You are so right! Had a friend who was unable to listen to music outside the "Indie scene" and Punkrock. And we were so blessed living next to the "Forum Enger" in Germany. Not too far from the NL and DK also - great Festivals everywhere around. If a song/band sounded like Dancefloor, HipHop etc., entered the top area of a list or else it could be as good as heaven - he did not listen and allow himself to like it. Thankfully i went to places that he could not reach because of this harmful "pseudoelite self-incarceration". He is an old loner now with little to no fun in his life.
