Add long walled off corridor, add a useless hill, add a killing field and lastly add lots of cluttering view obscuring stone walls. and you have a WOT map. There is very little difference between the maps. There are nearly 700 possible tanks in the game to play on the same 4-5 maps doing the exact same thing every single game. Maps specifically designed with spots for specific tanks and to keep players directly in front of each other. When and if you so happen to chose to be in a spot not deemed for your tank or class then you verbally and physically abused. They game is built around a linear map protocols and stat based game play. Absolutely no team work. How can you classify a WOT a team game when capping is not the top reward in the game vs how much you can spot or how much damage other do to what you spot or how many shots you can bounce.
Couse there is pool of 5-6 maps that changes like twice maybe three times a day. So if you have like gaming session for two hours you play only this 5-6 maps
el halluf the absolute worst map in the game. a map where 80% of all players in a game end up at one spot on the map. I seriously dont understand why WG just doesn't spawn us into our designated locations.
Mines: I want to ban it based on the gameplay, but it's a simple map that I can always perform well on. Banning it doesn't work either because I have all game modes enabled and map bans only apply to Standard, not Encounter or Assault. Airfield: I've kept it banned since day 1 of map bans. I hate team dependent maps. Airfield is pushable, but not early and you really have to time it right. I unbanned it recently due to Mountain Pass rework. Overlord: I want to like Overlord, but the beach push makes the experience too dependent on your team. I think Overlord is easier to throw in the first minute than Airfield, so I kept Overlord banned. Mountain Pass: I used to like this map but WG ruined it and the numbers don't lie. Check tomato gg map win rates. 7% WR differential in favor of Southeast spawn. Statistically, reworked Mountain Pass is the least balanced map ever created. Berlin: if I had a third ban I would use it here. I banned Berlin day 1 until it was reworked and I hate how games play out. Too many useless areas, middle is no man's land, highly team dependent. MM sucks at balancing heavies so city gets awful quick when you're a FCM50t trying to counter a BZ-176. Special mention: Oyster Bay. The rework didn't address the inability to push anything but the heavy line. Garbage map for lights since all the TD spots require you to overextend. I would ban about half the maps in this game if I could. Maps are a huge weakness for WoT.
I am actually that weirdo who actually likes Empire Border. I don't know if it is intentional or not, but the whole point of the map is that it seems like a mirror map, but actually definitely isn't. Both sides have sides where they are much stronger, but they can't win everything by winning that place alone. It is about winning the flank that you are strong at, and then you switch and counter attack your weak flank. Or stall your weak flank long enough until your team flank and rescue you. Or set up ambush to trap enemies who keep pushing after winning their strong flank. That kind of stuffs. It's basically a map where you need to read the map properly and react according to what your team and your enemy team are doing after you did your initial clashes. It is not an S tier map because it could be frustrating if your entire team consisted of muppets who never looked at their minimap, but I have a lot of fun matches there and it is one of the least snowbally maps out there (a good crossfire setup could easily reverse a yolo lemming rush even if you're outnumbered)
The most important thing is that all maps (and especially Ensk) need to be enlarged to the size of grand battle maps. The old maps were fine when we had no turbos, no ebrs and basically for a slower moving vehicles. Now everything moves so fast, these maps are just constricting and greatly contribute to 3-4 min. games all the time.
Map design is possibly the single biggest weakness of this game. Way too many 3 corridor designs and too many maps where either 1 or more classes of tanks (lights, mediums, SPG, TD, heavies) is useless, or the map heavily favours 1 of the 2 teams. The best thing about map design in my view is visual appeal in general and random events on gradually more maps.
Airfield is the only map i hate with a passion, of course depending on what class you play - but, Airfield is dogshit in everything. Slow, boring gameplay, punished if you push, punished if you peak, punished if you camp. It's genuinely awful. Mines also should not be a tier 10 map - now i've watched, glad you agree. I also love Outpost, only 'new map' they've done well. I actually agree with 90% of your map opinions which surprised me - only one i disagree with is Berlin, find it too similar to Mountain Pass with hulldown heavies or nothing. Obviously you can have some farm sessions though. Love Malionovka in a light/TD obviously, but you're right, taking into account other classes, it's a C tier map overall. But yeah... Fuck Airfield.
Imagine if WG would get people like Daki involved to provide feedback and make legit effort to improve all maps for the sake of better gameplay. As a result they end up with happier player base and more people spending money.
Issue of ruinberg is that who ever has the best spotter for field wins usualy. The random event can how ever allow heavy break through push, but its harder then to push the tanks in the field if they controll all of it.
As a light player these 5 minute games 15:0 really make me sad , give me a couple 10 or 15mins and let me use my view range. . . "How to read your minimap guide next" to learn how to improve, flank, make potential plays etc!
My issue with Westfield is that the southern team has no real cover on the southern edge of the map, if the enemy holds somewhat aggresive postions in the midddle, you have nowhere to take cover, the moulds are way too small.

