I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the 80's. The year before I started a young woman named Donna Mraz was brutally murdered on campus in the shadow of Camp Randall (football stadium). I still remember her name after all these years. Her case was never solved.😢
Back then assault against women was no big deal. Its only been over the past twenty years that's its recognized as a crime. And reports were not taken seriously unless a man reports it...

I think they have just gotten better about protecting themselves. Like more lawyers. The sad reality is that in the end they don't care about the students or their wellbeing, they care about their image.
My university has an escort service that works well. Any female student can call Campus DPS for one during the hours of 6:30 p.m. through 6:30 a.m. They will pick you up if it’s a long way away from your dorm or sorority house or just walk with you to a shorter distance. I worked the graveyard shift at the campus radio station. I could drive there, but the station would also be deserted. My escort would pick me up, drive me to the station and walk me to the door. It’s a great service. The escorts are thoroughly vetted and are pleasant young men.
When I saw this was 30 minutes long and only 2 cases I got SO EXCITED! I love when you go into detail on cases! Even when you cover cases I already know about you usually do it with such detail that I still learn something new! You're the best!

I don't get what the first murder and the other one four months later (3:00) have in common. One was kidnapped from a public place and left strangled, fully clothed. The other was killed in her own apartment, nude except a sweater, stabbed and beaten. The only thing they seem to have in common is that they're both women.
Im currently getting my doctorate in criminal psychology science. It's very sad but most serial killers will proform different acts of killing in the beginning when they first start killing, before they figure out what they enjoy most. Could be someone who started out as a peeper or burglar and made the leap to killing which is why you see 2 different kinds of killings. He's figuring himself out. (This is also why most serial killers kill animals first they're figuring out what kind of killing they enjoy most) once they figure themselves out then they'll stick to that and then a pattern will begin. It's incredibly sad and disturbing how their mind works

No, I didn't. One of them was a university student. He didn't say the other one was. I get that by hanging out at a university bar the killer might think she's a student but, to be fair, he never says she's a student. Oddly there is no photo of the second victim, so we don't really know if they looked similar. The video does say the motive was similar, but never specifies what that motive is. It wasn't rape for the first girl. It doesn't say if the second girl was raped, but she was found naked. I don't know, it still seems to me like it wasn't the same person. I'm sure we'll probably never know.
What threw me is the narration twice mentions of the cases being four months apart. They actually are five years and four months apart, going by the dates given here. Adele Komorowski was murdered outside her dorm in May, 1973; Gail Ryan in her apartment in September, 1978.
It's so sad that even though someone witnessed Adele being taken and campus security was quick to show up that none of this helped save her life. Goes to show that victims are murdered quickly after abduction so the old police policy of waiting 24 hours to report a missing person is the worst thing you can do. Thankfully that thought process has changed and we now know the sooner something is reported the better.
