    Everyone who says this isn't a good album, listen to it completely a few more times, you're still sleeping on ab. It's a perfect interpretation of these days, with actual lyricism.

    the fact Ab-soul gave Kendrick an interlude just as Kendrick gave him an outro on section. 80 is dope and basically using same song style. wow

      thats the beauty of tde, theyre always including each other, whether its an outro, interlude, background vocals or as simple as just a word here or there they always got a different member of tde in on it

    "Got your lady with literature in her Louis bag/got your kids studyin' outside of class/every project I dropped she bought 'em/so now she read more than she Red Bottom"
    If you think Ab-Soul is anything other than a genius, please make appointments with both your ear doctor and psychiatrist.

    • @lakaiisk8er
      @lakaiisk8er 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      can you explain please? i still dont understand the line

    • @davidwhiteboy2053
      @davidwhiteboy2053 10 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      lakaiisk8er Certainly. Ab-Soul is known for his conscious, enlightened and intelligent raps. Of all the other mainstream artists out, he is recognized as one of the most intelligent.
      He says that he has managed to get your lady with literature in her Louis Vuitton bag (in other words, though she is inclined towards materialism, Ab's music has sparked an interest in reading and information for her). He then says he has gotten kids to study outside of school, once more affirming that his raps are of an intelligent caliber, so much so that they have influenced children to study outside of school (something most kids loathe doing). The last (and best line) has Ab saying that the lady has purchased all of his albums and because of her listening to his music, she's reading more than she "Red Bottoms". Red Bottoms are very popular women's shoes designed by Christian Louboutin. Ab-Soul is, in effect, cementing the fact that he has caused a gravitation in her mind from materialism (yearning after something as shallow as shoes) towards intelligence and enlightenment (represented by her newfound interest in reading).
      Not only are the lines themselves great, the wordplay is terrific.

      I always felt like the line, "got your kid studying outside of class" is like he's saying, my rhymes have a lot of double meanings, metaphor's and very clever wordplay that if the kid wants to enjoy Soul's music he has study to figure out what he means, hence, he studying outside of class.

    This is my second listen to it this album is actually dope if you get what he's saying Kendrick summed up this album in his song i "These days of frustration keep y'all on tuck and rotation" Ab Soul is just showing us how he sacrificed this album to show us how hip hop is "These days"

    This album is awesome!!!!
    One I did not understand at first, but after I did the research it made more sense
    It is a roller-coaster of an album. I did not like that with my first listen. It was quite disturbing and uncomfortable.
    After the interviews and the more I listen the more creative I believe this album actually is!! He did a very very good job with song placement even though it was a little unconventional.
    The roller-coaster became smoother and more enjoyable with experience!! Some may think it is just a collection of songs randomly put together, but I think these songs were very strategically placed!

    Here's my 2 cents. Soul made this transition from control system to this because its simply whats going on these days. Either him talking from personal experience or whats being seen through his eyes. If you listen to the first song you'll think am i listening to control system because Gods Reign would fit perfectly in Control System. The intro being the way it is set up is because its where he left off at after Control System. Tree of Life before Ab even starts rapping he says "LT3 shit nigga look" which clearly gives you an introduction to what type of work that will be done in Long Term 3. The first 2 songs in this album should shock you the most because it doesnt seem like it fits with the rest of the project and he did do this on purpose so yall can realize that Soul hasnt "sold out"or change for the worst and is just growing just like a rapper should be trying to do to get better. As soon as you hit Hunnid Stax maybe you should look at the title of the album again and let it sink in. Titles are very important and overlooked by many. So if your going to critique any album or project as a whole look at the title first, then give it a listen without much analyzing. Then look at all the songs and see how they correlate to the title or how they dont. My point im trying to make is to not overlook the title of the album and jump in the songs because if your lost of what this album is trying to say or its purpose simply just look at the title. Your answers will probably be answered 9/10.Titles give you the insight of the bigger picture of everything. Lets take it past music. You read an article online and the title is called "10 most important mind hacks to know" .The article will be most likely related to the title. See what i mean?