Every single map should be lowered by 1 position or 2. Also all small maps should be thrown in the bin instantly, all games end up being 15-1 in those.
Finally someone talked about the imbalance on Sand River. I think that it is a really annoying map to play because of that. It's so bad that usually I will yolo the south side from the west and hope that some people will follow. Most people however seem to have resigned because of this and don't even try to win the south and you end up with 3 quarters of the team in the dried out river and they soon get shot to pieces from the side.
All maps should have more water especially fishermans bay its just not enough of it. Simple rule for map making , every square on the map HAS TO be playable, since maps are small , if they were much bigger OK , waste away space, BUT now every square is 2 valuable to waste.
hear me out: the worst map in the game is cliffs. not because of the map but because of teammates and arty. if there is double arty than the map is unplayable. period. since the map is so small, if your teammates neither push donut or mid you hav 0 map controll, everyone is locked in like 2-3 squares from the map from the start and the enemies have the highground and position advantage. on any other map if your team takes no map control, you can still play agressive, farm, fallback, farm, fallback, etc. on this map you can stay in base get three shots of before you die and thats it. you have 0 safe positions to sit while your team gets farmed. you have 0% winchance if your team doesnt take any map. on any other map you still have a slight winchance but not 0. you can have a good game if your team gets farmed on other maps. not on this map. if u have no arty and your team takes one part of the map, than its a great map.
Empired border north west only really has south west heavy corner. From the ab line west side needs like 12 gundepression to fight while the east can defend from a slope that enables even 7 gundepression tanks play hull down.
tier s: proko, murovanka, ghost town (assault mode), redshire ( assault mode ) trash/ista ban: airfield, cliff, malinovka, mines, overlord, oyster, pearl river, safe haven. sand river. the other maps are more or less average for me.. the main problem is the unbalanced bases and their release rate, some maps you never see in 100 games (proko) while other maps come out repeatedly giving you the impression of playing only on 10 maps
Ensk is S tier, come on. Sure it might be bad for lights and bushcampy TD's, but not more than Prok is bad for super heavies. I love Ensk just the way it is. Totally agree with you on Abbey though. Ass map, and one of the three lanes (8 line) is just a useless trap if the enemy holds 1-2 and middle.
Ensk is good gameplay wise but it is just to small, you cant really make tanks with good view range, speed and camo work because it is just to small to make it really work besides first spots at the start.
I have more luck in super heavies on Prokhorovka than on Ensk lol. On Ensk it just ends up being the team who has the balls to completely overflow the heavy area who wins. Which many times means if they have E3, Mino, Jagdpanzer or something else that can play there and totally deny some corridors.
Ensk feels better from north, but it's not a bad map and battles are ... let's say dynamic. I would not put Berlin that high though. It's unplayable with paper tanks. And Safe Haven - i don't know why, I feel like I have this map twice more than any other map and five times more than Prochorovka, Himmel or Malinovka. Like if I play 5 games, it's almost guaranteed to get this and Serene Coast and Lakeville. My banned are airfield for two years and it was Mines after I counted that I got south 11 times in a row, then I changed it to oyster bay. I might eventually change it for overlord, tundra or fjords.
Im back since 6 december to buy chrismas lootboxes , i played maybe 200 games , i never play in malinovka/porokovka and Many more... Every same 7/8 maps , what happen !? Do you have same crash ?
some maps needed to be addresses bearing in mind +2 MM like ghost city there is little what can a low tier slow heavy do in the city and because its slow it cant go with meds
Agree on everything except for prokh. That's the only map I ban. You either sit in a bush, unable to push cuz LTs and TDs are drooling in a different bush 500m away just waiting to shoot you. If you pick a HT and go to the ridge, you get the satisfaction of perma stun from arty. And 15 mins later it's a draw. Absolutely disgusting.
It's interesting to see how different opinions we have of it. In my opinion 15min draws is one of the key points to it being a good map. That's where it usually ends up with players having knowledge that ends up winning. That's how the game used to be on many other maps 10+ years ago and that's something they should aim for (i.e no more 15-0 games as a result). It's also the easiest map for any heavy (or medium) to kill arty with a blind shot. The stunning mechanic should be reworked though, neither arty players or the rest wants it. But it came as a result of an era of people crying about being one shot by arty AP shells.
To me most maps feel like they are centered around a "ht vs ht game.....aaaand the rest" cuz its almost impossible in most maps to go into the ht line and make a difference with a not ht tank. 14:05 " if you dont have have armor.... hmmmm you atleast have this area of the game to play" and same thing goes for turret in allmost all maps😢
Himmel is straight up bias. Obviously map for heavies, which is as far as i'm aware Daki's favourite class. He even said paper tds and lts sucks there and still decides to ignore that fact and rate that map S tier. I like ur approach on maps besides that. Access to all classes is partly what makes maps A/S tiers.
I just dont like it when you have only 1 "good" position for a certain class, esspacially heavies. The difference between Spawn / Side and Tank is just to big. I don`t know if its good balancing wise but i want to have several useful positions, where u can also advance step by step without getting completly shutdown by td`s or being under consistant arty fire, while u try to fight hulldown other hulldown tanks. I understand why it`s in the game, but i would really prefer other ways like flanking to make a push viable. After watching this video, I noticed that on many maps, the heavy flank is the one furthest away from the spawn, which also feels awful, bec of the slow speed.

