If the Democrats had the balls to just let her run in 2020, she might be the one running for re-election this time around. At the time, despite being a conservative voter since 1994, I was fully in the grip of a second-hand case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, which I contracted through all of the damnable lies the media was telling me about the man. The events of 2023 and 2024 have fully cured me, and I'm getting ready to vote for Trump for the actual first time. But at first? I was so disgusted with both my choices in 2016 that I wrote In the only name I could think of that represented the sort of leadership I wanted in the White House: Coach Nick Saban. Of course, even though it didn't feel like it then, that was such a simpler time... But after Tulsi's takedown of Kamala Harris in that debate, I would have voted for her in a hot second. It's so telling that no matter how many identity politics boxes she checks with her personal story, she still got drummed out of the Democratic Party anyway, because there was one identity she did not claim: identifying as "someone who will think exactly the way we think, and say exactly the things we want her to say." That's how she gets squeezed out by rich old white ladies like Nancy Pelosi - no matter how Democratic or liberal Tulsi may have considered herself or even voted, she insisted on thinking for herself and refused to bend the knee or kiss the ring. If it weren't for that, I'm pretty confident that she would be the president of the United States today. And we would have been so, so much better off. Yes, IMO, even better off than if Trump had been reelected - I think a gap between two terms has allowed him to analyze the successes and failures he had as president, and also to flush the toilet on a lot of his advisors and underlings, and surround himself with people better equipped to help him navigate the swamp he is trying to drain.

I am a lifelong conservative, but have only recently come around to the idea of Trump, because of how they are behaving, how they treated him, and exactly the sorts of forces that are all conveniently lining up against him. Even if I have some disagreements with the man, all this is truly not about him at all. If nothing else, I've decided that they simply can't have him. If he goes out like that, we all do.
But right after she destroyed Kamala in that debate? There was no question that we would be a damn sight better off today with her in the White House, and that has only become more obvious in the following years. The same forces are hot on her heels, too. The enemy of my enemy, etc.

One lesson Trump learned perfectly from his first term was how to better choose the appropriate people for the appropriate positions. Vance is exactly where he needs to be to help the most, and Tulsi and RFK will be as well. He did choose a few real stinkers the last time around, but most of the problem seemed to be that he didn't quite have the right people in some of the right places. Good people, just not in the right positions. I don't see him making this mistake a second time. He won't just be a better president, he will literally be a better executive. There's no way a lifelong CEO like Trump doesn't learn those lessons after such public deficiencies.

In 2020, she introduced 2 Bills, one 'to ensure medical care to babies born alive after attempted abortion', and one 'to block abortion of fetuses capable of feeling pain'. She had previously voted against a similar Bill but had revised her opinion thereafter. I am not sure of her current position, but if she were to develop her ideas further and evolve into a pro-life purist, then that would place her out of step with many Republicans, including President Trump.
