Two thumbs up in the air for you brother keep up the great work making awesome TH-cam videos much love and respect for you
Yess, please make a video of that carbon recone for that HDC3! SoundQubed said they were going to make the carbon cones available for the public. And I plan on getting them for my 18's
what would cause one coil to not play? sub was barely on when it went out, faded in and out for about a week.. checked all wires it's either in the lead or a short in coil it self. sub sounds fine no black on coil but I can not get other coil to play. sub is DD 818
chris jones it is most likely in the tensile lead or internal on the coil link that runs along the former, this is the part that links the coil to the tensile. If it is tensile just reconnect, if it isn't visual then a recone will fix it.
James Garrison depends how bad it is rubbing? Sometimes the sub just needs to be turned in the box and it will clear up. But if it is consistent it will need a recone.
th-cam.com/video/7LulPSEgip8/w-d-xo.html another think that proves what you say, is the difference of the color of the coil, because when the xmax was hit, the coil stay with out magnet flux of the gap. so it hasn't have impedance, and flow a lot of current on that.
Daniel M that is possible but normally the coil will be darker at the bottom because that part says in the magnet most and once the magnet gets hot it will heat soak into the coil.
excellent tutorial! good work explaining that rip, didn't even know what a triple joint was before this video
i have nothing like that but it trying to be certified bass head if it ever happens i save this video love your work keep up the good job ✌

Subwoofer King yes they are available for the public now. Call for pricing. And that video is coming up next!!!!
Great video, people gotta learn to properly loosen up the spiders.
Is that what a triple joint ring is for? Looking up parts to rebuild a 20 year old sub and trying to figure out if I need one.
what kind of adhesive or glue do you recommend to recone a sub?
SAS15G ca glue
Nice Share.. Been watching you for a while now thought I subd Now I am :-). Have a good 1 and keep bassin!! Peace.
I need a recon kit for my hds208 2ohm they don't sell it on soundqubed com
Eric Schiffer call them

AMICUSTOMS I understand a recone will fix it but I think an internal problem should be a warranty claim
chris jones you will have to send it in to DD and let them decide.
AMICUSTOMS for almost 400$ to recone with shipping I think not.
chris jones why is shipping $200? A recone is only $200 installed by them for that sub.
Great video, thanks!
Are you going to be at slamology?
James Taylor yes I will be
See you there, love the video by the way!
thank you for share your knowledge!
Awesome video 👍
My coil was black new from soundqubed...
When a coil rubbing subwoofer need to recone huh?
James Garrison depends how bad it is rubbing? Sometimes the sub just needs to be turned in the box and it will clear up. But if it is consistent it will need a recone.
AMICUSTOMS i only hear it when i push down on it at the top of the woofer. But i do smell them tho
James Garrison by top you mean center of the woofer at the dust cap? I would play them til they blow if there is no audible noise when playing.
AMICUSTOMS no i mean the surroundings i push down like by the gasket
James Garrison what about directly in the center? pushing on the surround will cause rubbing in almost any sub and that is normal
They just have to add a bigger spider
