I was in Baquba, Iraq in the early 1980's, this song takes me back in time to the 1980's. In those early days of 1980's in the Middle-East the life was very hard, this kind of Music kept most of the Indians, Pakistani and Bangladeshi people alive, who were working there. Indian Hindi Movies were coming up in Iraqi TV, every Friday afternoon. I didn't understand Urdu nor Hindi back then, my dad had a Pakistani driver, driving the sand color, Toyota Land Cruiser, he used to make us listen to this kind of Urdu songs, which were very beautiful and unique. You feel like listening to this song over and over and still not satisfied, dil mange more! The melody in Lata ji’s voice, the innocence of Supriya Pathak and Khayyam’s music, what more can one want? Lucky are the ones who had the privilege of these combination.

Tehzeeb (Manners), Adab (Refinement), Lihaaz (Respect), Khidmat (Service), Hunr (Talent), Nazaakat (Finesse) & Itminaan (Singular Focus). These words describe my nostalgia for the Mughal culture.

The most powerful thing about this song is the beautiful poetry by mir taki mir enhanced by soulful voice of lataji and wonderful composition of Khayyam sahab
The way Lata delivered this song, which is in Urdu, was excellent. Although her mother tongue is not Urdu and this song is in pure Urdu. Love from Pakistan.
U do know the base of Urdu is Hindi?? Urdu came out of Hindi not the other way around so why would Urdu be hard to speak for any Hindi speaking person??
Yeah, that is the rule. Every good thing is Indian and every thing which is bad is not Indian right? That's the logic you use here. And the Babri Masjid what was that. What were the 2000 Muslims who were slaughtered in Godra. You fuckin' people. Hindi is Indian not Urdu.
This is a long ghazal by the great Mir Taqi Mir. Its amazing how Khayyam sb took 4 shers out of it and made into a filmi song. The way it has been composed and performed. i have no words.
Just look at the those marvellous actors farooq sheikh, sudhir pandey, bharat Kapoor, supriya pathak, smita patil, naseer ji. Golden era and golden days.
sudhir pandey is not there..the man with lusful eyes behind supriya is sm other man...not pandey jee ok?? he playss the bluddy villain in the movie...by buying supriya off her greedy but poor parents..and thus separating the 2 cute luvers...sup and farooque....
@Adolf Hitler Are. You. Insane? these are stalwarts of our film industry....by that logic, no one sings in real life either. It's called acting for a reason!
What a song!! Lata ji’s melodious voice, Khayyam’s music and Supriya Pathak’s innocence and expressions made this song a masterpiece. Yes, those days are gone, now we get meaningless songs and if lucky, once in ages you get a song worth remembering.
these words have been written in 18th century for Lata Ji!!! before her arrival to this world poets have started to dish out couplets in the honor of Goddess of Music!!! You will be missed Lata Ji whenever someone thinks about perfection!!!

Surender Bhutani surendra sir you are among the last of the vanishing race, end of an era, an era that is marked with most beautiful heavenly compositions, alas, it has come to an end, but the melodies will echo, will reverb, will be felt with utmost awe and respect, for ages to come...forever and for always
This song I can listen for whole day without getting bored..it's having true emotions seems someone wrote it for true love who left him forever..means it's not fabricated or written for some movie.🎉🎉🎉great Mukesh sir has done justice with the emotions.😊
This is one of the best female voice I ever heard. Actually, Urdu Ghazal hai ye, lyrics samajhna bahat hi kathin hai for a Bengali person but dhun to lajawab hain. Phir bhi pura lyrics ka pata hota to maaza or bhi jyada hote.
God!! That’s like nectar dripping down your ears slowly, a drop per second, and your body absorbing and relishing almost mystically. This is almost cosmic. Lata Ji has enhanced its charm..........
Out of a huge plethora of Indian musical compositions, there are two songs (which too are more than 30 years old) have greatly impressed me due to their tunes as well as lyrical content. One is a hindi bhajan encrusted in heavy sinsicretised hindi nearly not understandable by the urdu audience( "Jhoyoti kalak chhamke..."). Luckily I have found a version which also gives its English translation, which makes a good sense to a non- hindi audience. The sacond is a romantic ghazal which purely for its lyrical beauty touches your inner chords( "Dikhai diye youn ke bekhud kia"). Today being Eid, I take the opportunity of sharing the joy of their listening pleasure with you provided you are prepared to give to them what you would in turn receive from them.
JUST CAN'T IMAGINE THAT THE SUPRIYA PATHAK WHO PLAYED HANSA IN KHICHDI. REALLY BEAUTIFUL AND NATURAL CUTS AND FEATURES OF SUPRIYA PATHAK. REALLY MIND BLOWING BEAUTY AND THE SOUND TRACE IS ALSO BRILLIANT BY KYAAM SAAB, ALTHOUGH BEAUTIFULLY SUNG BY LEGEND LATA JI. दिल चीर देने वाली आवाज
When I listen to this, I probably replay about 20 times if not more .. I am a true Lata BHAKT … This composition with the blessed voice of Maa Sarsawati definitely brings closer to God! ❤️🌹 A singer like you never dies, you will always remain in our heart forever
The more you listen the more you want to listen...that's the beauty of this song..the actress has personified the soul of this song through her mesmerizing smile!!! Anjum
I used to listen this song again and again when i was doing my Post graduation almost 22 yrs back mostly at night time, specially when it was raining. Parstis kiya tak ki kiye but tuje sabo ki nazar me khuda kar chale Excellent lines
The biggest strength of music are the words and then the vocals and finally the instruments. This superb song is a adaptation from the 18th century Urdu poet Meer (Lucknow) when he writes: "Dikhaai diye yun ki bekhud kiya Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale She appeared in such a way that I lost myself And went by taking away my 'self' with her Just her glimpse rendered me numb away she went leaving me separated from me" and to load these great words with Lataji's divine 80's voice and Khayyam Saab's melody of the 80's is sheer magic. The 80's though kind of considered a sort of Dark Ages (by Bollywood standards when MithunDa and Disco and Govinda rules roost) - that decade was filled with such gems littered all over! Compared to the trash that we turned into by this century (Bollywood music of this century is no match to what it created in last).... Today we have the best tech, best instruments, best singers, good musicians but where are the poets?! That's why poetry, language, literature matters so much.
Master piece. Every aspect. Just by getting out real expressions the director is genius. Choreography of artist sitting is wrk of immense talent. As i always say hindi movies or any indian language film is real India. Where talent flourishes not the religion.
What a wonderful song magical lyrics makers gave their 200% effort for making these masterpieces that kind of music I love and preferred to everyone taking leverage to it ❤

