Its almost 20 years later and I've never felt more helpless watching a game. The look on Kirk's face was how we all felt. That Ohio State team was loaded (8 players on that team in the 1st round) and you blew us out. Anyone that didn't rank Penn State as #1 at seasons end should have been forced to watch this game. I've never seen a better display of a RB reading his blocks than Ki-Jana did that day. It was a thing of beauty. I would have loved to seen you guys play Nebraska that year.
As a Penn State alum, that '94 season still makes me so angry. Everyone knew we were the best team in college football and Nebraska was afraid to play us.
As a Buckeye fan, this game is a nightmare! I've never seen Ohio State so owned, not even in the NC game against Florida. Penn State was definitely robbed of the National Championship that year. I hope Penn State comes back strong. The Big Ten is better when them, OSU and Michigan are strong.
My nits got screwed this year....we were the best team in the nation....Our offense was unstoppable...Still love watching Ki-Jana run over everyone....
And Tom Osborne was a piece of shit as well!!! Him and Joe always got along and he said we are not going to lobby for votes, and after the Orange bowl which was the night before our Nittany Lions played in the Rose bowl, Osborne said, Penn State is a great team, but I have been so close and at least give my boys this one, we proved it tonight!!! Lol Disgusting, Paterno never lobbied for votes in all his 6 undefeated seasons at all!!! He even told president Nixon in the 68 season which they were undefeated and gave it to Texas, Nixon called Joe and wanted to congratulate his team and give a consolation trophy and Joe said stick it up your ass!!!! Lol
Penn State wouldn't have lost to Miami, probably about as much as we did in 86 national title game against Miami? 5 interceptions against the heisman winner Testaverde!!!! Yeah, we have had some of the best teams in the history of college football, period!!!
Shit defense, my ass!!!!!!! They scored so fuckin fast that are defense was on the field all damn day!!! When the defense needed to stop Michigan, Brian Miller the All-american picked a pass, when they need them amazing linebackers and defensive line make a huge play, they did!!! That is called bend but don't break defense my friend!!!! 🖒
Not in wildest dreams or imagination!!! Nobody, and I mean nobody had a prayer on God's green earth of stopping the most explosive and balanced offense of that era or any era actually!!! Have a good one
PSU deserved #1 in one of the polls, 17 years later we're still arguing about a +1 playoff. I'm sure Nebraska wanted a shot at Penn State just as much as Penn State wanted a shot at them. It would have been a game of equal caliber to USC vs. Texas in 2005.
Watched this one w/some good friends, a family of faithful Buckeye supporters in Jonesboro, GA. Good times. My friends were concerned about OSU's new place in the Big 10 pecking order. While those fears were unrealized, it was a great day, (and season), to be a Nittany Lion fan.
OSU's punter was their player of the game LMAO! Wow Kirk Herbstreit said the same thing last night during the PSU vs OSU game that the 1994 PSU offense was still the greatest offense he had ever seen. Their defense was pretty good too. Underrated and unrecognized as national champions.
That intro never gets old as a Penn State fan. Even though I was -8 years old when that came out, I still hum that before games during warm-ups. Our fans are the best in College Football, and we have fun every gameday. #WEARE
@dpinzow So what I'm saying is 1994 Nebraska vs Penn State would have been a game for the ages. The '94 Nittany Lions might be the greatest team to not win so much as a piece of the national title. Nebraska flat out had a terrific defense, better than Illinois. Their offense struggled with injuries. Your defense struggled when it had injuries. Both still won. Both had days where they were pushed to the limit and nothing went their way, and still won.
I remember this game. I was a PSU Senior, had to work that day so ended up watching the game in a bar downtown State College. They literally scored AT WILL. I couldn't keep up!
Still can’t comprehend how that team went undefeated and didn’t get the natty. They literally dropped to number 2 after this game and never went back up
Nebraska was an absolute animal that year but still think we could've beat them. Sometimes a team just has that thing with them and PSU had that thing with them in 94.
I was at this game with my dad. I was 14 and he took me to his old frat house after the game, pretty fucking cool. Anyways, how Penn State didn't get at least a share of the National Title is beyond me.
