This is from a bebop concert in Toronto's Massey Hall in 1953. Charles Mingus secretly recorded this on a wire recorder. He felt this meeting of masters needed to be preserved. Reissued later as "Jazz at Massey Hall." First jazz record I ever purchased.
@@kerencanelo8580 I couldn't tell you; perhaps it was about top billing: Bird & Diz or Diz & Bird. Or perhaps because Dizzy did not get his fee, while Bird did. I wish I knew more about this milestone concert.
is really somebody there LOVE hearing this music ?.... I just think that there's a quite similar relationship between resolving a SUDOKU and listening to this song.
Wow - this brings back childhood memories. My older brother was into jazz and bebop, the intricacies of which were lost on me. I would sit confused as he seemed to go into some sort of coma. I loved this, however. Dizzy won me over!
@@yaboi-km2qn as far as all the literature that has been written in dizzy and by his peers he was never a drug user. Maybe weed but he was bit known to use anything harder.

My first LP . My father gave it to me as I was 16 years old. I still dig it to day 76 years later.
I still think that Bud Powel does his very best on this concert.
Not many people understant the culture of jazz, but this represents what it stands for, this is classic