    • @YBPxAssassin
      @YBPxAssassin 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can get the point of the project and still not like it, that is perfectly fine. My comment above is just for the people who think this sucked because its way different from all his other projects. Every album tells a story. He's making another long term soon. That is 3 similar stories. Control System has a different story than these days and the long terms. Just like all stories your not gonna them all but i like the ones that Soul has made so far and im not disappointed at all.

    Honestly, when I first heard this shit I was like it's okay. But honestly, I went back to it and I'm completely in love. There's a lot of substance here. For a sacrifice, satire album it's fucking amazing. But honestly what made me come back is the fact that EVERY SINGLE LINE in Kitty Flip is a hard ass bar. I've given up on 2016 in every aspect, just waiting for the new Soulo project.

    • @quixxx05
      @quixxx05 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      scipio2009 i hear you, but it is so.ewhat satire, because he is copying/mocking rap these days and using other rappers style bests and flows while shitting on them.

    • @scipio2009
      @scipio2009 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      quixxx05 ... except that he's not though. Though he's using current sounds (basically what any rap fan would've been hearing since Control System was released), the content is still trying to hip folks to what's up.
      The man is mixing honey in the medicine, imo.

      Because this isn't what music is these days. Sure it is if you listen to crap. But I never listen to rick ross (couldn't even name a song), or any rapper like that. I only listen to underground independent hip hop and these days things are a lot different with the popularity of independent hip hop. I think solo should of kept the album title but went hard as fuck like he did on control system to be like "these days, things are different, I'm taking over"

    Yall are tripping hating on this album Absoul way more intellegent and interesting then most rappers on this album. I thinlk a lot of y'all just aren't smart enough to hang. He has the same interesting bits of nerdy knowledge throughout the whole album. This album flows way better musically than control system. He has a lot of the same vibes just better production and why should it be exactly like the last album then he would be stuck and people would label him. This way he alows himself the ability to switch it up. look at all the tracks that are dope yall crazy

    Think of it like this God is infinite. Infinite in mathematics is 1/0, meaning something exists when nothing exists. That means that he has no dependency, there need be no conditions for Him to live. That also means that God has no limits, no beginning, no end.
    His essence and being are one and the same, unlike the Universe and matter which basically has celestial bodies, deriving essence and existence from greater essences and existences. Look at us, we get our existence from the earth every element in our bodies come from it, and it from the solar system, and that from the milky way and so forth. But it ends with God His essence and existence are the SAME. So he can be here in spirit, which is fine, or be here with his being, but infinite energy would destroy the universe and He doesn't want that (I don't think any of us would).
    Also, like I said He is infinite in every sense of the word. How can there be knowledge for example, if God was the only being at one time that only existed? He must be the original infinite knowledge, strength, wisdom, independant, good all those traits. Also some side notes, can there be something greater than infinite? No. What if I offered you infinite chocolate bars, great right. What if I gave you infinite chocolate +3, the fact that there is a +3 is contradictory because the infinite will never end. Can there be more than one God? No, because logically He is omnipotence, all-powerful. If you have another being that is all-powerful neither can be all-powerful, they cancel each other out. Two beings have two wills, one god might have an opinion on a topic, and the other has a different opinion on that topic and one would have to forfeit. Your god(s) would be powerless in that situation. See what I mean.
    Anyone who reads this big ups to you, I hope you find the peace you seek, God is one. We all know. I just made it more apparent, and try to help you like he helped me, more times than I can recollect. Monotheism all the way, God>Everything that's the way it is, don't let materialism, propaganda, media, and people's doubts and insecurities deter you from the truth.

      This is probably not relevant, but 1/0 is actually undefined. If you look at the basic axioms that numbers are constructed from it just doesn't mean anything. Like "turquoise somersault" or Gh^^%DC. It's just meaningless symbols. Look up Michael Spivak's "Calculus" if you're interested.
      And there are some infinities that are bigger than others. The mathematician who discovered this spent the rest of his life trying to catalogue all the different infinities because he thought it would reveal God's essence. Look up George Cantor. I think he lost his mind and died in an insane asylum.