Mountain pass and fjords are unplayable if u dont have armor so for me insta ban same with abbey id rather play overlord cuz all class are playable other than that i aggree with most nice vid
Fjords is insta-ban, it's not fun for anything and should be removed from this game. Empire's Border is totally useless as well. Since you are pushed towards corridors the only thing that matters is what your equivalent tank is on the other team. If your tank is worse, well, good luck. Malinovka is still good in my opinion.It's one of the few maps that ends up with a stalemate with a few minutes left and it's often the team with the smartest players who wins. On pretty much every other map it's either just luck or doesn't happen at all.
I've stopped watching your twich streams Daki. 3min ads for every 6mins of streaming. It's just insane considering no one, and I mean no one, does it as much as you do. other CCs do at most two 3min ads in an hour but 30mins of ads for 60mins of content? any how, I subscribed to your YT since you wanted to reach 100k and will continue to do so but make sure you give back to your community. cheers.
Interesting video, you are King in this game Daki, but I disagree about the maps, there are some maps that are straight F tier. The small maps should be low tier only in this game.
don't have any maps for banning, even though I don't like Paris, it's the worst map for me except if I'm in a heavy tank. I don't like the Mines either. But it is more important to have more maps for variety than to have all maps well balanced. The sense of fun is far more important than if all the maps are done so that both sides are like copied. If it were up to me, I would return all the withdrawn maps. The maps are not the problem, but the games are too fast. lack of fun and the feeling that every player has importance in the team, that the outcome depends on you at least a little. Games lack that old excitement when in most games the winner was decided by narrow margins and was at least 7-10 minutes or long. Do you remember the time when you stayed until the end of the game just to see how the last surviving players would play and who would win? Well, that's what the game lacks today. There is NO tension and excitement today.
How is mali any different than el haluff? Like I understand that hill is only position where heavies can play but same is true for el haluff, sure mali has no arty cover so it isn't S tier but certainly B or A tier. I'd much rather play mali than a lot B tier maps so at least B tier.
If youre team suck the map doesnt care. Stop with +2 Matchmaking and look for the Low Tier Games so not every Amateur rushes into Tier X. Just think each map tomorrow would be perfectly balanced, would that change the game in high tiers or low tiers? not really
Prok is bigger turd than XM, BZ, arty, and anything else. 1. Get lit on 1-2 and you're likely to be dead by the time 6S goes off. 2. Bad LT or good enemy LT will cost you the game. If no LT, 15 minutes of camping and clicking. 3. Impossible pushes bc no cover. Promotes camping and yoloing, don't need either in WoT.
Best map in the game by far.... 1. Really nice angles for every class 2. all the flanks can be supported from the middle 3. Alternative plays if your team crumbles. 4. Can farm dmg or combined score really ez. 5. Games usually take longer than in other maps. 6. Even if the game is on a shorter side, you can rotate to the flank which has more dmg to be farmed 7. Prok is no means dependable on light tanks thanks to two setups you can have on your tanks Cons. 1. 5hitt€rs in light tanks 2. artillery(goes with every map) 3. sometimes hard to dig up the campers 4. can be hard in a super heavy or a clip tank( still super easy to get good results)
I rate all maps as trash because they are ALL fish bowl size and full of corridors They are stuck on repeat and boring. Every current maps is far too small and tanks are far too fast which is why mm absolutely BLOWS and average game time is 4-5 minutes. Wg refuses to acknowledge this problem. They simply don’t care. Buy my premiums tanks and shut up is there motto. We need 5k meter maps plus for all tier 8 and up maps.

