    I think this is a very smart move! Wisdot, you always come up with great ideas, and this is one of the best!

    Other than the state's hard on for making things dangerous for bicycles (it should be legal to use a bike on a sidewalk where it's safer), I'm excited to see this come to completion. DDI's work great in a high volume area like this, and I drive this intersection often for work.

    Walls will be placed along I-39/90 and corresponding ramps, such as the I-39/90
    northbound ramp from WIS 26, in Janesville due to the slight change in
    elevation of the Interstate in this area. Access will remain open to Cracker
    Barrel and other area businesses. Stay informed with the I-39/90 Expansion
    Project website, www.i39-90.wi.gov.

    in order for roads to have a speed limit greater than 55 mph in Illinois or Wisconsin or Indiana or Michigan or Iowa, it has to be a multi-lane divided highway. Good Lord, here in Texas, we've had even 2 lane farm to market roads posted at 70 mph since 1996 (night: 65 prior to September 2011) and eventually roads had increased to 75 mph, starting in 2002 and 2003 in west Texas and 2005 in south Texas on select stretches of highways in the sparsely populated counties, and by 2012 and 2013, that same 75 speed limit extended everywhere else in Texas, such as east Texas and the Panhandle.

    I like the idea of a DDI both here and at I-43/WI 100 (north - Brown Deer Rd).
    OTOH, in the deeper future, I cannot help but to expect that the signals will ultimately have to be removed entirely from WI 26, at least for traffic between I-39/90 to the south and the WI 26 freeway to the north, as well as around I-94 in Johnson Creek, with WI 26 becoming a full freeway the entire way between I-39/90 and US 151 (at Beaver Dam?).
    Also, one question, what is the standard procedure for traffic control for the crossover intersections in a DDI whenever the power to the signals goes out?

      My problem and this really gets me mad is that I-43 even goes to Beloit, it should go to Janesville and if signs for 90 south say Beloit in Janesville then why do signs for 90 north in Beloit say Madison and not Janesville! Janesville is a class I control city and Beloit is a class II control city and Janesville is twice the size of Beloit!

      +Ian Corkhill the original plan for what ultimately became I-43 to Beloit (then WI 15) was for it to run east-west between Beloit and Janesville to ultimately feed into WI 11/81 at its split on the south side of Brodhead. Note the preserved ROW for a diamond interchange there, as well as for a future four-lanes upgrade from there westward towards Monroe.

      +Ian Corkhill Madison takes priority, and Beloit is the last city in the state.

    Yeah and for now the road is all torn up and every day there’s semis that cause a back up on the lane to turn onto southbound 90 from southbound 26 and a very dangerous situation happens.

    • @danjones6038
      @danjones6038 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it’s the semis fault .... boy your intelligence amazes me how bout the fact it’s the way that wi dot has the lights timed ..... your an idiot

    • @TheMW2informer
      @TheMW2informer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danjones6038 what I was saying really did happen every day for a while, also they would routinely block the intersection at Kettering, making all cross traffic have to wait at a green light. I think it wasn’t their fault because gps was probably not updated.

    Good Lord! Please NO!!! After using the one at hwy 11/I90 many times, I find it to be a stupid waste of cement. Half the time I see people starting to go the wrong way, stop, back up, try to figure it out. I really see no advantage to the design, and it adds more traffic lights. Because everyone loves traffic lights. Just repair the beautiful Cloverleaf interchange! So much nicer.

    Jesus!!!! what's happening to our two lane interstates? they're expanding more and more interstate highways/freeways to three lanes, back in the late 80's and 90's when I went on road trips, interstates had two lanes immediately out of urban/suburban areas. I-90 in Illinois was two lanes from west of Elgin at Randall Road to Rockford. Now it's expanded to three lanes and there are lights in the median just about the entire way, on I-57 today going south, the lights continue into Will County, and end at mile 332, before they ended in Matteson around Lincoln Highway exit 340.

      6 Lane Freeways are Better than 4 Lane Freeways in Most Cases right? There needs to be more of 6 Lane Rural freeway stretches in the Midwest