Imagine this: You are travelling alone in train..the train stops at an unknown station.. it’s 4 in the afternoon neither sunny nor the evening has set in.. you decide to take a stroll in the platform. Out of the comfort of AC you step down and welcomed by a cool breeze..you see in front of you miles and miles of green rice field..gently swindling with the breeze. A scene so serene and virgin that you always wanted it no other way.. unlike the concrete jungles or the cacophony u hear everyday.. and then a melody from far away pierces your ear straight to your heart.. as if the breeze is singing for you..a song u knew too well in your childhood but somehow got lost in the process.. a song coming from a small tea stall far across.. it’s faint but powerful. You close your eyes and let the moment sink in.. drink the moment onto your insatiable quench for a peaceful living. That’s the kind of peace this song brings into one’s ear.
Seldom is a film song so absorbing and mystical.....seldom is the acting so plainly modest but captivating....seldom are the vocals so magically penetrating .....and lastly, seldom is the poetry so sublime and meaningful.

Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
i saw u such that i got restless
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
u separated me from myself
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Dikhayi diye yun
Jabheen sajda karte hi karte gayi
forehead kept on bowing in prayers
Haq-e-bandagi ham adaa kar chale
i m done with the duty of "Haq-e-bandagi=devotionaly truthful"
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun
Parasthish kiya tak ke aye but tujhe
i kept worshipin "parasthish=worship" u u "buth=i think its statue"
Nazar mein sabhon ki khuda kar chale
made u the god in everyones eyes
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun
Bahut aarzoo thi gali ki teri
i was very much expecting the roads to ur home
So yaas-e-lahoo mein naha kar chale
bathed in the "yaas-e-lahoo=blood in despair"
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Dikhayi diye yun

Currently while listening it in a voice of Lata Ji I can't stop myself to sing this along. This song will remain in it's bloom in many coming generations. ❤🥀.
Notice their eye movements, Facial expression revealing their inner thoughts and conflicts and guilts. mesmerizing.

You feel like listening to this song over and over and still not satisfied, dil mange more! The melody in Lata ji’s voice, the innocence of Supriya Pathak and Khayyam’s music, what more can one want? Lucky are the ones who had the privilege of these combination.
It is a ghazal by MIR TAQI MIR, an 18th century Urdu poet. One of the greatest!

Mir Taqi Mir was an Indian...

I used to listen this song again and again when i was doing my Post graduation almost 22 yrs back mostly at night time, specially when it was raining.
Parstis kiya tak ki kiye but tuje sabo ki nazar me khuda kar chale
Excellent lines
The biggest strength of music are the words and then the vocals and finally the instruments. This superb song is a adaptation from the 18th century Urdu poet Meer (Lucknow) when he writes: "Dikhaai diye yun ki bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
She appeared in such a way that I lost myself And went by taking away my 'self' with her
Just her glimpse rendered me numb away she went leaving me separated from me"
and to load these great words with Lataji's divine 80's voice and Khayyam Saab's melody of the 80's is sheer magic.
O is it so...thanks for the information
Master piece. Every aspect. Just by getting out real expressions the director is genius. Choreography of artist sitting is wrk of immense talent.
As i always say hindi movies or any indian language film is real India. Where talent flourishes not the religion.
What a wonderful song magical lyrics makers gave their 200% effort for making these masterpieces that kind of music I love and preferred to everyone taking leverage to it ❤

Imagine this:
You are travelling alone in train..the train stops at an unknown station.. it’s 4 in the afternoon neither sunny nor the evening has set in.. you decide to take a stroll in the platform.