Ohio State might have owned Penn State for the next 15 years but not once in those games did Ohio State score 63 points! 1994 Penn State team no doubt the best in the country...!
Thanks for this! This was actually a reasonably close game through the 1st quarter, but OSU lost star RB Eddie George to injury during their second possession and didn't have the firepower after that to keep up with the '95 PSU offense, which was one of the greatest scoring machines in modern college football history.
@mongoose704 I think we got a small taste of that in the final 3 quarters of the Illini game. But I think the fact that Ohio State's mighty offense only managed six first downs against the first team defense in the first half really says something.
Yep...OSU had one of the best defenses in the country and were ranked 18...shows how good this PSU team was, and this PSU team would have handled this years OSU team pretty easily...
@mongoose704 Yep, the fact that Penn State put up 35 on that defense is just amazing. So many forget how good that Illini defense is. Did you know that if they weren't unlucky they could have contended for a Rose Bowl berth? Best five-loss team EVER. But I think PSU could've scored 100 on Minnesota, 80 on Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State, 70 on Northwestern, 60 on Temple, 50 on Indiana, USC, Oregon, 40 on Michigan, etc. Only team where PSU could've maybe gotten only one more score was Illinois.
Still the best college offense I've ever seen. Injuries made their defense average at best late in the season, or they could have rolled even Nebraska imo. Both teams lost key players to injury and kept winning regardless. It would have been a great game, and one we were deprived of.
@MVillani1985 Our Hawkeyes felt a bit better after this game. We only lost 61-21! Moral victory for us, lol. I remember before the game Hayden Fry said the best scheme he could find to shut down your offense was to cancel the game. Good grief was he right. I honestly felt you could have scored every posession if you wished. We actually outgained you and got 455 yards but you collected 4 turnovers and blocked a punt. Classic bend don't break PSU defense against a decent offense.
If my memory serves me right. even though we blew Ohio state out we dropped a spot in the rankings the next day when Nebraska beat Missouri by 3 points.
@mongoose704 I think PSU had a great offense that year, best offense I'd ever seen, but so many forget how good the defense and special teams really were, but the backups on both sides played the second half of most games. Best example I can think of is Illinois getting a 21-0 lead from dumb mistakes, and then PSU's defense shuts down an underrated Illinois offense to come back to win 35-31. Imagine how many points PSU could have scored on everyone that year if JoePa wasn't such a sportsman.
As a Buckeye fan all I can say about the last tag in the vid is: You can have your 63-point game; we owned you for the next 15-years. ;-) Seriously though, that was a great PSU team, and you did get screwed out of an NC. Say what would like about the BCS, but if it existed then, you'd be in the NC game. PSU versus NU. Could had been a great game.
My Nittany Lions got screwed!!! This was the best all around offense in the history of college football, fact!!! They ran an I backfield and two receivers and the best offensive line in the land, the points that we put up that year and didn't even need a West coast spread high definition RPO bullshit that is going on now days!!! Vegas had them a 7 point favorite if they would have played Nebraska? Joe got screwed out of more national titles than anyone else can ever think of in his career!!! Disgusting
@mrodgers24 What? Did you actually watch the Rose Bowl? PSU's defense trucked the "Quack Attack offense, held them to 2 TD's while PSU put up 38 points on the vaunted "Gang Green" defense, and then Oregon scored a last minute TD that was meaningless to the outcome. Gimme a break, that "D" played like total champs in the Rose Bowl. And Joe took out the starters in the games you mentioned, and 2nd and 3rd team guys played, that's why those teams scored meaningless TD's after the games were decided
Wow what a game i sold my 2 tickets to 2 co-workers and told them i would find a ticket for the game 5 mins before the game i bought a ticket off of a former penn state player it was a sideline pass i walked on the sideline with the former players and watched the game from the sidelines are you kidding me once in a life time to watch the game from the side lines!
I remember I had just started working in my first real job after college and I had two coworkers - one was a OSU fan and the other a PSU fan. We all watched this game at one of their apartments. What happened to the last 23 years?