    • @banderlands
      @banderlands 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      jeremy diesel yeah its good bro, was vibing more with control sysem. But like he said he's growing as an artist so I like that, I'm excited to see what else he comes out with

    • @banderlands
      @banderlands 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phelan Jackson thanks for your input and yeah it is undefined, but as the denominator does approach 0 the overall value closer to infinity. so I take it rather literally I didn't try to define it I just tried to realize it. I see how it could be interpreted as a symbol.
      But I believe that symbols carry meaning with them, I mean people use them all the time to explain things. If I'm in school I might say subconsciously "this class is taking forever" where forever would be a symbol, used to explain the longest perceivable time.
      I looked up George Cantor, one of his issues was with his colleagues unrest with his works, and their criticism weighed on him even from his younger years. He wasn't in a society that supported his theories he was rejected by intiutionists and finitists (obviously), but also by Christians and neo-thomist thinkers and that's why he faced depression he had no one's support.
      Their arguments were that 'mathematical entities cannot be reduced to logical propositions, originating instead in the intuitions of the mind. Secondly, the notion of infinity as an expression of reality is itself disallowed in intuitionism, since the human mind cannot intuitively construct an infinite set', what they're really saying is we cannot understand math, and infinity is incomprehensible in reality, which it kind of isn't.
      He did work on infinite sets and separated them into denumerable (or countably infinite) sets and UNCOUNTABLE sets. The way I look at it, if you were count to infinity you might start counting: 1,2,3,4 but you wouldn't count all the way to infinity people usually put '...' for what they can't count and then say infinity.
      Later on the sudden death of his son, and the public criticism of Julius Konig sent him over the edge. All the meanwhile he MOMENTARILY QUESTIONED God's existence. I don't think the problem was God, but his life trials.
      Michael Spivak, I watched his lecture on differential equiations? That was the one I saw and he talks about that really briefly, he mentioned that the value when x = 0, or undefined in the denominator doesn't have to follow the rules of the function meaning as it approaches the origin it could enter from one point and leave through another point, meaning it is unpredictable.

    I think the concept of this album was to show where he is at compared to where he was, also with a little satirical mix of the music we hear these days, he dropped a good amount of gems in a trendy way, which is actually pretty impressive, maybe that's why he's Jesus, he's gonna take a lot of criticism for this album, but its going to be appreciated in the future, just my theory on this

      not everyone woke up with Control System, though; God's Reign and Tree of Life sound exactly like stuff that you could've expected on Control System. From the second half of Tree of Life on, he acknowledges the world that he's facing and imo, he goes back in to try and wake some more folks up (with sounds that they've already grown used to hearing during the time since Control System).

    Such a beautiful piece of art. I remember when i first heard this i would've 360 no-scoped it into the trash bin and cursed Ab for straying away from his Control System shit.
    However you learn that artists have a limit as to what they can say and as Ab said, revisiting Control System would be kind of "ill". However, now i find myself visiting These Days more often than Control System. This album is so good. It's like Ab isn't straightforward with his concepts, he kind of just lets the songs do the explaining themselves (if that makes sense). His mixing techniques aren't random, if you just flow with the song it'll pull you in when it wants to convey something.
    No one can piece a song together quite like Ab-Soul (DWTW is a great example of the musical ability of YMF)

      Wale Onakomaya he quotes drake in a silly way on just have fun, then has a skit where a guy is talking like drake and his name is jimmy which was drakes name on degrassi. Then he raps the same flow as drake did on versace remix and used the no new friends line. Again he is using drakes flow but is showing better lyrics and skill. On twact he raps just like Wayne. Just like him, even says the long hair don't care line lol. And in Never mind that, the whole song is saying don't listen to the lyrics just move your body, cause that's what people do. Then when rick ross says fuck niggas im hot, ab soul says nevermind that just move your body. Finally after dissing drake he let's Kendrick rap and then explains on stigmata how he sacrificed his album to save music. Which is what Jesus did for all people. I don't agree with him comparing himself to Jesus but im just pointing out that the album was satire and he has his real album LT3 coming out in December
