Respect! ✊🏻
Mike: The anthem of our country was composed based on this wonderful song LA MARSEILLAISSE ! And we still use it TODAY fighting the TYRANNY ! AL COMBATE CORRED BAYAMESES QUE LA PATRIA OS CONTEMPLA ORULLOSA NO TEMAIS UNA MUERTE GRORIOSA QUE MORIR POR LA PATRIA ES VIVIR EN CADENAS VIVIR ES VIVIR EN AFRENTA Y OPROBIO SUMIDOS DEL CLARIN ESCUCHAD EL SONIDO A LAS ARMAS VALIENTES, CORRED !
Patriotism from the heart... I wonder how many Have been inspired to join the French foreign Legion by this inspired national anthem the French foreign Legion are one of the most respected special forces in our world... Viva LaFrance from an US Air Force Veteran Visited France in the early 80s.
For the first time I saw the lyrics of the France Hymn, and was deeply astonished by it's content. I understood one more time why for French people freedom, liberty and democracy are so important ! Thanks
This was the first time I'd heard La Marseillaise all the way through, and the first time to read the translation. DAM! gave me goose bumps, made shivers run up my spine! As I was listening, I saw the Revolution, and more importantly I saw the Nazi troops marching through Pairs streets, I saw that famous photo of the French man BAWLING his eyes out as the enemy marched through his city. . . Thanks for posting!
It's a truly magnificent anthem. It's my favorite anthem of all--and I'm not French! When I was at CCNY so many decades ago my European history professor Dante Puzo referred to La Marsellaise as the last great folk song of Western civilization.
Never knew the lyrics. For a country that is the laughingstock of the military world the French sure have a beyond the pale violent anthem. Pretty cool video though.
I wonder how many non-French speakers understand that the words speak of spilling the enemies' "impure blood" (sang impur) into the furrows of the ground? Powerful.
Powerful, indeed, but it was not intended to be a literal translation. You're right-- many non-French speakers will probably not understand the context of "sang impur." As I mentioned in the note accompanying the post, I weighed "literal accuracy, lyrical style, and contemporary US context."
@@zefyrisd69 What are you talking about..... the french wanted a bloodbath and it turned up to be an unnecessary bloodbath, the King and the Queen were not tyrants, they were young and naive, the amount of people killed in the name of freedom is not a proud moment in the history of France, and worse, it's celebrated on the 14/07 every years, like it was a celebration of death. The commoners of France executed innocents, for what?, because they were noble or richer. I am french, and I do cry every time I hear La Marseillaise, but I am also realistic, that french revolution achieved nothing.
@@zefyrisd69 wow thanks for teaching me something new and very interesting, in my opinion the song lyrics have become even more powerful. It is very interesting reading the lyrics to the song in context to the revolution.
I am part French through my 6th great grandfather and during the French/English War is when my French ancestors came to the American colonies but to this day my family's French heritage has never left our hearts.
We are all descendants of blood and gore. It just so happens that the free countries of the west have done far more with their blood and gore. No blood, no gore, no us.
Stirring song, but the lyrics are very blood thirsty, but so are parts of the Star Spangled Banner. I would have liked some images of Charlemagne, Jon of Arc, Louie XIV and Louie XVI, Voltaire, Napoleon. De Lesseps, Louis Braille, Louis Pasture, Marshal Petain, Marshal Foch, PM Clem-ensue, Charles De Gaul, Joc Le Clare, Pepe La Pue, and Macron. Notice I left out Roe-sue because he was an ass. Maybe I should have put in Guillotine. for coming up with a "merciful" way to dispatch problem people.
A lot of French people think it's ridiculous to sing about spilling impure Prussian/German blood into the soil of France while the democratically elected German Chancellor takes the salute in Paris. The Algerians also refuse to revise their anthem's verbal attack on France which comes across as idiotic today.
I see this lovely, gripping rendition as an exercise to justify a nice glass of wine and a charcuterie instead of a call to arms. The French seem more inclined toward irritation and sharp language than real patriotism...in my experience.
Best version I’ve heard!
I love this. Casablanca explained. Please share to 5 million, so my heart may at last, rest in peace.
She's got some real passion. Very impressive! I think it's my favourite rendition of the current French national anthem in its glorious entirety!
So many just sing their National Anthem like in America, Passion shows it NOT JUST A SONG. What Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl performing America's National Anthem.
It brought tears to my eyes.
And we Canadians thought the American Anthem was blood thirsty! Lol! I remember having to learn this in Grade 9 French class...1965!
Vive La France. Happy Bastille Day 2022.
She still sends shivers down my spine, every time I hear this ❤
Questo con il nostro penso siano i più belli, senza nulla togliere a tutti gli altri, a ogni popolo piacerà il proprio.
One of the greatest patriotic songs that have ever been sung.
Vive France 🇫🇷!!!
Je suis un étranger, mais j'aime sa chanson d'amour naturelle à la France,
qui a une histoire riche.
I am an American I am an Air Force veteran and I cannot say I cannot be more inspired viva LaFrance
cool. just to tell u it vive
Thank you sir.