@strongman80 I agree that PSU would've beat Nebraska but I don't think it would have been a wipeout, I think it'd be like the 1994 Illinois game. Nebraska was pretty similar to 1994 Illinois but with a slightly better offense. One thing people forget about 1994 Penn State is that the defense was not flimsy, the starters just sat in the second half (for example PSU led 55-0 over Rutgers midway through the third quarter before allowing garbage time TDs in the final 20 minutes).
I disagree about that Penn State defense. It struggled late in the year because it was decimated by injuries. That's why Illinois, Michigan State, and Oregon all put 20+ points on us late in the year.
Our defense was very good that year!! What people need to realize is our defense was on the field all the time in a good way though, because our offense scored in an average of 1:57 seconds after the whole year was said and done!!! Unbelievable
@dpinzow Nebraska's defense absolutely smothered the high powered Colorado Buffalo offense that scored 439 points on the season. Colorado averaged about 40 points per game other than that Nebraska game. They managed 7 measly points. Colorado had Kordell Stewart, Michael Westbrook, Rashaan Salaam and Christian Fauria on offense. Oh Nebraska had a lucky week. Their 2nd string QB was healthy and able to start. Man it's just fun to think about "what if."
Penn State can thank the Big 10 and their insistence that the Rose Bowl was more important than a Bowl Coalition national championship game. No real sympathy for PSU or later Michigan as NU was willing to man up and play the best team available. The Big 10 and PAC 10 finally woke up after the split Michigan / Nebraska title which gave us the BCS. Despite its faults, the BCS was far superior to the Bowl Coalition.
First off, I'm not a kid. Secondly if you read my comments closely, you will see that I agree with you. I acknowledge that JoePA put in the underclassmen in that game. That is what I meant by PSU scrubs. And when I said that Nebraska would have had their asses handed to them, I mean the would have recieved a Penn State beatdown. I suggest you read things carefully before you start blasting people.
I was at the IU game, the pollsters dropped PSU to number two because they didn’t beat IU by enough. PSU was up big and the reserves gave up some garbage time scores… What a shame they couldn’t have played Nebraska
Penn State only had to play their starters all the way to the end in 3 games (@ Illinois, @ Michigan, and the rose bowl). Just a force of nature...all the rest of the games were over at halftime Nebraska trailed Wyoming! at the half, struggled mightily against K-State, led Iowa St. (perhaps the worst team in CFB in 1994) 14-12 after 3 quarters and scraped by with a 13-3 debacle against an Oklahoma team that would have been lucky to win 2 games in 1994's Big Ten
All you have to know is every writer in Ohio and Michigan who voted in the AP poll voted for Nebraska. The idea that Penn State could come into the Big 10 and in their 2nd year as a conference member run the table was too much for them to handle. SMH.
@mongoose704 Nebraska had a good defense, comparable to the Illinois defense, but unlike Illinois, they had a decent offense to go with it. They won a stubborn defensive struggle against Colorado but most importantly shut them down. IMO the 1994 Buffaloes are comparable to the 1994 Buckeyes, loads of NFL talent but couldn't have competed with Nebraska or Penn State. But one thing people forget is just how good PSU's defense was, the starters just didn't play for the second half usually.
@dpinzow Actually, the backups played one series at the end of the Rose Bowl, but overall you're right. Illinois was really underrated BTW, best 7-5 team of the 90s IMO. All of their losses were close and all but one win (over Ohio State) was a total blowout. Michigan was weird since PSU had a big lead early. People underestimate PSU's defense too, for example they say we gave up 27 to Rutgers beating them 55-27, but they forget that we led 55-0 midway through the 3rd quarter.
Actually they got fucked after the Indiana game. They where dropped from #1 to #2 after that game because PSU's scrubs let up a couple of touchdowns in the final minutes of the game. The most blatant tragedy of College football in the last 20 years. Nebraska would have had their asses handed to them.
