I think putting reverb on his voice would have firmly nailed the song into the 70s, as it is it feels completely timeless like it could have been recorded yesterday
There was an effect on his voice in the second half, they put a flanger/phazer on it, and to me it makes that part of the song.
I remember hunting this down after hearing the sample on 'My name is' and absolutely fell in love with this track, the double time in the final third is brilliant, certainly a talented guy!
Thank you for your reaction. I discovered this after watching better call saul and instantly heard the eminem sample and i had to find this. I fell in love. SUBSCRIBED!🔥🔥🔥
Better Call Saul brought me here as well. Season 5 Episode 8: Bagman, the desert scene @ the 39:00 minute mark
Great review of a great song guys.. Have you listened to the whole album yet? It's a classic.
Did you guys hear this on the Netflix show Lupin? I had to replay that part and and Shazam it to find out what this song was.
Then I was a little cheesed that I didn't know about this 25 years ago when I thought I was the smartest guy in the room for listening to esoteric funky music.
Finally, i recognized all of the samples that have been based on this song and realized that I did, indeed, know it 25 years ago.
Top tracks using this song. There is a lot more.
Def Squad: Countdown
Jay-Z: Streets is Watching
Beatnuts: Beatnuts 4 Ever
Wu-Tang: Can it be so simple
Eminem: My Name is
Eminem . My name is . He used this sample
Disagree big time on needing an effect on the vocals, it's clean and his vibrato is wonderful.
Its from Eminem's "My Name is..." Here's the TH-cam link if you want to hear the song. th-cam.com/video/sNPnbI1arSE/w-d-xo.html
Nope, other way around. This song is from the 70s and em released his song around the 90s
@@NicoleTyrneyMoore I only meant if they wanted to hear how Em used it as a sample.
Yeah, Eminem must have listened to 1970"a funk more than I did, sample for ' My Name Is... Slim Shady". It's a genius Mash Up
'My Name is...' was produced by Dr Dre. I'm pretty sure the sample came from his musical exploration stemming from his childhood.
In my opinion "I got the.." is one of the greatest songs of all time... of any genre. I love all kinds of music but I just keep coming back to this one year after year. Good stuff guys.
Thanks!