l'inno nazionale francese è il più bello in assoluto, ha una carica emotiva immensa
I think a new fight is coming our way, and we shall win again! Je pense qu'un nouveau combat s'annonce, et nous gagnerons encore !

My family and I was there! We stood underneath the Tower (back then it was all white gravel rock, not blacktop as it is today).

How could you ever lose a rugby match after that! No wonder Father Jack stood up!
Allez Mireille vas-y musique 🎶 🎵
Che bello che è l'Inno Francese 💖💖💖
The greatest rendition of the greatest anthem of all time.
An overwhelmingly great performance of perhaps the greatest song of the world.
I'm not French.... But it's my fav anthem...... I literally love her voice and this anthem 🖤✨🖤✨🖤✨
1989. That was a good year for freedom and liberty!
One of the greatest songs ever created.
Incredible anthem
Reminds me of how stirring the scene in “Casablanca” was where the French patriots drowned out the Germans.
Bon soir.
Je vous eccoutte le lettre aux Francais. Je souis Mexicanie me c'est au Francaise Himme. Cebiene que ce chante aux Francais.

Great Anthem.The Marsellesa.Beatiful.
Chapeaux to the lyrics of the hymn, the music and the singer. Vive la France!
Vive La France
One of the greatest National Anthems.
Increíble canto de comando al igual que el cubano y el mexicano .con estos himnos cualquier ciudadano se vuelve . Patriota.
I love the melody of the song. But I'm quite surprised with the lyrics
You and me both, especially when I heard from actual linguists and historians! My French stinks, but the song is great.
The lyrics where prophetic. (See new nazi Russia & its victims). Slava Ukrajini 🇺🇦
I mean, Cut the throats of children! Spill their blood! YIKES! I understand it all but oh my.... And I absolutely love their anthem. Viva La France!
We are all descendants of blood and gore. It just so happens that the free countries of the west have done far more with their blood and gore.
No blood, no gore, no us.
Rather blood thirsty .I pictured the french revolution
Grandios
No wonder the nazis in casablanca were so pissed
Between Bogie and this song, they should've seen it coming!
Victor Laszlo: "Play La Marseillaise. Play it!"
One of the great moments in a great film.

Winceworthy lyrics, sung wonderfully.

Vive la Liberte!!
My mom loved her music
Not exactly PG 13 is it !!!.
Magnificent.
Beautiful song. But like, battalions is a word in English too...
Thanks. My French stinks.
Vive le France

Mimi la meilleure !!!!
Now that is a national anthem, better than our dirge

And
something indescribable
Blasting it in my back yard.
Wow, awesome,! Respect...
Best ever!!
Well, that was pretty violent...
Yikes! I never knew what the lyrics were about. Has anyone ever heard a more bloodthirsty anthem? Let us know in the comments. 😬
❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️👍
Very cool.
Que boca dios mio !?!?!?!?!
full of passion ,unlike our boring 'Gawd save the Queen '
in my opinion, Rule Britannia or Land of Hope and Glory is much better than the 19th century tune.
And Americans are called blood thirsty!
we should live in atmosphere with no king,
they who sang at 1789, paid by blood to proof that
You mean English subtitles?
United strong
I thought the music marvellous. But the text too hard. Now when
and...btw, it should be sung everwhere in franc eand acted with it, against those fascist EU