@dpinzow In Nebraska's defense they were playing their third string QB for part of the season (K-State game included.) Don't underestimate them. With Frazier and Phillips playing for only two quarters against Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis and the #1 scoring and yardage defense, they steamrolled Miami in the 4th quarter and put them on oxygen. Nebraska's equally good defense would have kept them undefeated in the Big Ten...until a showdown with Penn State. We were robbed of a game for the ages.
@MVillani1985 If Joe Pa wasn't a sportsman and ran it up ala Bobby Stoops, you and not Oklahoma would hold the NCAA scoring record. Don't forget that Illinois team had Simeon Rice, Kevin Hardy, Dana Howard and a host of other all conference and all american players on the then nations #1 defense.
My Nittany Lions got screwed!!! Best team in nation hands down, if Joe wouldn't have had mercy at Indiana and pulled starters out, and late td passes that stupid voters who only look at the final score we would have stayed number 1 in the country!!!
@dpinzow Every team has a tough game. You had a tough game against Illinois. Only one of those games you listed were close at the end. Nebraska was also down to their 3rd string QB and RB during that stretch and run first offenses typically start slow. K State was #16 and on the road. They smothered #2 Colorado. Destroyed #13 UCLA and #24 West Virginia. Came from behind at #3 Miami with two of their best players sidelined. Penn State beat 3 ranked teams.
Typical schmuckeye delusion. You owned us for 15 years? Hardly. As a matter of fact, I remember some PSU wins that embarrassed Ohio State pretty good during the last 15 years. Like last year, you got off easy since our offense struggled all year. Should've beat you 31-10, but we couldn't score in the red zone. Of course, we've been a bit distracted since last Nov. But this game was an old fashioned shellacking. A complete embarrassment of OSU by an obviously superior Penn State team.
Most retarded thing I've ever heard of. Too bad you guys are complete SHIT compared to us all time and you haven't beaten us in years. We have the edge in the rivalry and definitely in everything else such as nation championships, all time record, bowl games, bowl game wins, heismans, all Americans, weeks in the A.P poll, and weeks at #1. Go buckeyes. 2015 National champions.
Ryan Kopcial Ryan, I am assuming you know football. Do you really want to compare the 1994 OSU defense to the 2013 PSU defense. You really want to do that? Maybe you can console yourself with the fact that our 63-14 win led to an undefeated season that got us voted out of the national championship. LOL Yeah, we are so happy to be in the Big Two....urrr I mean the B10.
OSU is 16-8 against PSU and completely outclassess PSU in everything, and by everything I mean everything. Total wins, National Championships, Heismans, weeks in the A.P poll, weeks at #1, bowl games, ect ect ect
LMFAO. You guys! Notice in the post that you replied too that I gave “;-)” and then started off the next graft with “seriously.” Those are indication that I'm joking with you; light ribbing between too groups of passionate fans. I dream of the day when people don't take games so seriously. “Typical schmuckeye delusion?” You really think that different fans are different types of people? Sorry, but we are pretty much the same. Best of luck.
@BassAssassin9 Bumbling buffoon nepotism? WTF? You obiviously don't stay up on the recruiting do you? Do you realise that 60% of this past season's squad were underclassman, and we played the entire season with injuries on both sides of the line and with two talented but young QB's that were trying to find their rhythm. Why don't you check out rivals.com and see this years recruits that are coming in, and also the 2012 recruits that are leaning our way. Might shed some light son..:)
So it doesn't bother PSU fans in the least that this all occurred under the regime of an insatiable child rapist? I'm not blaming the players mind you, but how can you possibly obfuscate the fact that the defense was largely born of a sick maniacs coaching? It's like everyone out there wants to pretend like that elephant isn't even inside the room when discussing all teams even indirectly attached to Sandusky.
As a Penn State fan, mad respect to you brotha
PSU was robbed often of NC during my now long lifetime.
Amen
This game shows that Penn State had a better than advertised defense.
My nits got screwed this year....we were the best team in the nation....Our offense was unstoppable...Still love watching Ki-Jana run over everyone....
So great to have a dominating O Line
I was there, It was absolutely UNBELIEVABLE. It is a crime that Penn State was not ranked number I at the end of the season!
