I think the second girl group definitely used the fact that there was three preforming. Vs three singles preferring together. The first one tried but one was focusing on steps and didn’t play along. But the second one was a team. The best example was the crawling and dragging each other back and interacting that way. Loved that.

because "violently throwing themselves" is actually dangerous tbh. they could've hurt themselves while doing those since there are three people and it was a tight space. they weren't just throwing themselves it represents the whole concept of the song. the fact they were going off in that part is actually impressing because some of them were doing it according to the beat and lyrics isn't something you could actually do right away. :)

Everyone held their own, 1:47 but am in the only one who thought hands down the second team killed this shit. Especially the front dancer!!! She was amazing. Just look at 1:47, that hand and head movements was killer, she did amazingly good!!! I didn’t pay attention to the other two as much, cause she caught my attention the whole time. Superb!!
I can't get over how consistently good Jake's choreography is. His style is unmistakable and technically difficult. The movements are deceptively smooth and masterfully moving through those movements with the style that Jake does is REALLY difficult. He doesn't look to have specific "moves" a lot of the time, and his whole body seems to be dedicated to the story of moving from point to point in his choreo with unparalleled fluidity and texture. Some of his moves are what I can only describe as "unquantized" (like how in the actual fuck does 0:58 just happen like that???) yet Jake never looks to miss a beat. I don't think I'm doing it justice with what I've said, but he's a master of his craft, and it's always a learning experience to watch what he does.
i once read someone else point out how jake's choreography leaves a lot of room for improvisation (he does frequently leave a good 10~ seconds for freestyling as well) but this nicely complements that statement, sort of explaining why.
The kid is and the one wearing black from the first group are amazing dancers. The way she isolated her movements and the kid for being able to even do this choreography. But man, I really felt the song with the way Alyson portrayed this dance. It was so amazing.
I know why Alison Stoner's segment stands out to me. She is the only one dancing from the mindset of the character in the song. Have you googled the lyrics? She's just committed murder, knows she's about to get caught, and things are unraveling. The dancers behind her almost function like demons who pushed her to kill and are trying to drag her down to hell. I mean that whole fight scene in the middle is everything. And in the end, she makes one push to get free, to reach out to the viewer. Deep stuff. That the other groups somehow shift to smiling through the end of the segment, as if it's a party, they aren't listening to the plot of the song. They are all dancing BRILLIANTLY, but Alison...she is telling the story of the song.

I know why Alison Stoner's segment stands out to me. She is the only one dancing from the mindset of the character in the song. Have you googled the lyrics? She's just committed murder, knows she's about to get caught, and things are unraveling. The dancers behind her almost function like demons who pushed her to kill and are trying to drag her down to hell. I mean that whole fight scene in the middle is everything. And in the end, she makes one push to get free, to reach out to the viewer. Deep stuff. That the other groups somehow shift to smiling through the end of the segment, as if it's a party, they aren't listening to the plot of the song. They are all dancing BRILLIANTLY, but Alison...she is telling the story of the song.
I know right? They're all saying she is exaggerating her facial expression. It fits the song perfectly.
