I really enjoyed the new 11yr local barley. The funk is back with this dram. Tastes like some of the better 12CS releases with its bourbon/sherry mix, but it has that cereal/grassy element that you tend to get with the local barley (except for the oloroso batch). Very little rum cask influence as far as I could tell. Is it worth the price? Probably not, but I had it closer to an 88 and liked it more than last years all bourbon batch.
57.1 abv is 100 imperial proof. Luckily, I really don't get on with the springbank character, so I haven't been affected by the high demand. Cheers, Rob. I hope you have a wonderful school year
it comes across quite one-note for me after 3 tries. very coastal and licoricy.. really hunting for the fruit. reminds me of the black label ardnamurchan.
Hey Rob, if you see this comment I just picked 11 year local Berley co-op of whiskey. They have them on sale right now. I also got the 18 spring bank and they have the 21 and the 15 just to let you know.
Great review. This is off my radar and it's just too hard to get for a reasonable price. I've had better luck getting Kilkerrans so sticking with those for now.
Dude, everytime I see you with a local barley I think about the bottle blew up in shipping, RIP. Did that ever get replaced? Also, great idea putting the 5 year old society release into this for comparison. Makes sense.
I would take the 12 CS 2023 over Local Barley stuff. I have always found local Barley to under perform for it's price. The only Springbank now truly worth of it's money are the 12 CS and it's $130 MSRP here.
Local Barley has gone astronomical price wise, cannot justify a purchase in any way, shape or form. A question: if you were going to splurge say US$1200 on a single bottle what would be your pick?

Cheers buddy
Very cool release from the Springbank Society.

@@WhiskyInThe6 I tried to erase that comment I was mistaken. I wasn’t allowed to order it.

where on earth did you find any type of Springbank?
Finally bit the bullet and bought my first local barley and it's this one. I'm too scared to open it.
lol I hear you
Bravo 👏 Roberto! Grazie 🙏 ciao 👋 S.
Grazie. Tutti aposto per te?
Rob where do you buy these from? I’m also in the 6
My friend picked them up for me in Alberta while he was there.

I found a way to replace it but that particular bottle I got refunded.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Glad it worked out in the end.

Agreed. The 2020 local barley is a different story though.
The 100 proof is imperial proof. I had the chance to taste the whisky before they watered it down and it was delicious - really surprised me.
I really like it.
2:12 did you mean the 15? or is there a 16 im unaware of?
The local barley 16 year old was pretty legendary. The standard 15 comes out every year
😁

If you can find a Benromach 40 for that price I’d get that.
@@WhiskyInThe6 thanks man I appreciate the recommendation. Not sure I’ll find it for that price but I’ll keep looking an hope to get lucky.
Local Barley, the price was more than doubled in last 3 years. 😵💫
Insane.
That doesn't sound good, I just got Local11 for $430
That’s a lot of money.