What is even more amazing is that the writers dropped the Lions down to second after this which allowed nebraska to move up.
It was a bunch of BS but the writers would have knocked down Penn State to #2 after the close game with Illinois later that season
As a neutral fan that game would have been epic
Let's just be brutally honest and admit that Nebraska was too afraid to play Penn State in a title game
Watched this one w/some good friends, a family of faithful Buckeye supporters in Jonesboro, GA. Good times. My friends were concerned about OSU's new place in the Big 10 pecking order. While those fears were unrealized, it was a great day, (and season), to be a Nittany Lion fan.

an incredible offense. i'm not really a psu fan, and i'm still mad about their getting snubbed.
This is all the more staggering a win given that Ohio State was a decent team that year- 9-4 and made the Citrus Bowl with Joey Harrington.
National Championship Game:
PSU 62
Nebraska 21
@dpinzow So what I'm saying is 1994 Nebraska vs Penn State would have been a game for the ages. The '94 Nittany Lions might be the greatest team to not win so much as a piece of the national title. PSU beat them so badly I almost felt sorry for OSU. PSU had a great offensive team in Kerry Collins-KiJana Carter era
I remember this game. I was a PSU Senior, had to work that day so ended up watching the game in a bar downtown State College. They literally scored AT WILL. I couldn't keep up!
I don’t care how it turned out....PSU were co national champs...and everybody knows it.
The Best College offense I’ve ever seen. We would have decimated Nebraska or any one else for that matter!
I don't think I could ever watch this video enough.....well done.
OSU fan here, but PSU demolished us. I never seen the Buckeyes get humiliated that like. Ever.
Recently? Clemson, Iowa, and Purdue. -OSU '97
still the best offense ive ever seen.
Still can’t comprehend how that team went undefeated and didn’t get the natty. They literally dropped to number 2 after this game and never went back up
What a great day. Penn State owned it from top to bottom.
Nebraska was an absolute animal that year but still think we could've beat them. Sometimes a team just has that thing with them and PSU had that thing with them in 94.
Ki-Jana ran all over them this game!!!! Our offense was so scary great and balanced 👏!!!!!!

They did now in 2013! 63-14 OSU.

psu vs nebraska in the championship would be beaassssssssssssst
go to 3:55 and you will find dumbfounded Ohio state DBs
Sadly Carter's career died in Cincinnati.
Still the best college offense I've ever seen. Injuries made their defense average at best late in the season, or they could have rolled even Nebraska imo. Both teams lost key players to injury and kept winning regardless. It would have been a great game, and one we were deprived of.
Jeff Perry is my uncle!! He played TE too!

The crazy part? Ohio State thought they could actually win this game. What a beat down.

8:31 Herbie never aged.
Agree! I say that all the time! 27 years later and he still looks like a 30 year old. I think he is 53 years of age.
I truly believe this Penn State team smokes Nebraska had they play each other.
best college football team ever and its a shame they didnt even win a national title
And after this beat down of OSU (not a Temple) the polls dropped them from #1 to#2. Humm!
1994 Nittany Lions. Best Big Ten team in last 25yrs.
As a Buckeye fan all I can say about the last tag in the vid is: You can have your 63-point game; we owned you for the next 15-years. ;-)
Seriously though, that was a great PSU team, and you did get screwed out of an NC. Say what would like about the BCS, but if it existed then, you'd be in the NC game. PSU versus NU. Could had been a great game.
you know your team played horrible when your punter gets player of the game

Penn State would proceed to get bumped down to #2 in the polls right after this game. What a scam.
I remember I had just started working in my first real job after college and I had two coworkers - one was a OSU fan and the other a PSU fan. We all watched this game at one of their apartments. What happened to the last 23 years?

8:10: If I'm not mistaken, this is the first of approximately 8 billion pick sixes in the Penn State-Ohio State rivalry.
Those were THEE days
I know the center from penn state!!!!
as a ohio state fan i agree penn state was robbed of the natinal title
I disagree about that Penn State defense. It struggled late in the year because it was decimated by injuries. That's why Illinois, Michigan State, and Oregon all put 20+ points on us late in the year.