Good review, agree with you. Many maps are too small for high tiers and quite unballanced from one side.

I'm FTP so the only one I have banned is mountain pass. After updates it is wrist-slitting dull.

The best part of airfield is that east side can rush to b6 area and crossfire all the heavys while the west has no such opportunity.

They should extend the sandriver to an even biger map. Its really playable from west if the team leavs the west base.

Steppes is the only map that doesn't make me want to eat a gun.

Ensk feels better from north, but it's not a bad map and battles are ... let's say dynamic. I would not put Berlin that high though. It's unplayable with paper tanks. And Safe Haven - i don't know why, I feel like I have this map twice more than any other map and five times more than Prochorovka, Himmel or Malinovka. Like if I play 5 games, it's almost guaranteed to get this and Serene Coast and Lakeville. My banned are airfield for two years and it was Mines after I counted that I got south 11 times in a row, then I changed it to oyster bay. I might eventually change it for overlord, tundra or fjords.
Nothing about great maps like Alaska or Nebrlsburg? I love the grand battle and find it sad that can only play every 2nd time at X.

some maps needed to be addresses bearing in mind +2 MM like ghost city there is little what can a low tier slow heavy do in the city and because its slow it cant go with meds

If you pick a HT and go to the ridge, you get the satisfaction of perma stun from arty.

It's interesting to see how different opinions we have of it. In my opinion 15min draws is one of the key points to it being a good map. That's where it usually ends up with players having knowledge that ends up winning. That's how the game used to be on many other maps 10+ years ago and that's something they should aim for (i.e no more 15-0 games as a result). It's also the easiest map for any heavy (or medium) to kill arty with a blind shot.
The stunning mechanic should be reworked though, neither arty players or the rest wants it. But it came as a result of an era of people crying about being one shot by arty AP shells.
They need new maps. Maps need to be more open and chaotic like Frontline.
To me most maps feel like they are centered around a "ht vs ht game.....aaaand the rest" cuz its almost impossible in most maps to go into the ht line and make a difference with a not ht tank. 14:05 " if you dont have have armor.... hmmmm you atleast have this area of the game to play" and same thing goes for turret in allmost all maps😢

Himmel is straight up bias. Obviously map for heavies, which is as far as i'm aware Daki's favourite class. He even said paper tds and lts sucks there and still decides to ignore that fact and rate that map S tier.

