  • Artificial Intelligence. It seems like AI today is the dot com bubble all over again. If you're building a startup today, you're going to find it hard to avoid AI and how it applies to the solution you're building. To me, it reminds me of what we went through during the dot com bubble and the dotcom bust.
But I think the fact that AI is the dot com bubble all over again is a good thing.

So... treat it the same as everything else I've come across. Got it.

Rick, your strategic perspective is spot on, IMO, and for me, perfectly timed!

I 100% align with much of this. Sadly companies like Rabbit and AI pin may cause investors to be a bit skeptical moving forward. Definitely an exciting time rn.

Yeah. Agreed. The whole hardware angle is a tough sell. It’s like the Web only devices from the dot com days. Everything old is new again 😂

Spot on. Peak technology is invisible. It's a tool you use without being aware you're using it. Like the web now. With AI, we're in the "Hey, Ma! Lookit what I can do!" phase. I love your message of just exploring and figuring out how to use this new thing. I'm working on AI for Hinge Health and we're pretty level headed about it and it's easy to want to pump the brakes.

Love this. I always think of it in the context of business. When a business has an "[x] strategy" it's likely not reached that level of invisibility. For example, we used to have a "Web strategy." Now it's just part of strategy in general.

I love this opportunity to try stupid shit with ai. Especially when it allows smaller companies and independent users taking risks and trying things they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.

Agree. These times when things are new generally mean that no one knows what they're doing. Nor do they have the ability to do it terribly well. At least at the outset. It's a great equalizer for smaller more risk tolerant folks.