Indiana also put over 20 points on PSU late in the year, but that game was because we took our starters out and they scored two late TDs.
I was at the IU game, the pollsters dropped PSU to number two because they didn’t beat IU by enough. PSU was up big and the reserves gave up some garbage time scores… What a shame they couldn’t have played Nebraska
Ohio State was methodically destroyed. That had to be one of the best Penn State Teams of all-times. They were incredible.
Penn State only had to play their starters all the way to the end in 3 games (@ Illinois, @ Michigan, and the rose bowl). Just a force of nature...all the rest of the games were over at halftime
Nebraska trailed Wyoming! at the half, struggled mightily against K-State, led Iowa St. (perhaps the worst team in CFB in 1994) 14-12 after 3 quarters and scraped by with a 13-3 debacle against an Oklahoma team that would have been lucky to win 2 games in 1994's Big Ten
Michigan Penn state was a 4th qtr game.
I was there with my dad and we were like this seals the deal for #1 lol. Fucking politics from the ranking voters screwed us!
Please, someone tell me what the song at the beginning of the broadcast is! I can't find any trace of it anywhere.
Ive been googling the lyrics and I cant find it anywhere. It should be played every saturday!
Michigan was at least competitive against psu in 1994
What’s the song at the beginning? Sounds like a Penn state spirit song.
Anyone know the song that plays in the beginning of the video?
@MVillani1985 Of course how would their defensive stats look with their 1st teamers in and playing as intense as they would in a 10-10 game?
Guess you could say we got a little revenge last night.
Was OSU ranked for this game? The 2013 PSU team was a depleted, less than mediocre team at best.
My Nittany Lions got screwed!!! Best team in nation hands down, if Joe wouldn't have had mercy at Indiana and pulled starters out, and late td passes that stupid voters who only look at the final score we would have stayed number 1 in the country!!!
Am I the only who continuously returns to this video to see if anyone knows what the opening song is? Haha
Blasphemous that this team didn't even get a share of the national title. 12-0 in a power 5 conference.
Owned PSU for the next 15 years? You must be deluded! Sounds like deluded Buckeye bragadoccio.
2022 buckeyes win 44-31, win 7 straight
Typical schmuckeye delusion. You owned us for 15 years? Hardly. As a matter of fact, I remember some PSU wins that embarrassed Ohio State pretty good during the last 15 years. Like last year, you got off easy since our offense struggled all year. Should've beat you 31-10, but we couldn't score in the red zone. Of course, we've been a bit distracted since last Nov. But this game was an old fashioned shellacking. A complete embarrassment of OSU by an obviously superior Penn State team.
Might need to delete this in light of recent history. LOL
Best college team ever.
Besides didn't we beat you like 63-14 last year too?!
Penn state is nothing compared to OSU all time
OSU is 16-8 against PSU and completely outclassess PSU in everything, and by everything I mean everything. Total wins, National Championships, Heismans, weeks in the A.P poll, weeks at #1, bowl games, ect ect ect
Please somebody tell me where to find that introductory song!!!
Did you ever find the name of that song?? What is it?
2005, 2008, 2011...........
Josh Redcay 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 (same score as this game but reversed) 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018
@@osubucknut100 games usually closer than annual blow out against Michigan.
LMFAO.
God we got scammed of a natty
@BassAssassin9 Bumbling buffoon nepotism? WTF? You obiviously don't stay up on the recruiting do you? Do you realise that 60% of this past season's squad were underclassman, and we played the entire season with injuries on both sides of the line and with two talented but young QB's that were trying to find their rhythm. Why don't you check out rivals.com and see this years recruits that are coming in, and also the 2012 recruits that are leaning our way. Might shed some light son..:)
These were the good old days. I miss this. Now we've fallen to the point of losing to crap teams like Indiana and UCF.
You think UCF was a crap team last year? I'll give you Indiana but not UCF.
Joe Knew, you jagoffs!
Now THAT, is an ugly football stadium. Don't tell me it's not, it just is!
