My exam is in 2 hrs and I thought to open youtube so I can understand better and I just want to thank you❤❤❤ because how the hell is it this easy and I was struggling all year
I was struggling to understand the explanation by my optician, why there are two different ways of the same prescription. Now it's much clearer as my new glasses! Thankyou :)
Sir .........really i am thanking you frm the bottom of ma heart...bcz you explained it very easily...sometimes ,another faculties make it very tough when they explained it ...but you r just awsome🥰
Of course, if you wish, you can convert this prescriptions, by converting to Spherical Equivalent. To do that, you just take the "Spherical" measurement, and add 1/2 the astigmatic value. You can ignore the angle. I personally prefer being prescribed with a spherical lens - as I do that myself. Thanks for your excellent discussion.
Ian Squire Hi Ian - Thanks for your reply. I generally check my own refractive status using spherical lenses. If I can read the 20/20 line though a spherical, I just do not use a Toric. In my opinion, a person should be informed, that a toric lens is optional, if he has 20/20 though a spherical. I personally would not wear a lens, if I had naked-eye 20/20, with perhaps a self-measured astigmatism of 1.5 diopters. It means the difference between wearing glasses all the time, or wearing no glasses at all. (I would definitely given the patient that educated choice.
Hi thanks for this. Is there anyway, for bifocals where there is reading lens, which numbers to add that to in order to get the reading glasses prescription? For example, with a distance prescription of -0.50, +2.75, 017 (vs it's transposition +2.25, -2.75, 107) , which transposition do I add this 1.75 number to in order to get the reading lens spherical prescription or does it matter?
I appreciate your explanation of the optical cross, it was excellent! I am still a little confused of the 'why' in the 3 transposition rules you showed. Why does the cyl symbol change, why do you add or minus 90 to the axis etc?
They’re equivalent that way. The “why” is because ophthalmologists typically write their prescriptions in plus cylinder while optometrists usually write their prescriptions in minus cylinder.
@@jimhaggard7436 Why do ophthalmologists typically write in plus cylinder? Will the effect for the person wearing the glasses be any different? Will the overall thickness of the lens be the same if written either way? I guess in other words, will the lens be exactly the same if written either way???
@@drdenniskessler this is my distance eyeglass prescription written in minus cylinder: OD - 2.25 - 0.75 x 180 OS - 2.25 - 0.75 x 180 and in plus cylinder: OD -3.00 + 0.75 x 090 OS - 3.00 + 0.75 x 090 They look different but are optically equivalent (the same).

Great Explanation Sir
Very important to uss... Thank you so much
Thank for video..you explain much simple than my teacher
Thank you Sir 🙏 you make it very simple!!
3:49in rule 3,simply add both cyl & sph power algebraically to get new sphere power.
Best explanation sir.... 👌👌👌🙏
Good... Very good wants more such video.... But sound should be next video.... Salute
Very good sir nice help

great explanation.... simple transposition method...
Good morning sir, my name is rajendra Kumar ponukumati, you explained excellently, thank you very much sir
Great experience, excellent education, keep it up.
U are a very good teacher THANK YOU
Do you need toric, if you have 0.25 Diopters of Astigmatism?
thanks for your coaching.

Very good explanation
Great explanation...thank you sir....next time please can you explain us toric transposition
Same thought here
If I don't have sph power then how do we convert? sph = 0, cyl = 0.5, axis = 170
You can also compensate cylinder as the 1/2 amount of sphere.
Do you have any videos on Prisms?
Good teaching
Great explanation sir. This video shows simple transposition method, what's the method for toric transposition sir? thank you in advance.

Thank you sir very simple way to understand this 👍👌👌

If the axis is 90°, what i am dowing this time?
Sir..why we do transposition ?
What's the importance of transposition ?
Why one should transpose and which power is favourable minus cyl or plus cyl