Access to all classes is partly what makes maps A/S tiers.
I just dont like it when you have only 1 "good" position for a certain class, esspacially heavies. The difference between Spawn / Side and Tank is just to big. I don`t know if its good balancing wise but i want to have several useful positions, where u can also advance step by step without getting completly shutdown by td`s or being under consistant arty fire, while u try to fight hulldown other hulldown tanks. I understand why it`s in the game, but i would really prefer other ways like flanking to make a push viable. After watching this video, I noticed that on many maps, the heavy flank is the one furthest away from the spawn, which also feels awful, bec of the slow speed.

GJ, Tierlist look same for me, but i dont like westfield if playing not on hulldown tank. for me westfield C tier.

Fjords is insta-ban, it's not fun for anything and should be removed from this game.
Empire's Border is totally useless as well. Since you are pushed towards corridors the only thing that matters is what your equivalent tank is on the other team. If your tank is worse, well, good luck.
Malinovka is still good in my opinion.It's one of the few maps that ends up with a stalemate with a few minutes left and it's often the team with the smartest players who wins. On pretty much every other map it's either just luck or doesn't happen at all.

don't have any maps for banning, even though I don't like Paris, it's the worst map for me except if I'm in a heavy tank. I don't like the Mines either. But it is more important to have more maps for variety than to have all maps well balanced. The sense of fun is far more important than if all the maps are done so that both sides are like copied.
If it were up to me, I would return all the withdrawn maps. The maps are not the problem, but the games are too fast. lack of fun and the feeling that every player has importance in the team, that the outcome depends on you at least a little. Games lack that old excitement when in most games the winner was decided by narrow margins and was at least 7-10 minutes or long.
Do you remember the time when you stayed until the end of the game just to see how the last surviving players would play and who would win? Well, that's what the game lacks today. There is NO tension and excitement today.
They need to stop making tanks and start making more maps

How is mali any different than el haluff? Like I understand that hill is only position where heavies can play but same is true for el haluff, sure mali has no arty cover so it isn't S tier but certainly B or A tier. I'd much rather play mali than a lot B tier maps so at least B tier.

Prok is bigger turd than XM, BZ, arty, and anything else.
1. Get lit on 1-2 and you're likely to be dead by the time 6S goes off.
2. Bad LT or good enemy LT will cost you the game. If no LT, 15 minutes of camping and clicking.
3. Impossible pushes bc no cover. Promotes camping and yoloing, don't need either in WoT.
Best map in the game by far....
1. Really nice angles for every class
2. all the flanks can be supported from the middle
3. Alternative plays if your team crumbles.
4. Can farm dmg or combined score really ez.
5. Games usually take longer than in other maps.
6. Even if the game is on a shorter side, you can rotate to the flank which has more dmg to be farmed
7. Prok is no means dependable on light tanks thanks to two setups you can have on your tanks
Cons.
1. 5hitt€rs in light tanks
2. artillery(goes with every map)
3. sometimes hard to dig up the campers
4. can be hard in a super heavy or a clip tank( still super easy to get good results)

I rate all maps as trash because they are ALL fish bowl size and full of corridors
They are stuck on repeat and boring. Every current maps is far too small and tanks are far too fast which is why mm absolutely BLOWS and average game time is 4-5 minutes.
Wg refuses to acknowledge this problem. They simply don’t care. Buy my premiums tanks and shut up is there motto.
We need 5k meter maps plus for all tier 8 and up maps.
