Thanks for your video! Lately I've been composing a lot on a groovebox that doesn't have a sidechain. Super annoying! so I manage by avoiding putting the bass on the steps of the kick, or by reducing its volume on the step sequencer... But nothing's better than a sidechain 😁
To be honest Shield, I still to this day don’t use side chaining. I keep saying that if you do it well, you don’t have to. Just make sure that the kick and bass both have enough upper and distinct transients so you can easily hear them apart from each other!
That rave sound still hits. If you asked me a decade ago if I thought rave music would still hit as hard, I would not have been so certain. The dark rave scene, plus the influences of dnb, melodic techno, post dubstep, industrial and hiphop are awesome. I watched a live set from Excision recently. LostLands2021 or 2022...and damn, that rave sound is still just as prevalent as always. Rave is an influence in the "heavy metal" of electronic music...in my opinion atleast.
I think because the new gen are jumping on it again. Have you watched any of Reinier Zonneveld’s sets? He’s bringing a 909 and is going full monty. That was something I also didn’t think 🤔 was ever going to happen…
