I played in this plane as a child when it was in the junk yard in Lagrange Maine when I was a kid we used to bicycle down there from town and play all day in this old plane later on I cut some of the control cables out for the steering on my soap box derby racer this was back in the early fifties glad this guy got it and will try and bring it back to life if my memoery is right it had an oversized door made into it and was a transport of some kind my favorite position was the tail gun seat that was still in it us kids bombed the heck out of the Germans many a time in this old plane
You need to get someone like Boeing, a George Lucas a Steven Spielberg, etc. to help fund this and similar restoration projects. Even the government...
I live about 1700 miles away from Marengo, IL so for updates. Progress is slow because they are privately funded. Donations directly to their project would help. For the latest information check out their facebook page: facebook.com/12595DesertRat/
That's quite a project you have there. Looks as if the progress is coming along nicely. Keep us posted. Hope to see her together!
Really hope to see it fly again

oh yeah the stainless turbo chargers would still spin after laying out to the weather all those years
With the big cargo door it was the one and only XC-108, converted from a B-17E, no longer a bomber.
I'm happy to see another b17 getting restored .. how's the plane coming along?
They are making much progress on the fuselage. The engines and wings have a long ways to go.

So what state is the plane in now 2020 .🇺🇸🛠
when I used to play in this plane in the mid fifties the tail gunners seat was still in the tail section
There are a lot of parts scattered about. That seat may be around there somewhere!
Guys, I have a B17 wooden model for which I need 2 props. Damned housekeepers.
Right down the road from my house..
Hope he gets to put her in the sky..
Guess I'll find out when I see them making their runway bigger.
Please repeat the model maker’s name. I need a couple of model props made.
Are you doing an update soon? I'm getting restless lol.
