Great video, my only thought, don't soda cans generally have a thin plastic lining on the inside? Worried about eating melted plastic with the cotton candy unless it is cleaned out beforehand
That's usually tin cans, so they don't rust inside when food is put in them. Soda cans don't rust because they're aluminium, therefore they don't have/need any lining (at least none of the ones I've seen/heard of).
It's 4 AM, I'm never going to build this, in a few hours I wont even think about it ever again. Yet here I am watching the entire clip... What am I doing with my life?
Hello Fixitsamo! I made your machine, but I think my motor goes too fast or the gas is too hot. I get more melted sugar in the bowl than cotton. I did get cotton but only a little. More when I cut the machine off it made some. Any ideas?
if your wondering wtf does he use for sugar? um it's ethyl malto and grain sugar in some mixer with red food dye. you can buy it on Amazon though I'd be interested in how it's made though I use the ethyl maltose to make cotton candy flavored ejuice it's yummy
should of torched each piece of the pop cans b4 assembly, they contain a plastic coating on them.(or soaked them in a paint thinner or nail polish remover/thoroughly scrubbed with them, and then washed with hot soap and water)
got it from amazon its called chuck setwww.amazon.ca/LESOLEIL-0-5-3mm-Small-Electric-Collet/dp/B012Z3HVGU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1466536368&sr=8-3&keywords=chuck+set
you have got to love cotton candy to go to all that trouble for a miniature serving. more power to you, but ill wait for the carnival to come to town. by the time you made me an actual serving, i would be on to the candy apples.
i didnt see how you installed the torch because i want to make this machine my family and I love cotton candy always been wanting to know how to make a machine
Great jury-rigg!! :-) That shows you how much hot air is in cotton candy.... It's a rip off! P.S. To those who care... You could put a large coil of wire around the spinner cup & connect it to a variable fin capacitor in series with an isolation transformer to inductively heat the sugar with wall current instead of propane if you wanted.
@@fixitsamo At time 0:42 , you say lock it with 2 screws, what does that mean? I need to buy separate screws or you mean to tighten it with 2 rotations?
ymmm no, the sugar melted in pot have a little bit of other taste, collor and structure, then that make like in normal cotton candy machine. Also is easier to make cotton candy this way, and dont bother with melting the sugar properly.
+bobby90247 no you didn't unfortunately it was a video editing mistake and we couldn't including the torch installation part cause the video was already posted on TH-cam :(
Thanks! Love your video's, they are waaay...cool!!! AND, you make them so simple. I was totally unaware of the utensils you use in these videos. Where do you get them as I have never seen them before. Of course, I didn't know they existed or what they are called. Like da "Pineapple" corkscrew device...WOW! Gotta' have one of those :)
the holes should have been drilled in the lateral wall, not in the upper lip. and connect the motor to a 9v DC supplier, not a battery. and you could have used a second big bowl glued upside down on the first big bowl but only the 5 cm lip. This way all the candy cotton will stay inside the bowl. put a 12v slightly bigger motor and you'll need the burner no more. This is how I would have done it...
If you're sure the container you're using is 100% aluminum you're safe up to ~2,500C. Unless you're heating the aluminum with an oxy acetylene torch, the sugar itself will be the only thing hazardous to your dietary health.
Technically sugar is healthy as its needed in a healthy diet but its similar to sodium in that the foods we eat have so much of it already that any excess is consider unhealthy and is why its looked down upon as unhealthy.
SpydreX Official Sorry friend, it's not. Anyone who has told you that cares nothing for your health or state of mind, they care only that you consume and purchase the product. Sugar is a toxin, and a neurotoxin, and the insulin your body produces to neutralize it is *also* a toxin. It damages nearly every single metabolic function of your body over time, including your mental acuity. Fructose from fruit is fine only because your body burns most of the excess fructose to breakdown their high fiber content. Eating raw sugar is equivalent to smoking methamphetamine and is even more addicting than cocaine. I once thought the same things, and when I delved into the molecular and chemical science behind it I couldn't remain in denial. We are being poisoned by the food industry, and there are some extremely sick and powerful people who are orchestrating it. Yes, the truth is pretty shitty, but if you want to know the reality, you can start here: authoritynutrition.com/how-much-sugar-per-day/ And yeah, I'm not fun at parties.
+Lol'de Çarım Çalındı :DD I got it from a home depot You can get at any hardware store And if u want you can get it online @ amazon look for ignition torch
lol... You're way off, its $28.44 at walmart. But after you add in the doctor bill from slashing your hand wide open when you use a hole saw to cut a soda can.... might as well splurge and buy the $200 machine.
If you use the syrup you will not need to heat lot easier without the heat this Earth is cheap and easy to make like you can buy it already made its cheap
Gave my hopes up on making this when he said what you needed for the project
always :)
This is a terrific project and your step-by-step instruction is perfect. Thanks,
Fixitsamo!
+Djinn1945 you're welcome 😀

Just a quick fact. There is Ink on the outside and plastic on the inside of canned beverages so not the best to heat up.
Beautifully finished at this level

hi.. is there any other thing, other than torch to heaten up this thing...
+Lovin Mashio Lenin
I tried with a candle it didn't work cause when the motor spins it creates air and it will tern off the candle flame
Yes, it uses normal sugar. There's a trick I know, you can melt the sugar on a gas stove or something else and pour it in.
dewolen I thought they add ethyl maltose to the sugar (it looks n feels like sugar but tastes like cotton candy) to the sugar for better flavor
You should put the links of the stuff were you bought it from

What if you used bigger soda cans? would it work better if it had a bigger area where you put the sugar candy in?
Nice one fixit. Brilliant piece of DIY.
thank you

And make sure the holes are not very big in your soda can
put some flaps so the air flow push the floss up and can be easily roll up

Try taking some Jolly Rancher candy and grinding it into a powder. Then put it into your machine. YUM YUM
Good vid. :) It seems like you left out the step of showing the making of the hole in the larger bowl for the flame, though.
+maintoc thank you and its true I realized it when I already posted the video sorry about that

can't you just melt sugar in a pot then put it in the machine? wouldn't that have the same effect?
Yeh
ymmm no, the sugar melted in pot have a little bit of other taste, collor and structure, then that make like in normal cotton candy machine.

Why don't you use a 9v ac adapter? that would be much efficient.

It will not poison me? Have you eat it? It is safe to it from heating aluminium can?
